My dr./NUT say no gum as it allows too much air to go into your stomach.

Totally normal. It's the anesthesia! Could take a few days to wear off. Just enjoy the good sleep for now -
Hunger, Cravings, etc. Post-Op
sarahbee replied to sarahbee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm out of the hospital. So far so good. Just trying to get all my liquids in and keep moving regularly. I definitely haven't had any cravings or desire to eat anything other than cold Water. Even Jello and crystal light are overly sweet to me now. I've been working on the same jello cup since this morning and have only gotten half way through it. Some food still looks or smells good to me, but I get turned off at the thought of eating it. -
Calling all RNYer's for the week of June 15th thru 19th.

I got discharged last night. Pain hasn't been as bad as my gallbladder removal which is nice. Getting liquids in has been tough but easier every day. I find I prefer Water to everything else - crystal light and Jello are extremely sweet to me now. Otherwise, all is good. Gas is insane. Swirling around in me like there's a thunderstorm going on in there. Gas x helps but I'm looking forward to that being gone! -

It's really interesting how experiences differ so much patient to patient. This has been helpful, though, in setting my expectations. I appreciate y'alls responses! -

June 16th here -- and I feel like I'm lucky, because my pre-op diet is just high Protein, low carb. Hasn't been too bad, though I miss eating fruit! @@SHRINKING LINDA - I have chocolate unjury and i like it - not too much of a protein shake-y after taste. -
2 week liquid pre-op diet
sarahbee replied to freelee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so curious as to why pre-op diets vary so much. Mine is 2 weeks of no carb (>30G) and 70+g of Protein. I have one day of clear liquids before surgery. I certainly feel for all you that have had to go through multiple weeks of liquids - that sounds very hard! -
BCBS California OFFICIAL everything you need to know thread!
sarahbee replied to bellabloom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same experience, more or less, as bellaboom. I live in Texas, but my employer is based in Cali, so I have BCBS Anthem. When I started researching, I saw the BCBS requirement for 6mo diet, and assumed I'd have to do it, but after submitted everything, I was approved in 2 days. The requirements for the surgeon's office to submit the approval were Nutrition and Exercise Physiology classes, Psych Eval, and letter from doctor recommending surgery and noting any weightloss attempts prior (supervised by them, or on your own). It was a much smoother process than I'd expected. And since I was aware of the CME requirement, I had already done the seminar and found a dr. through St. David's medical, which is a BCBS center of distinction. One thing to note, after I got word of approval from the surgeon, I got the letter from the insurance indicating certificate of medical necessity for my surgery, however the verbiage at the bottom of the letter said "The facility where you are having your surgery is not a CME, and therefore your procedure may not be covered". I called them, and they said they are having an issue with the wrong language being sent out on letters, so if that happens to you, don't freak out!
