June 8th sleeve...things no one told me
shancanssleevejourney replied to work2Bskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Jerry nothing you can do pre op to lessen the gas because they pump you full of air during the surgery. Just walk as much as you possibly can it really works to keep things moving sounds too simple but that's the trick -
June 8th sleeve...things no one told me
shancanssleevejourney replied to work2Bskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stool softeners didn't do the trick for me at first. Those pain pills really mess you up if you're really miserable asking about lactulose. It will do the trick rapidly -
June 8th sleeve...things no one told me
shancanssleevejourney replied to work2Bskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
just had my 2 week checkup today down 23 lbs total in 4 weeks. Post op is 14 lbs. started on soft foods and doing really well just have to be careful to chew chew chew and not eat too fast. thank God my doctor put me on protonix so have had no nausea at all. I still can't tolerate the protein shakes that they gave me. too sweet tasting and have a horrible aftertaste I just got a sample of the unflavored unjury brand that I will try a little bit later today. my burning and stabbing pain in my belly button incision has not gone away so I'm going to have an ultrasound at 815 tonight. here's hoping it's just something strained or possibly just one spot that is healing slower than the rest. they want to double check to make sure its not a hernia. I will be horrified if I have got another surgery again to get a hernia fixed. wish me luck -

Right side pain
shancanssleevejourney replied to Jennna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for posting, I too was sleeved on June 8th and have had little to no pain in my belly button and upper incision. The only place that was painful was my left side incison. However today, I have this one spot on my belly button incision that is burning and stabbing pain. The only relief I get is if I lay down flat on my back. I also am scared, it sounds normal according to some of the posts, but it really hurts. Yesterday two things happened that lead me to suspect I may hurt it in some way. 1. I wore jeans for the first time and it rubbed my incision tape off. 2. I accidentally was straining with a bowel movement, really couldn't help it once it started. -
June 8th sleeve...things no one told me
shancanssleevejourney replied to work2Bskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi June 8th buddies, I too was sleeved on the 8th. I didn't have bad abdominal gas but I had it really bad in my upper chest and radiating into my left lower shoulder blade. Make sure you take the pain pills and stay ahead of the pain and yes believe that walking will take care of it much quicker. I am up to soft foods now and tolerating everything very well, the only problem I still have is everything tastes sickenly sweet, I don't even like yogurt, so its been extremely hard for me to get my Protein in. I was losing at least a lb a day and all of sudden I have stalled. Not sure why except maybe my body is adjusting to real food again vs everything liquid? Not sure. Keep in touch! I would love to have buddies to walk through this with! -
My incisions pain was actually quite low for the most part, ( 2wks post op) but weird thing, yesterday I put on a real pair of jeans to go to the grocery store and when I changed that night, my incision tapes were all lose and had pulled off for the most part. Today I have this one little spot that really hurts and it wont' go away, almost feels like a lump underneath. Has this happened to anyone?

Looking for my June 1 buddy's ?
shancanssleevejourney replied to bvenegas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad to hear you are doing well! I have so much catching up to do. my phone wasn't working correctly to reply. I'm on my fourth day of week 2 and doing really well. I too had to use Isopure as I couldn't get a shake down but then I developed this horrible aversion to anything sweet I guess this is normal so I just had to dilute everything down I still can't stand sweet stuff but I am just forcing it down now. I also suffered gas pain in my back around my shoulder blade and chest when I started walking more it went away so walk walk walk it helps. -
Eating at 3 weeks post op
shancanssleevejourney replied to juju79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 1 week post op and starting to venture into puree stage for week two. I am so sick of sweet, I can't hardly tolerate the smell of anything sweet so I've done blended cottage cheese, blended lentil Soup and after having no food at all (liquids) for the last 3 weeks it tasted like heaven lol. I am only eating around 2-3 oz at a time and taking bites about 1/8 of a teaspoon at a time so I am tolerating it well. I found the lentil soup in the organic section of the grocery store an it is wonderful. -
Looking for a buddy with lower pre op BMI
shancanssleevejourney replied to Jme82's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I also had a lower BMI and just had my surgery June 8th. I'm so glad I did it, even though its been rough, its so worth it in the end. I too have got the "look" when I've told people about the surgery and have been told why don't you just diet and excercize? Duh, I've been dieting and exercizing for 20 years lol, and I want the yoyo to stop. I had several co-morbidiities so I did this half for my health as well as my weight. I would love to be buddies with you guys, I'm not quite sure how to find you again -
3 days post op and it's the worst day yet!
shancanssleevejourney replied to jaxmom1974's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi I am 1 week out post op (june 8th) and have been having a bad pain around my lower left shoulder blade and slight mild pain in my left chest like if you could drive a stake right through, it would line up I was having this early post op but the meds took care of it, now it won't go away even with meds. Has anyone experienced this? -
Surgery scheduled for June 15
shancanssleevejourney replied to grandmaofone's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Definitely make sure your shakes are Surgeon approved. The Protein derivitive is very important, it has to have whey isolates I believe is the term. I am using New Direction and they are very good. My surgery is scheduled for Monday June 8th so would be great to have buddies. -

Ok weird, Pickle Juice
shancanssleevejourney replied to closer400's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so glad I came to this site, I am 9 days in to my 2 week liquid diet and I have been CRAVING pickles and vinegar! Thought I was crazy until I saw there is another thread on here about vinegar cravings and someone posted that someone told them it's Calcium overload. It makes so much sense as I never drink milk and now am having 4 shakes a day! My big question is will I blow my liquid diet if I drink some apple cider vinegar? I could drink a gallon right now lol.
