  1. I would try substituting healthier options for your current ones. Try drinking Water instead of diet coke. Or crystal light. Maybe try herbal tea instead of coffee. I found that it wasn't the caffeine I needed in the morning, I just liked a hot drink. It's not easy, and I agree with everyone else, you can't change them all at once. But boosting your water intake and going to the gym regularly are so important post surgery and getting in the habit now will make it a much easier transition. As for sugars, now could be a good time to start checking out healthier sweet tooth foods. sugar free Popsicles are a favorite of mine, and sugar free pudding. I also found healthy choice makes 100 calorie frozen greek yogurts (little bit higher in sugar and carbs than my normal foods, but everyone needs a treat once in awhile!). Most important thing I found pre-surgery is record everything!!! Journal what time you eat and how much. Record how much water you're drinking, and how much you exercise. It can be really helpful to look back and reflect on what you did good and what you can improve on. Good luck!!! You can do this
  2. I wouldn't worry that you're eating too much, you are eating small portions and healthy foods, that's what matters most. All doctors and nuts are different but mine has me on 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. One meal us my breakfast protein shake. 1/2c yogurt for morning snack, 1/2c food at lunch, usually a cheese stick or a couple veggies with hummus for afternoon snack, then 1/2c to 3/4c food for dinner. Sometimes I'll have fruit or a sugar free popsicle or something in evening. Even with eating all that my caloric intake is usually somewhere between 550-800 a day which is definitly not alot. If you're eating healthy, taking small bites and eating small portions you are doing great . As for hunger, make sure you're getting all your water in. That cab make a big difference

    New protein source.

I haven't had many issues with it getting lumpy. I use Now Sports whey protein isolate and mix one scoop with 16oz and just shake it really well. I get the occasional clump of powder (yuck) but for the most part it mixes great and I don't even taste it. I've mixed it with other sugar free fruit drinks as well but lemonade is my favorite. it's also low calorie, like 110calories

    New protein source.

I'm not a protein shake fan. I power through it in the morning, but don't like it lol. I also add protein powder to crystal light. When I mix it with lemonade I don't even taste it
  5. How much protein are you getting in? Drinking protein shakes? I'm 8wks out and eat btween 1/2-3/4 cup of food. Typically dinner I eat 3/4c otherwise 1/2c or less. Definitly keep up on the water, that will help alot. I add protein powder and crystal light to my water once a day also, get an extra 25g protein and it's only around 110calories

    Healthy choice frozen

I haven't ate any frozen meals. I would imagine it's fine. I would just take a look at the nutrition to make sure it's not too high in carbs or sodium
  7. I told my family and a handful of close friends, that's it. As I have started to lose weight and people are noticing, if they complement me, I tend to tell them. If they care enough to stop and tell me they see I lost weight and look good, I'll explain. And I've gotten very supportive responses. The biggest thing I've found is people are uneducated. They are curious how it works, there's nothing wrong with that. You have plenty of time, don't feel rushed to tell anyone just yet if you aren't ready

    Sip sip sip

Trust me, you won't drink too much. You want to stay hydrated, that will help you heal faster. Hang in there and welcome to the wls family

    pre op support needed.

I know it's frightening, I was pre-op , not that long ago. But if you follow the rules you will do great. Hair loss worries my a little too, I haven't noticed it yet, but alot of people have that issue unfortunately. I've been stressing about alot of stuff with surgery as of late, and now that I'm seeing real results I've decided that it doesn't matter. Loose skin and hair loss are so worth it in my book right now. I just want to be healthier and feel better about myself. Eye on the prize, it's all worth it in the end.

My Pre Op Diet Was All I Needed

way to go, pre-op is the worst part in my opinion! Post surgery I haven't had any cravings really. The liquid diet stuff sucks, no pretending there. But I can eat most anything now and I have no interest in sweets. I tried a bite of something once or twice (hey, we all make mistakes) but it's too sweet to me now, I felt like I'd get sick. As for steak, I definitely hope I can eat that once again, lol. Right now it's way too tough.
  11. Tried out a new class at the gym. My legs are pretty sore, but still feeling great :) I never could have done this 6 months ago, I'm so happy!

    Hello all! Newbie!

I mean, adding powder can change the texture a bit, yes. Unfortunately I think it's something we have to get used to. I buy Now Sports whey protein isolate on amazon, and I don't really notice a gritty taste as long as I mix it really good.

    Hello all! Newbie!

Have you tried adding plain Protein powder to the foods? You could add it to a Soup or casserole. Really , you can add it to almost anything. http://bariatricfoodie.blogspot.com/p/favorite-recipes.html?m=1 This website had a lot of recipe ideas. And as much as it sucks, you should keep trying with meat, maybe once a week try a meal with meat. Fish and chicken are your best bet, I'm sure lots of others have told you this already good luck

    Stress/Emotional eating

Working out really helps me. But I need to get out of the house. Maybe go for a walk? I like to completely leave so sometimes I'll go to the gym. It helps to get as far away from food as possible when feeling that way. I also have kept one outfit from my high weight. It's honestly alot of inspiration to me when I try it on and see what's already changed. And that helps me refocus on why I'm doing this. Hang in there! You can do this, and you deserve it. Losing weight brings on alot of emotions including stress. We have to work through it, but it's so going to be worth it when we hit of goals

    pre op support needed.

It amazes me how many of us have had friendships change or gone because we decided to have wls. I told a handful of friends, not all. My best friend has always been overweight just like me. We're still friends, but I know she judges the surgery and thinks it's the easy way. I'm not looking for complements or to talk about surgery all the time, but it would be nice if she was more supportive. On the other hand I have a friend at work that I told, this man is super fit, very thin, very active etc. He is the most supportive person in my life other than my boyfriend. Has commented multiple times on how I looked, asks how I'm doing, called and texted to get updates on how I was doing the entire day of my surgery. Has been a great person to talk to, and supported me when I've had our coworkers make comments against surgery. I guess I'm the judgemental one, I assumed someone very fit would judge surgery more than someone who can relate to my weight struggles. Oops lol

My Pre Op Diet Was All I Needed

I read this nonsense over again. And the more I think about it the more it was just too perfect a story. This had to be complete bullshit and made up. Definitly some sort of spam or trolling. How pathetic.

    Coworker outed me

I'm sorry, but what a b****. Mad you're being a baby! It's NOT being a baby wanting to tell people yourself. It's your business. She absolutely said it implying it was the easy way. I'm sorry you have to work with a rude person.

    pre op support needed.

You should be excited! This is a great opportunity to make yourself healthier and happier. It's tough when you don't have the support you want from friends or family, but that's why support groups like this exist. Congrats to making the decision! We're all here for you.

It's so awesome. It's really nice to see because I haven't seen the scale move super fast lately. Only 6 lbs down in 3 weeks, which just seems a little low when only 2 months out. Idk, maybe I'm being impatient. Either way, clearly changes are happening. :)

What's your "weight loss pet peeve?"

I have not had that happened, but oh my gosh I'm so sorry people are so rude! People are so shallow. Last I checked love was about more than I size. At least it is in my book!

    Coworker outed me

That's very rude!!! It was not your coworkers place to answer, and blurting it out like that, they had to know you wouldn't like that. If it's a coworker you are close with I would mention that you didn't like it. Maybe they need a little reminder in manners.
