    A little TMI

Is/Has anyone had problems with constipation? I'm three weeks out, drinking plenty of fluids, but it's not helping. I'm still eating very little (about 500 calories a day) so I'm not expecting normal poops, but I wasn't expecting to have such trouble going either! Suggestions? I know I can have Beans in the diet phase I'm in. Maybe I just need to have some every day. Ick. Meg

Ok. WTF am I doing wrong?

Was it a prepared salad that you bought? Or did you make it? If you bought it, I can believe that it had 33g fat in it. Egg, bacon, cheese... plus the dressing. It adds up. My nutritionist told me, when buying food look for items that have less than 5g total fat and less than 15g total carbs.

Honestly, this sounds awfully high in fat. That could be throwing things off.

Ok. WTF am I doing wrong?

So far, you've gotten a lot of good feedback. I'm three weeks out and I'm not hungry at all. I have to eat on a schedule or I'll forget. 1 cup of food at a time sounds like a lot. My surgeon said that I should be able to eat between 1/4 cup and 1/2 cup at a time when I'm 8 weeks out. 3 oz. of Protein, 1/4 cup of veggies. I also drink the Protein shakes with 30+ grams of protein per 11oz. Maybe try a week of just sticking to protein, veggies and your protein shakes. Leave out anything else like fruit, crackers, etc. Also, see if you can find an in person support group in your area. Your surgeon may not, but there have to be others and some of them might. I find that helps me a lot.

    Insurance coverage for new procedure

I was very lucky - because my band leaked, the removal and sleeve were approved in a month. I did not have to qualify all over again.
  7. I had my surgery two weeks ago and I was sent home with a wound vac where the port was removed. Wondering if anyone else had this and how long it took to heal.

    May 26th

I had a band to sleeve conversion on May 26. The first two weeks were rough but I'm feeling much better now! How are the rest of you doing? There's not another thread in May 2015 for this date. If there is another place to post, would you mind putting a link here? I haven't been able to find it.

    Current sleevers in Alabama?

Do you know of any support groups in the area? StV East has one the 3rd Saturday of the month, but I'd love to find out if there are more. These first few months I feel like I can use all the help I can get!

    Current sleevers in Alabama?

Robotics? No! Dr. Miles is very old school. I'm not nauseous anymore. I had some the first two days but none since. I'm feeling good, just a little discomfort as I learn how and what I can eat.

    Current sleevers in Alabama?

Me! I'm in Birmingham. Dr. Miles did my sleeve on 5/26. I have just started the soft food stage and I'm enjoying the taste of food, but man do I miss eating. Even though I'm not hungry.
  12. Great advice! Also, walk, walk and walk. Even if you just walk around your house. Walking, especially stairs, really helps with the gas. I had diarrhea after my first Protein shake, but just that morning. If it persists, you should definitely call your surgeon. Meg

    Out patient or not

My surgeon discharges the self pay patients the same day, but he keeps the insurance patients overnight. I was glad to be there the night. I had more pain than with the band.

3 wks post op - very low energy

I need to drink the protein shakes with 30g of protein. That helps keep my protein closer to 80g.

    Port site recovery

Wish they'd done that. I got stapled and I still have some scabs.
  16. Mine leaked, so I definitely would.

3 wks post op - very low energy

I'm two weeks out from my conversion and I have also had very low energy. Yesterday I had almost 90 grams of protein and I can feel a huge difference today. I'm having two protein shakes plus two Greek yogurts. Tomorrow I get to add in more soft food like cottage cheese and applesauce so I'm hoping that'll help too!
