I'm 7 weeks out, and yes I understand cheese and chicken are Proteins but a fried quesadilla ordered from a Mexican restaurant is still not a great choice. And it definitly wasn't low fat cheese.

LMFAO you're too funny!!! I have a few at work that need the same treatment

Makes 2 servings 1.5c milk 1 banana 2 tbsp PB2 1 tbsp cocoa powder 1c spinach 2 scoops Protein powder Ice This turned out great! I really haven't liked many Protein shakes I've tried and many of them are too thick for me. This was perfect with 4-6 ice cubes and then I saved the second one for the next day. I used unflavored Protein Powder, but if you use chocolate you could disregard the cocoa powder.

Do you eat Yogurt? What brand? What sort of toppings do you add to it?
scarletwitch19 replied to scarletwitch19's topic in Food and Nutrition
All yogurts aren't high in sugar. Plain greek yogurts such as Fage have around 8g sugar per serving. And a serving is 1cup, which is alot of yogurt. I eat 1/2c. -
What is your daily food intake?

Oh good, I'm glad to hear I'm in the right ballpark. I "feel" fine. It's just the logic in me saying I should be taking in more.... -

Thank you for the ideas! I do enjoy plain yogurt alot, just looking for a little something to add to it, cinnamon and cocoa powder are good ideas. I also like putting pumpkin pie spice on mine -
Another peanut butter option is pb2. Goes great in smoothies. There's tons of recipes on pinterest

When did your surgery "kick in?"
scarletwitch19 replied to MisforMimi's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
also, at only 5 weeks out, your body might still be adjusting. Many people have a stall for a week or two once they're out a few weeks, but the time frame can vary between people. It's very normal, it's just your body readjusting. I got stuck around week 3 and then lost 5 the next week. Be patient, a week or two stall seems awful, but it's not permanent. -

how many calories/grams of protein are you getting in a day? How much exercise are you doing and what are you doing? Keep in mind, you need to find your balance of calories/protein and exercise. If you're exercising a ton your body might need a little more fuel to keep going. Otherwise, it tries to hold onto everything and you won't lose weight. -

Thank you for all the ideas everyone! I just ordered PB2 and chocolate pb2 so I was thinking to try that with plain yogurt. Another idea a friend from work gave me was buying plain greek yogurt and adding a squirting of the crystal light flavor concentrates (the ones that you add to water). Just figured I'd share, but I haven't given it a shot yet -

I really like the strawberry cheesecake one as well! -
I had trouble with the shakes until I tried whey Protein isolate. I use the Now brand, I buy it on amazon. It dissolves really well, I hate when other Proteins have clumps. Another thing you might want to try I'd the Syntrax nectar protein powders. Mybariatricpantry.com has a sample pack of a bunch of different flavors for like $20. If you like fruit flavored drinks that brand has alot of options

For a tasty protein drink I've found I like adding the crystal light flavor packets along with plain whey protein isolate. I don't like the typical chocolate or vanilla protein drinks. This way I can have lemonade, fruit mixes etc and I can mix it up everyday

How are you feeling so far? I've been doing pretty good! Able to eat a decent range of soft foods now, trying to exercise at least 40min/day. Hardest part is getting all my Protein in, but I'm doing 2 Protein shakes a day, each with 25g so that jumps me to 50 pretty quick. I am just so looking for when i 'notice' I've lost weight. I'm down 26lbs and it just hasn't made much a difference in clothes or appearance yet.

Boyfriend's mom doubts my potential success.

What an ignorant woman. Just think how great it will feel when you look awesome!!! I feel your pain though. My bf told his mom and grandma about my wls and while they were supportive and I do think they mean well. Based on some of the questions I'm asked I get the impression they think I need this to force myself from not stuffing my face! What's with the world thinking being overweight means you eat 10 big mac's a day!?!?!?! Yes, I needed this to help me lose weight, but being heavy doesn't mean I can't control myself and stuff my face 24/7 -
Is not wanting to eat at all normal
scarletwitch19 replied to Phosphate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Feel the same way. I'm on week 6, and never want to eat. Even since I can eat soft foods, nothing is appetizing. I know some of that is probably me having a bad attitude, but I just have no desire. I always have my 2 shakes, yogurt, lunch and dinner every day, but it can really feel like a chore at times -
When your BFF doesn't support you...
scarletwitch19 replied to Ashley1213's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Unfortunately jealousy is a huge issue post surgery. I've come to find a colleague at work to make snide comments to make me feel bad, even though she was considering surgery herself. And my best friend was very supportive the week of surgery, but hasn't said much anything to me in the past 6 weeks. It's disappointing and unfortunate. I really thought that friends/family/colleagues who also struggle with weightloss would be the most understanding and supportive, but I'm finding the opposite. Hang in there, don't forget that everyone on this site knows what a huge decision this is and is very happy you're joining the wls family. -
How much do you eat at a meal?
scarletwitch19 replied to scarletwitch19's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I think I can eat a cup at this point at 11 months out I know there is some sort of test with cottage cheese I can do to see exactly how much my sleeve can hold. I'll have to see if I can find it and try it. I've noticed this month how much more I can actually eat if I let myself. I think my awesome happy fun great restriction time is waning a little, and it makes me sad. I'm going to have to be super careful That's why I'm realizing I need to measure better. I'm never 'hungry'. Whether I eat 1/2 or 1 cup, doesn't matter. So as long as I always measure out that 1/2 cup and stop there, I won't feel hungry. Just need to get back into the measuring habit. -

scarletwitch19 replied to scarletwitch19's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I'm just glad I'm in a similar place as others. I get so nervous about overeating, I'm good about measuring, but not great about it. I know I've never ate over a cup of food, so I don't think I've ruined anything. I will start working on measuring a little better so that I don't stress about it. -

One month post surgery;mixed emotions
scarletwitch19 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It's exactly one month since my surgery! I can't believe how fast the time went. I'm down 25lbs and honestly can't believe that I already am feeling different. My pants fit a little loose, I can work out a little longer, my face looks a little thinner, I never knew 25lbs could show all that. I'm able to eat most soft foods without a problem, usually around a 1/2 cup at a time, sometimes maybe a couple bites more. I haven't gotten really sick or anything, which is a relief because I was really nervous about that! It's tough sometimes, it gets overwhelming still. And it's hard talking to people who don't get it, I try to be patient but it's frustrating when people think this is easy or try to give nutrition advice when they know nothing about my procedure. Just this week I had someone (who was considering surgery herself) tell me that they are afraid of surgery because of all the excess skin and how 'gross' people look. Then I was warned to not trust people because I'll be treated different and all of the sudden when I'm not fat I'll be good enough to hangout with. This went on for like 15 minutes. I was SO hurt by what they said. I have enough insecurities through this process on my own, and yes excess skin and relationships with people are on my list of concerns. Who says this to people? Why are you trying to hurt my feelings, mind your own business! It really sucks, today's 1 month and I should be pretty excited, but it's been 2 days since those comments and I can't get it outta my head. -
