After my gallbladder was removed I had an issue with eggs for a while. I was able to get passed it and can eat them with no issues post-op, however I used to eat the egg beaters or egg whites mix and had no problem with those after the gallbladder surgery.

Spent the day in the ER ... and now I need suggestions
WorkinOnMe replied to WorkinOnMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@HopeandAgony Thanks for the info! I am almost 6 months post op. Like I said, my surgeon consulted in the ER, but never mentioned this. I am hoping it is the case and it goes away in a few days ... too much to do to keep me down for long!! -
Spent the day in the ER ... and now I need suggestions

So, I woke up on Monday with this really annoying pain under my ribs on my left side. As the morning wore on, the pain increased until I was practically doubled over. Felt a lot like when I had gallbladder attacks before they took that out 3 years ago. I called my PCP and was ushered right in to be seen. PCP couldn't figure it out and sent me to the ER straight away. Lucky for me, my surgeon was already at the hospital, so he consulted with the ER Doc. To make a looooong story short, after about 6 hours of tests, blood work, more tests, and more blood work they reached the conclusion that they have no idea what is causing the pain. Not appendix, pancreas, or spleen. Not an ulcer, or GI related. Not gas. I had a CT scan, a GI "cocktail" to numb my stomach and esophagus, a prescription strength gas medication, and IV fluids for dehydration. Basically they've ruled out any life threatening possibilities and all tests are negative. So, here I am, back at work. I have pain meds, nausea meds, and a muscle relaxer .. but can't take any of that and still function. The pain has receded marginally and at least I am not doubled over any more. I have instructions to take it easy & go back to my PCP next week for a follow up. In the meantime, I am looking for suggestions on anything that might help make me more comfortable without knocking me out like the prescriptions do. I am not exercising (per Docs orders), so that makes me even crabbier. Anyone ever have anything similar?? Or suggestions on something that might help?? Thanks in advance! -
Congrats!!! Isn't it a wonderful feeling?!?

I am in!!! Thanks for doing this again Steph ... such a motivator & keeps me accountable. Starting weight is 197. Goal weight is 187. Good luck everyone!!! -
Okay, so before anyone jumps all over me, I am monitoring it and my husband is aware of it and if it changes, gets worse, or doesn't go away I will be calling the doc's a little later today! So, now for all your opinions ... I woke up this morning with a weird pain in the left side of my abdomen. Kind of slightly under my rib cage and into my side. It is pretty steady and constant, but does seem to intensify a bit and then back off. It is not the typical gas pain that I have gotten in the past, but I did try a couple GasX strips just in case. Nothing changed. Sometimes it is sharper and kind of takes my breath away. Did nothing out of the ordinary yesterday, nor did I eat anything different. I am 6 mos out of my VSG and just passed my check up with flying colors last week. Vitamin levels are all totally normal & doc said incision site healed beautifully (he couldn't even find my scar at first). I drink a minimum of 64-75 fl oz a day and get between 70 - 80g of Protein a day. I have already had my gallbladder out, so it is not that. Anyone have any thoughts? Or anyone have anything similar this far out???

Weird Pain ... started this morning

Spent most of the day in the ER yesterday. Ruled out all the life threatening issues ... still don't have an answer though. -
Anyone familiar with this?

The Syntrax nectar are one of the only ones I can stomach. I especially like their fruit flavors because I mix them with Water and it isnt as thick. I also use their unflavored powder too. My NUT told me not to do more than 25-30g of Protein at once, and if it is at the higher end to take it slow so my body has time to process it a bit. The unflavored is 10g per scoop, so that is what I add to greek yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. -

There is a lot more to the story ... I actually started the bariatric program in 2011, but had to stop due to a serious back injury. I went back to the program in 2014 once my PCP determined my back had healed enough to proceed. I had my NUT appointments, but had only met with the surgeon once when there was change to my insurance plan. In order to ensure that I could actually go through with surgery prior to the switch, and not have a HUGE out of pocket cost, they pushed me through and fast-tracked the rest of my tests and appointments. It was hectic and crazy, but I am so glad that they were willing to work with me, especially since it was the second time around. -
I know this is going to be WILDLY popular... ;)

Wish I had seen this sooner!!! Been offline a bit last week, but this sounds great going into our crazy dance competition season. Talk about easy to plan meals on the road! Thanks for the idea!!! -
Checking in at 197.0 today! Woohoo ... hit my goal for this round and then a bit more too. PHEW! Wasn't sure I would make it with these dang stalls.

Just had my 6 mos check up yesterday & NUT said no more than 1 shake/protein drink per day. She wants majority if it coming from real food now.

Weighed in today for the Halloween Challenge & have finally made it to ONEDERLAND!!! scale read 198.1 this morning. I am almost 6 months out & have now lost a total of 104.9 lbs. So excited to see a 1 at the start of that number, but even more so at the fact that this marks another victory for me. I now weigh less than my husband! In the 25+ years we've known each other, this has NEVER HAPPENED! Think I am gonna have perma-grin today!!

ONDERLAND and a 25 year Victory!

Woohoo! Congrats to you!! Lovin this feeling of reaching another mini-goal. -
Totally agree! I can't really stomach the thicker drinks/shakes. These I mix with water and are more like drinking juice. Now that I am further out (almost 6 mos) I add an extra scoop of unflavored protein to it & I can still tolerate the thickness pretty well. I buy mine online at www.nashuanutrition.com

I started breaking my addiction 2 months pre-op. And by addition, I mean if I could have gotten it in an IV, I would have! I used to drink 3 lg iced coffees each day with almond milk (lactose intolerant) & splenda and sometimes flavors. 2 months before I switched to to half-caf ... half caffeine & half decaf. 1 month pre-op I switched to stevia & no flavor shots. 2 weeks pre-op I went totally decaf. I am now almost 6 months post-op & have not gone back. I still get the coffee taste I love without the caffeine!

I use Centrum Senior chewables. Only one that I can stomach the taste of!
-
Glad to see you are back. Hope everything is okay & was just a rough week!
-
198.1!!!! Not only hit my goal for this challenge, but also joined ONEDERLAND!
-
yes! If you fill your stomach with liquids you wont be able to eat the protein your body needs & will get fuller faster. Stop 1/2 before & dont drink until 1/2 after eating.
-
I too use the Nectar unflavored. Online at Amazon or Nashuanutrition.com.

Ok second stall ???? need help please!
WorkinOnMe replied to Lexuskela's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When I stall I push the fluids and the proteins, lessen the calories & carbs/sugars, increase my walking and go back to basics. This seems to help. After 6 mos it isn't a drastic weight loss like before though so if I continue to lose a pound or 2 a week I am happy. It is when the scale stoos moving altogether that I really switch it up. -
Very good friend just had a baby about 2 years post VSG. Very successful pregnancy and delivery. No issues and has lost almost all pregnancy weight 3 mos. after delivering.
