    BCBS FEP approval

My bariatric center contacted me, then a few hours later they contacted me directly because my surgeon is out of network and they wanted to make sure I was aware of that.

    Just got my approval!

I'm officially approved! My surgeon's office submitted my paperwork yesterday and they just called me to say it was approved! 10 more days until surgery! I am so excited as I was extremely worried that I was going to have to wait another month. Hoooooray!

  14. My surgeon says 2-3 protein shakes (breakfast and dinner preferably), a fruit for am and pm snacks (Apple, pear, or orange), and a salad for lunch with 6g protein. This is for 3 weeks total.

    Gastric Sleeve August 26, 2015

I am from NY. I have completed all of my requirements, but I do not have an approval yet. I have to go for 1 last weigh in on 8/3 so they can submit to insurance.

    Gastric Sleeve August 26, 2015

    I'm scheduled for Aug 14th
  17. I have a coworker that I see heading down this road. She is only 10 1/2 weeks out, but she doesn't listen to anything that she's told. At slightly over a month out she ate an entire slice of NY pizza, she orders Chinese food with white rice for lunch, today she went on break with a gallon sized ziplock bag half filled with carrots and celery along with an entire canister of homemade dip. She ate half of what was there. I don't even know where she put it. That's great that you are eating healthy, but I was told to start each meal with protein, then veggies. She said she will just make sure to have a premier protein shake and a premier protein bar every day, so that her protein is covered and she eat what she wants. She gets sick after every meal, but she just doesn't care. Then she has the nerve to say "I gained 3 pounds this week. I can't understand why since I had the surgery. I should be losing without effort." All I have to say is that I am learning WHAT NOT TO DO.
  18. That's a great idea. I can't do that with most of my family, but Mom and maybe Dad would come to an informational session. I want to make sure things are rolling and I have answers to my own questions before I tell them. Thank you for the suggestion. pam I wish you the best of luck and hopefully they see things in a different way after attending.
  19. I just want to say that my mom is one of those skinny people that can eat anything and never gain an ounce. She was never very supportive. She just always said what everyone else says. "Just eat less and you will lose". She didn't realize that it's not that easy. I brought her with me to the informational seminar so she could hear the science behind it straight from the horse's mouth. She learned a lot and now she is my biggest supporter.
  20. I am still pre-op, but my list says that I can have soft boiled and poached, but not scrambled eggs when I get to that stage.
  21. I have FEP BASIC also. They require the 3 months of weigh ins. I am currently at 40 bmi and I was told to maintain my weight until my last weigh on 8/3, then start pre-op diet for surgery schedule 8/14. It is killing me that I have to eat so much food to maintain when all I want to do is start my better eating habits. I agree with the "wear heavy clothes" comment. My first weigh I was under 40 and they can't include that weigh for the insurance approval, that's why I need my Aug weigh.

When will I learn to eat slower?!

There is an iPhone app called "eat slower" and it is basically a timer telling you when to take the next bite.

    Liver shriking diet question...

Wow I can't believe how little they expect you guys to eat! I start mine on 8/3 and I was told 2-3 protein shakes (breakfast and dinner preferred), 2 snacks of fruit, and lunch is a salad with 6 ounces of lean protein on it.
