I went for my sleep apnea consult last week and the Dr. feels there is a strong possibility that I have it. My insurance won't cover a lab study so I have to do an at home sleep study. How precise are those? Has anyone been conclusively diagnosed using the at home test?

So, I was supposed to have had my psych eval. this week but the place where I was going to get it called and told me that my ins. would not cover any of it because they are out of network and I haven't met my deductible. They said if I paid out of pocket, it would be $400 - $500.00. Needless to say I canceled and found a place that does take my ins. They called me today and said my ins. is covering the whole visit!!!! I had to have them repeat it because this process has been so expensive for me so far!! -

my psych appt was only 20-25 min long, what could they possibly talk to u for 3 hrs about, that's long, u only have 4 months of nutritional visit lucky you, I have 6 & don't have to do a sleep apnea test or that endo test, I think it's called endoscopymy psych appoinment was like 2 1/2 hrs long What did you do? Was it more talking or filling out questionnaires? My pysch eval is Tues. just wondering what to expect... Did you know before you left if he/she cleared you? -

Had my 2nd of 4 appointments with my PCP yesterday and I gained 1.7 lbs. :'(. The situation I'm in makes this so difficult! I can't lose weight or I'll get denied but I definitely don't want to gain. I feel like I'm over thinking and stressing which makes me want to eat more!! I just want to maintain. Sorry, I'm just venting in hopes that someone on here can relate and maybe give some advice??? -

And you're lucky to have an out of pocket cost of $250. My out of pocket cost will be between $3,000 - $3,500 after approval. I will be sick if I pay out all of this only to get denied :'(. Glad your endo. went good! That's great that you have everything done but your supervised appts. Sept. will be here before we know it -

I don't know what we're going to be talking about for 3 hours but I'll let keep ya posted. Yeah, my insurance requires 4 supervised PCP appts. Well, my bmi is 38.3 and I have a comorbidity of osteoarthritis of my knee and my surgeon feels that will be enough to get me approved through my insurance but wants to check me for sleep apnea since from the way I answered some questions regarding it, it may be a possibility that I have it. He said if I did, it would definitely get approved! How disturbing is it, that I hope I do? I guess, it would be better to have that, though, then something worse,,, which is the direction I'm heading in with prediabetes and borderline htn... -

I started doing protein shakes for breakfast yesterday and I am liking what I got so far. I also made my pysch eval and mine is going to be 3 hours. Is that normal? Got my Nut appt. next month, my 2nd weight mgt. supervision appt. is on the 26th and then I have 2 more left. Still need to do my sleep apnea study but things seem to be moving along I so hope I get approved after all of this!! -

How does that make you feel? I am in the same position and it makes me feel like my life is on hold for the next 3 months. The Dr. & I have our supervised plan in place but I feel like we're both just going through the motions. It's kind of depressing!! Anyone else in this boat? Can you relate? Is this a normal feeling to have? What can I do to change my mindset so I can use this time to prepare in a productive way? -

Good morning! My ins. is Cigna too! I just started my journey last month and I also have to have 3 mos of supervised diet, psych eval, sleep study, 1 NUT visit and attend at least 1 support group. My bmi is 38.3 with a comorbid of osteoarthritis in my left knee. As oddly as it sounds, I'm hoping that's enough to get approved especially after dishing out all this money to meet my deductible and jumping through all of these hoops! After I found out that I had to have my PCP on board with this, I was concerned too! I had just started seeing her (my old one who has been there through all of my struggles of weight loss attempts closed her practice down) but I made the appt. anyway and went. Surprisingly, she was very much on board and felt the same way the surgeon felt and said if I could get the weight off the osteoarthritis would more than likely not be a issue for me anymore and she made me feel comfortable and everything! So, make an appt. With your PCP, he/she just might surprise you! Good luck!!
