canned chicken , fish, refried Beans, any other kind of cooked beans, hummus, cottage cheese, ricotta and string cheese, laughing cow spreadable cheeses, and types of soft foods that are not crunchy or stringy like celery, cooked veggies. The most important thing is to not take too large of bites. Use the size of a pencil eraser as a guide and chew until nothing left to chew and use 1/4 - 1/2 cup at one time. Cheers!

Struggling to quit smoking?

I have a hex ohm box mod and an Atlantis tank. They are pretty spendy but works so good you never have to worry about getting another one. There are tons of other beginner ones out There. Hookah actually is tobacco so it's a completely different animal altogether -

Monday June 8th is the day!

I completely understand having a hard time getting your protein and h2o in. I too AM struggling with that. I'm only hungry a couple of times a day so in finding it very hard to fight the head hunger. It's also difficult changing your head to only want good food that's good for you. I am doing very well with staying strictly proteins and veggie so quite often what my options are to eat don't sound good so I don't eat. Hopefully soon I will get into a rhythm and find better recipes that I like so I'm not just getting by. Hope that makes sense lol -

I would strongly advise you to check with your nutritionist on the type of protein shakes you should be having. It's my understanding that Atkins is not sufficient enough for our needs. Also to get the 90-120 grams a day as needed that's a lot of shakes -

Hi Natalie, I'm doing really well also. I too m getting to the point where I know I need to hit the gym but not trying to be a superhero. I'm still struggling with fatigue hoping it will go away soon. I keep having to remind myself that because of my age I'm not going to bounce back as quickly as some of the youngins lol. I am still struggling with getting all my protein shakes in. So I just ordered a new nectar brand that is only 4 to 6 ounces with 30 grams. I think that's going to help a lot as I really hate the shakes I'm using now. I have been extremely careful I've not eating too fast and chewing my food really really well so have had no issues up until last night I made some tuna and cut up dill pickle slices really tiny like the size of relish. About 10 minutes after eating I felt really nauseous. Not to the point of throwing up but just not feeling good. I also had instant diarrhea but it didn't continue just one time. Sorry for the TMI not sure how else to put that lol. I don't know now whether it was the food or if maybe I ate it too fast. I'm guessing it was a mild mild case of dumping? Really not sure -
Usually, I'm pretty even keeled, even on the Internet, but some questions...

This thread is a scream, I'm probably guilty of feeling some of the exact same things, although, I have been a whiner in the last week or so. I am only 4 1/2 weeks out and have stalled. I needed to read this to get my head back on straight. I think part of the issue is also peer and family pressure, I get asked "how much have you lost" a hundred or two times. I think we get in the trap of having to "prove" why we decided to have surgery. Other people have much higher expectations than myself and I need to find a way to verbalize to them its really not just about the amount of weight I have lost. I know they think they are being helpful and cheering me on, but I feel shamed when I can't report a loss and I know its just normal at this stage in my journey. Honestly the thing that makes my head explode is the seemingly complete lack of education and understanding of what is going on physiologically in their bodies. I see people posting about eating no no foods and drinks and not using the right Proteins etc etc. The when can I drink question gets me too, but I'm not going to lie, I miss my wine so will try not to whine about my wine -

HI there! So sorry you are having challenges, but 6 days out you really don't have to worry about anything but healing which means getting in as much fluids as possible and walking as often as you can without trying to be a super hero, at this stage. Friends and Family try to be so helpful but they really don't understand the physiological differences we now have in general. I am just concerned that you are using the right type of Protein. We are different than the average person who can digest any types of Proteins and not worry about getting the essential amino acids etc etc. I'm guessing your protein is soy, those are the best tasting but not good for us. The best types are whey isolates but not everyone can tolerate them. I opted for a nectar because I was having a problem getting the "shake" types down and the most popular brand of premier which is 11oz is next to impossible in the first 4 weeks. Mine is 4 oz with 30gms of protein. I am in no way advertising or promoting any brand or connected to any company. My sister had RNY 10 years ago and is helping me so much along with my Surgeons support group, and although I have the sleeve which is not the same, the rules are pretty much the same. Feel free to keep in touch in you would like a buddy. -

5 days post op help
shancanssleevejourney replied to Misty101's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Perfectly Normal. Your body has just gone through a major trauma with Surgery and it's trying to heal itself. Get plenty of rest and walk when you can to keep the gas away, but don't try to be a super hero. I and many others I talk to are still struggling with being overly tired and I am 4 weeks out. The most important thing you can do at this stage is sip your fluids ALL day, don't let your glass go empty. Dehydration even slightly can make you feel very tired and weak. -
June 8th sleeve...things no one told me
shancanssleevejourney replied to work2Bskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You poor thing I was so lucky to not have any stomach spasms or Nausea. I really couldn't do anything more than liquids the first week and a half even the jello hurt. I also drank all my liquids at room temperature. I am almost 4 weeks out and cold stuff still slightly hurts. Don't forget to take stool softeners while you are on meds. You don't want to hurt yourself straining later -

What kind of exercise are you guys doing?
shancanssleevejourney replied to ldean7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not an expert but a 30 min walk every 3 hours seems excessive for only 4 days post op. I hope you are wearing a binder so you don't accidentally strain yourself. You definitely need to walk to get the gas out and help speed up recovery, but I don't think doing more than you are doing would be prudent at this early in the healing process. I would call your Dr. and find out exactly what they recommend for exercise at this point. -
I'm a sleever and was told no NSAIDS for life for exactly the reason quoted above, that it can cause ulcers which as the previous poster noted can be life threatening. I just experienced the worst cramps of my life 2 1/2 weeks post op. I also got them in my lower back which I did not used to get. I used tylenol which took the edge off but not enough to give full relief. Heating pads help and some people I know fill a milk carton with hot Water and hug it. I am hoping this particular cycle was worse due to the surgery and my body just still trying to heal. If not, I will be watching this thread myself. Thanks for the great question!

I am under the impression that carbonation is a no no for life. I think if you tried it, the pain would outweigh the benefit. pizza and Beer are just a short list of comfort foods that got us here in the first place. Just the thought of a flat beer sounds so gross to me. I am thinking you're not getting many responses because people don't want to come across as being judgmental in their replies. My thoughts are if your big concern is when you can have Beer and Pizza, you need to do some deep soul searching as to why you went with surgery in the first place. It isn't a magic pill and you still have to work really hard and give up some of the things you used to love and many bad habits such as eating too much, eating too fast, and eating the wrong combination of foods. I truly mean this in the most respectful manner. If you really are looking for Help, listen to those who are successful and I think you will find that the majority of the successful ones on here are following the guidelines set up before surgery and after. I wish you much success! -

Thank you all for your responses! I am sorry for not responding earlier as I had issues trying to figure out how to reply on my phone. Pain around lower left shoulder blade?

Hi I am 1 week out post op (june 8th) and have been having a bad pain around my lower left shoulder blade and slight mild pain in my left chest like if you could drive a stake right through, it would line up I was having this early post op but the meds took care of it, now it won't go away even with meds. Has anyone experienced this?
