  1. I couldn't agree more with what everyone has said. Good for you for searching for another team! Complete trust in your team will help so much. Plus, they work for you...not the other way around. How dare someone boss you around?!! You're obviously strong and smart. Keep the faith. You'll find someone who will listen and who you trust. Please do keep us posted. Good luck to you!!!

    Ugh. Another hurdle

Bless your heart! You've been through so much. First and foremost, congratulations of having been cured from cancer!!! I hate that horrible, insidious disease! I have faith your body will be ready to be cleared for the surgery soon. Until then, your body will be healing and bouncing back. Good luck!!!

    Inpatient or Outpatient

My experience was the same as @@kimlmt . Outpatient. Leak test was done while I was still under anesthesia from the surgery. I was not released without being able to do several things like take small sips of water and keep it down, walking without assistance, etc. I was fine when I left the surgery center. I knew, however, that if there were ANY issues, I would have been admitted to the hospital. I was also hopped up on 4 different anti-nausea meds because I have problems with anesthesia, and had also been given morphine for the pain!

    100 Pounds GONE!

    Congratulations!!!!!!
  5. This was a post by @@lisacaron today: "The first step in getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are." I understand that you love your family, but am I right in assuming you are doing this for you? You don't need permission. Standing up for yourself can be hard, but if your health is suffering, the best person to stand up for you is YOU! Wishing you the best of luck.

    Ate too much?

I'm 4 weeks out and think that the amount on your plate is fine... at least for my plan. I'm on soft foods and my plan calls for 2 one-half cup servings per meal. I can't do it. Not even close. I'm learning to listen to my body. That's a hard thing to do!
  7. First, congratulations!!!! I know what you mean about people may think a certain weight is still "big", but so many factors go into it. Your attitude about it all is inspiring to me. I love your posts. Keep on keeping on, girl!!

    Protein

Premier Protein ready-made shakes in vanilla and chocolate are my favorites. Just a quick note about unjury chicken soup Protein Powder...I bought some and was adding it to my blended Soups at a little under 2 weeks out to get in my protein after surgery. My weight loss nearly stopped at 2 weeks. Wasn't a stall...just slowed wwaayy down! Had a follow-up with surgeon and he said that Unjury chicken soup protein powder was way too high in sodium and was causing Water retention. I stopped using it and sure enough, the water retention went away and I started losing again. Your results may vary.
  11. I second what @@Djmohr said. Premier Protein ready made shakes are fabulous! Luckily, they were the first I tried when I started hunting before I even knew for sure I'd have the surgery. Good luck!!

    Today is the day!

Hi there! I am doing a good bit better. 8 days post op now and I have that feeling of pain or lump in my throat after only a few sips but I am able to get all my liquids and Protein in now. For the last few days I have done everything they said to do. Everyday I feel a bit better but it has not been fun. I liken this to giving birth and the week after. Total shock on my body. Thanks for checking on me. I'm so glad you're doing better. That is amazing you can get in all liquids and protein despite the pain! You're already excelling at this! Way to go!! I hope you continue to feel better each day. Blessings!!
  13. I am two weeks out today. I was weighing myself every day because, frankly, it felt really good to watch the numbers on the scale go down each day. I knew it was likely a bad habit to get into, so I decided to make Mondays my weigh-in days. The last time I weighed before today was exactly one week ago. I had been losing right at about one pound per day. I weighed this morning and only lost a TOTAL of 2 pounds this past entire week. I have not cheated on my diet plan once, I get in all my Protein, etc. My calories range from 300 to 450 (almost always on the lower side), I drink calorie-free drinks like decaf iced tea and flavored Water (zero calorie). I've looked everything up and, according to surgeons, my beginning weight was high enough where I should lose at least 1/2 to 1 pound per day for about the first 4 weeks. How is it possible to do every single thing right and only lose 2 pounds during the second week post-op? I feel devastated.

How can I be a failure already?

I know what the three week stall is. The weight loss of 2 pounds in a week happened from day 7 to day 14. I didn't realize something like this could happen this early.

@@njmomof4kidz Hi! Been worried about you. How are you feeling?

    4oz?

@@confusedgirl18 it can be tough to know what to do...especially so early on. My stomach hasn't healed enough for me to have a sensation of fullness yet, so i know what you mean about not wanting to overeat. The meal plans vary so widely, so you might want to call your NUT just to see what they recommend. For example, I'm still on full liquids and my surgeon wants me to have 1/4 to 1/2 cup of soup. I can do the half cup with no probs (that is 4 oz), but that’s probably because it's liquid. Just to show how different the plans are from doc to doc...I'm never to eat oatmeal. Isn't that weird? Good luck!

    Today is the day!

Yay!!!! I'm so glad the anti nausea meds are helping. I hope you continue to feel better! @mini-me007 I am wondering if you had the sleeve, did you feel pressure/pain like a gas bubble or the need to burp every single time you drank even 1 ounce? I am wondering if it is normal. My biggest complaint so far is that only once ounce is kinda painful still, I tried all day not to take my pain pills due to constipation but by the evening I really needed them and felt so much better. Today is day 4 day post op (surgery Monday, today is Friday) let me know if you had any similar experiences. Thank you!!! I'm sorry you're still having trouble with the pain. Ugh. The pain/pressure I've had since I was sleeved hasn't been like yours, however, I've seen other people here on the forums talk about experiencing what you are experiencing. Everything inside your abdomen is really swollen right now because of the surgery (especially your tummy) and the gas they pumped in there to do the surgery. All of that being said, if you're worried, definitely call your surgeon. Better to be on the safe side, plus I'm sure it will ease your mind. Let us know how you're doing!
  21. Congratulations!! You're amazing. Thank you so much for posting this. It was very thoughtful of you. Although I'm just starting my journey, I took notes so I can refer to them down the line.
