Had the same dream reaction to percoset years ago with a major broken arm! Wished they had warned me ... but made me aware for this go round & had them give me something else. Otherwise, sounds like you are off to a good start!! Best of luck!

Am I ever going to wake up feeling good?
WorkinOnMe replied to Caycee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Post-op from WLS wasn't bad for me, but everyone is different. Keep pushing on and listen to your body. Don't over do it if you feel you can't. You will hit a point where all of a sudden you start to feel better. Good luck! -
What foods play well together?
WorkinOnMe replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in Food and Nutrition
@@Inner Surfer Girl Thanks for the link! Interesting read. I too have found that I have really simplified my diet post-op. I tend to use seasoning and spices to add flavor, but generally keep things really basic. I also found that foods I used to eat together I no longer like to mix up anymore. My omelets are simply eggs and cheese and a bit of meat sometimes, whereas I used to like "kitchen sink" omelets before. Funny that I never noticed this until reading the article. Thanks for sharing! -
What Is Your Biggest Fear?
WorkinOnMe replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My biggest fear .... at just over 9 mos post op I fear being a failure -- that this whole process was for naught and I will never reach my goals. I tuck those fears into a tiny little compartment in the back of my brain & only take them out on very dark days when I am down & out. A little glimpse of the fear reminds me what I am doing and why and I can once again tuck them safely away for another time. I don't have a specific weight goal ... my surgeon does, but I never did. The whole WLS for me was not about a number, but rather about me health. Part of my decision was to avoid having to go on insulin for my diabetes. I have a real fear of needles and didn't think I could inject myself even if I needed to. I am now off all meds & my fasting glucose is between 95 - 105 (when I test). My fear is that some day this number will start creeping back up and I will need to be on insulin anyway. In the meantime, I keep following my plan and doing what I need to do. I test a couple times a week just to stay on top of my numbers. Sometimes when I don't feel 'right' I need to test to make sure I am not too high ... those fears come sneaking out of the compartment and worry sets in. I don't know if I will ever get to a point where I am not afraid of the numbers, but I try to keep the fear locked up so it doesn't interfere with the rest of life. -
Tired of "embracing the stall !"
WorkinOnMe replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@Nurse_Lenora I just came off a 5 1/2 WEEK stall ... trust me I hear ya! I finally stopped looking at the scale at all until 3 weeks out. Still stuck at the same weight. Put the scale in the closet so I literally couldn't even SEE it for the next 2 weeks. Pulled it out at 5 weeks and the damned thing still hadn't moved. Not even an ounce. Went to the doc's mid week for my depo shot and their scale had me weighing less than at home. The next morning (I always weigh just after I shower) I tried it again and IT MOVED!!! Try not to get too frustrated. I had little stalls at the beginning ... 3-4 weeks post-op, again at 2 1/2 months, again at 6 months. These all lasted only a few days to a week at the most. As your body adjusts to your new sleeve and eating habits the weight loss will fluctuate. After month 2 I started to weigh only 2x a week ... Mondays & Thursdays. This helped keep me from focusing on the #s every day and I was more in tune with what I was doing day to day with my liquids & Proteins and exercise. Chin up ... it will get better! And worse .... And better .... -
My hair loss started about 2 1/2 months after surgery. My 2nd & 3rd months were really rapid drops for me, so I expected the hair loss to go with it. I too did everything I was supposed to ... but still lost handfuls each day. It stopped around the 5 month mark & have been growing back in. Not quite as thick as it used to be, but I'll take it!!! I guess I had the mindset that this was probably going to happen, so I just accepted it and found a way to style my hair that made it less noticeable. The bright side ... it did come back for me!

100lbs before and after

I am nearing a year post-op and hiccups for me come every time I eat. But at different intervals... sometimes after 1 bite, sometimes after 10, sometimes after a full meal. Surgeon knows & is okay with it. Said sometimes it happens with some people & will usually subside on its own.

I stopped pain meds in the hospital on day 2 when I told them I didn't need my happy button. Never took anything for it beyond the couple of clicks day 1. That said, everyone is different ... go into it realistically & plan on having something if you need it. If you don't need it, even better!

I have 2 weeks to complete my 30K Leap Year Dare challenge. 18K left to do... WHY does this week have to be the coldest yet!?!?!?
-
Oh what a topic!!! I'm down 125 lbs and in all the years (and there are a lot of them) that I have yo-yo'd up and down, I have never ... I repeat *NEVER* lost anything in my chest. One time I did go up in cup size even though I lost nearly 30 lbs. This time, I swear it was the first place I started losing. I went from a 48F/G a year ago down to a 40D this past weekend. I held on to bras as long a I could before buying new ones. I literally would scoop them up and throw them into the cup until they would fall out when I bent over .... then it was time for a new one! I bought only one at a time for a period because the size changed every other week. This weekend I bought 3 ... weight loss has slowed down and the girls aren't jiggling around so much now so I felt comfortable knowing I would probably be in these at least a little bit. Even bought me 2 purty lacy ones! Eventually I might like buying bras again, but for now bra shopping is the bane of my existence!!!

I'm a middle school teacher ... no such thing as "at my desk"! I went back 2 weeks after surgery, but could have gone back after 1 (my boss wouldn't let me). I packed 2 - 32 oz Water bottles and marked them at every 8 oz so I knew what I needed to drink every hour or so. This was a huge help. As the days went on I found myself drinking more than the 8 oz each hour and eventually added a third water bottle. Good luck!

Final weight ... 181lbs. Missed my goal, but at least the scale finally moved a little! -
Cherry, grape, & pink grapefruit are my favorites! I get mine from Store.BariatricPal.com so I can buy the individual packs.

My boss is post-op RNY so I didn't feel the need to keep anything from him. As for co-workers, I told a few that are close friends & the rest I simply said I was "having a medical procedure" done. No one questioned it & I didn't feel I was being evasive or untruthful.
-
I totally feel you! The scale *FINALLY* moved today after nearly 5 weeks on a stall. It is hard, but I just keep telling myself my body is adjusting. Maybe someday my head will listen!

So, we are going to a theater performance soon and I need something to wear besides a maxi skirt or jeans! Borrowed 2 dresses so I didn't have to buy one. They both fit, and both look okay. Asked my daughter for her thoughts on which I should wear & got the standard "Either one, they are both nice" response! ARGH!!! I think part of the problem is that I still don't see *ME* as I am now when I look in the mirror. I know they both are nice, but which do YOU like better!?!?!?
