I am disabled with Bi Polar type 2 and I am an ex benzo addict ...so I can truly relate to what you are feeling and going thru! It sounds to me ..and I am not a DR..But it sounds like you are rapid cycling. That is bad news! You Know it and I know it! Left untreated you will continue to self medicate to try and balance out. It is easy to do! You do not even realize your balancing... you just do the lines of blow or take the 4 hits of Ex and then wonder why in the hell you did it! Trust me I have been there! But I will tell you what is really scary is that you are using while being on Effexor!! Can you say ...Stroke, Blood Clot or maybe a nice run of the mill massive Heart Attack for your kids to remember you by? I am excuse the pun...DEAD serious!!! If your going to make the poor choice to PARTY then come totaly off the Effexor! I would rather know you were totaly bottomed out by your Bi Polar than to have you be stupied and kill yourself on accident! I know you must be seeing some kind of Dr. because you are being perscibed the Effexor. You need to call that person NOW and get your meds adjusted and schedule some therapy. I also noticed in your post that you said do not like taking medication. Hey join the club, but sometimes life involves doing thing we do not like to live a peaceful normal life. In addition no wonder you are soo out of whack you have reduced your own Effexor without the help of a Dr. or Pharmacy! You know, our life is like our band....it's only as good as the choices we freely make. I think you have been making some really BAD choices. Get it together for kids if nothing else. I know you can do this! My heart goes out to you and my prayers are with you. Take good care!

I am severe Bi Polar Type 2 and recieve Social Security disability. I used to be ashamed to talk about my illness and would always say I was semi retierd..but then I thought if NO ONE talks about it how is anybody going to ever understand it? So if anyone is interested I am talking..Ha!

Funny this thread was the first one I saw this morning! Here is why..I take abot 12 pills ..yes 12 in the am and around 14 in the pm! I HATE it but thats the way it is. For a year now I have been getting sick taking my meds and I got plain sick and tired of it last night! Only 3 of my meds can be crushed, none come in liquids .. well I said the heck with it and CRUSHED all my pills to a fine powder and put them in pudding to take. Two big swallows later I was done no gagging ...no sliming no throwing up! It was wonderful! I did not know what the effects would be...but the only thing that happened was the side effects hit me faster and I fell asleep really fast. Other than that I was fine..I wish I could crush all the time! I am going to call Walgreens this am and see how much troulble this could cause if I did it on a regular basis. It was soo nice not to get sick on pills! Oh well we will see!

This is getting to be a real problem! Whenever I eat or drink NORMALY... I start to feel like a lump in the middle of my throat that will not go away until I bring it up! I know it's gross believe me and I know it is dangerous! It has gotten so bad that I need to keep a cup at my bedside because I wake up choking at night. My band had been way too tight last month and got a sizable unfill..I only have 1.8 in a 4cc band now.. so I do not feel that is the enemy. I have been staying on liquids and mushies and I still get the lump that wont go away and makes me feel like I am going to gag. About the only thing I have been able to keep down for the past month is Wendys Frostys and Chicken Noodle Soup..and yes thanks to that diet I have gained not lost weight even with all this misery. Has anybody else gone thru this too? What did you do? :help:

I had a history of bulimia prior to getting my band. It had been treated and under control for years. However since having this band it has reared its ugly head again in a very strong way! I have not had good luck with keeping things down since day one. Food and medications get stuck with every meal.When things get stuck.. I am bringing them up. This is happening soo much I have to keep a cup handy to purge in just in case I cannot get to the bathroom. Yes a vomit cup..no house should be without one! ha! [i have to make fun of it or I would cry.] I do not get it! I take my time, take teeny bites and chew till goo! I finaly got so frustrated I resorted to soft foods which has..for me meant weight gain not loss! Everytime I go for a check up they do a Floro and say my band is fine! I have a 4cc band and have 1.8 fill. But the bottom line is I am spending way too much time with my head over the toilet again! The ability to purge so easily based on my history is not a good asset to bring to the table. My old habit is not helping an already very bad sittuation! I am seeing a therapist about my bulimia, so at least you know I consider that a priority. What do you think I need to do? Thanks!

Not No but ....HELL NO! If my heart and personality was not good enough before it sure is not good enough now! If all they care about is my physical beauty then I do not want them! I will tell you what..it would be a whole different world out there if all we ever looked at and cared about was a man's WHO_HA! Men would be alot more humble.But Geeze! What a nightmare that would be? But back to this... I sware it is sittuations like this that make you want to give up trying to date and just be alone with dogs and cats! Just my take on it.

I guess it is the stress of the holidays and the fact that my depression {bipolar 2} is so much worse this time of the year...But I am having a very hard time controling my bulimia. The urge to purge everything I eat is almost overwhelming. I am working with my therapist but it is still bad! Anybody else fighting the eating disorder deamons right now? If so what do you do to cope?

:rip: Peter Boyle who played the father on Everybody Loves Raymond died today. he had been sick with multiple melanoma and heart problems. He was also famose for being Frankenstein in the movie Young Frakenstein. The acting world had a bight star burn out today! Our prayers to his loved ones.

I used to have to wear the scary mask ..the whole 9 yards because mine was really bad. I lost 20 pounds and I no longer need to sleep with all that stuff. I still snore ..but the apnea is basicly gone. Good luck to you!

Because you wont be able to see your Who-Who without lifting up your lovely tummy first! And even then it takes a minute down there! Ha! Sorry but ya know it's true! I cannot remember the last time me or anybody else for that matter saw mine! Should I file a missing Who - Who report?

Florida has been smoke free for awhile now, you can finaly call it the Sunshine State again because you can see the sun again now that the smoke has cleared! ha! There is a loop hole in our law. You can still go to The Hard Rock Seminole Indian Reservation Casino in Tampa and puff all you want!

OMG do I wish that were the case with me! Count your blessings, chocolate goes in the band VERY easy! I fight my cravings everyday! Sometimes I do not win sad to say.

I have been banded a year now and am still struggling because of my poor choices! I am on the right track now and I will succeed THIS time around! But honest to God the band is a great TOOL and only a TOOL! It is only as good as the choices you make! It is better to walk into this with you eyes wide open than with rose colored glasses on.
