I was one of the fortunate few who for most of my life I was thin.   I did work at it all the time, if I gained more than 10lbs I would go on a diet.  Then when I was 30 my challenges with endometriosis became worse and my GYN started me on Depo Provera shots to shut my cycles down.  I had one shot a month for 6 months until my weight gain became out of control and I chose to stop taking them.  I had gained over 60 lbs in 6 months and was basically being told it wasn't the hormone shots, (yeah right) so it took over a year for my doctor to figure out my cycle was never coming back.  I had to have a shot of progesterone to re-start my cycle.  I had now gained 80lbs.  I was super depressed and always self conscience.   I believe the hormones caused something permanent to my hormonal chemistry ie; metabolism etc.  The next 20 years I have done just about every diet known and literally spent thousands on weight loss products and programs. I have lost a max of 40lbs on the most brutal diets but eventually always gained it back and then some.  I finally decided to do something permanent as I just turned 50 a couple of days ago and I have multiple comorbidities.  I want to get healthy again and am excited to be able to buy clothes in the regular departments, go on a bike ride with my grandkids and not be afraid to show up at the pool with something other than shorts and a t-shirt :).
