  1. There was a post about potassium on here earlier. A lot of people said the sugar bothered them. I started having to take a supplement.
  2. My right lower abdomen started hurting after I ate and when I was exercising, sometimes when I was exercising the pain would work its way around to my back. When I first went to dr about it I thought it was just my muscles righting and my body adjusting, after having it out and having only incision pain I know I felt it longer than what I was telling the dr. I kinda felt like there was something stuck under my ribs. If you think you are having any issues they send you for an ultra sound to look at Gallbladder, so I would talk with your dr. I wish I would have earlier because this pain (feels like a few days out of sleeve surgery, just hard to stand up from laying or sitting) is easier to deal with than the gallbladder pain itself.
  3. I have been going to planet fitness for the last four months as my hubbies guest. I joined yesterday as my own member and she gave me a large shirt. I kinda laughed and just took it thinking I will be able to wear it in a month or two. I came home and tried it on. It fit!!! On Thanksgiving I wore a pair of large yoga pants and they fit!!! I am so excited as I have not worn a large size since I was probably about 14(I am 40)!!! I worked out today, I did my first full body workout instead of just working my legs or arms. Then I tanned!!! Yes I have not done that since high school for a dance. But I want to look good as well as feel good and be tan is a goal as I have not worn shorts since middle school because I felt like I was to big to wear them. So I am going to be ready to wear shorts and maybe swimsuit shorts:) I am excited!!! Going to Atlanta over spring break and maybe it will be warm enough to swim which I have not done in 20 years!!
  4. Today I am just sore, one of the cotton dressing got caught on my sports bra and came off, the incision looks about as big as the four smaller sleeve ones. It is just sore when you are getting up or down, just about like the sleeve. I did get up and go see my daycare kiddos today for awhile. I took one pain pill yesterday and one today, that's it. I am planning on doing everything by myself tomorrow. My two teenaged daughters watched my four daycare kiddos today.

    Finding it hard to believe...

I have to stop myself from buying clothes because they are too big. Bi have always thought of myself as a big person and when I go shopping it is amazing that I have to put up the size I thought I was and go for a smaller size. My surgery was on June 15th and my highest weight was 265 wearing a size 22-24. Now My weight is 185, and wearing a size 14. I am always looking for clothes on swap shops because I don't want to pay full price when I know I will only be in that size for awhile. I just had gallbladder remove yesterday and am hoping that I can excise more since after about 25-30 mins I had to stop because of the pain. I am hoping to get to a size 12 and medium by the end of January. I hold my clothes up when folding them and think that they are my teenaged daughters. I still don't believe that it is happening, but it is!!! Hang in there and treat your self to smaller clothes and hang them up where you can see them, makes for a motivation!!!
  7. I had my surgery at noon today. Not sick with this one like the sleeve. They gave me so much anti-nauseous meds and no morphine. I really think I got so sick last time from the morphine, so I kept telling them that and they just added it to my allergy list. The pain is a lot like the sleeve, just sore when getting up from laying down and sitting down getting up. I go back in a week and hopefully he releases me to go back to the gym. I am really looking forward to working out for longer than 20 -30 mins without pain. I will update if anything changes or in a week when I go back for my check up. BTW-I had one very large manderian orange sized stone with lots of little ones, so my gallbladder was larger than normal. I had my sleeve preformed on June 15, 2015 and am down 80 lbs.

    Goal Weight Setting

I just choose a weight that I would be happy with and that I knew would be attainable. Starting weight Jan 8- 265, Surgery June 15 @ 240, my goal weight is 165 and right now I am at 185, so very reasonable and very attainable. Surgery for gall bladder on Tuesday so it will be alittle longer as I will not be going to gym for the next few weeks, but I know I will make it soon:)
  12. Happy scale:) love that it just tracks my weight, I got a fit bit for CHRISTmas and will be using it to track everything else.

Stinkin stall is pissing me off!

Maybe mix up your exercise routine, I stalled and changed around everything and then lost 5 pounds after a three week stall. Sometimes no matter what you do it will just take sometime for your mind and body to register all the changes.

    Gall bladder?

I am 6 months out and started having problems a few weeks ago and am having surgery Tuesday to get it removed as I have a very large stone.
  16. Well just got back from the surgeon, surgery is set for Tuesday, dec 29. He said that it was one of the largest stones he has ever seen. Hopefully it goes as smooth as we talked about today, which is arriving 11am for 12 surgery, recovery 12:45-1:30 and home by 4pm, said I could do as much activity as I can tolerate after surgery.
  17. I had my 6 month check up today and the dr was running late which was annoying. Then he walks in the door saying "Well.....you haven't lost much". I was upset. I started my journey Jan 8, 2015 at 265. Surgery was June 15(sleeve) and I was 240. Today I weighed in at 186. I was happy with how I look and feel, I think I still am I am just upset that the Doctor would walk in the door saying that. I start tonight with my personal trainer and I am going to take out my frustrations on him and in my workout!! Why would a doctor say such a thing!!! Plus I was having some pain on my right side which is wrist when I work out and I don't want to stop working out to wait the six months he suggest. So I came home and called my family dr he is sending me for a gallbladder ultrasound. I am just at a loss to go back to my dr who did surgery or just follow up with my family dr from now on.

    So..........6 month check up

I talked with the office manager and this is what is going on...... First, they have a new computer system that did not record my weigh in at the appt. my weigh was in the computer as 200 still from my 3 month check up. Second, he had someone else in the room with him, which I didn't know who it was and didn't want to talk in front of. So he didn't know that for two weeks my daughter was in hospital and I wasn't able to go to gym. I didn't say anything about this with not knowing who was in the room with in( come to find out it was a medical student) Third, they gave me the results of my blood work and everything was in the normal range. Office manager said he should have introduced who was in room with him, also since there was no weigh change-he should have double checked with the nurse before coming in room. Also she doesn't know why he didn't go over the blood work while I was there. I told her that I know he was running late, but so many things wrong in one office visit really needed to be addressed and she said yes. So that makes me feel better. But the whole gallbladder pain I complained about should have been looked at more as I was sent to get an ultra sound by family dr and am seeing a surgeon today to have it removed ASAP as it is full of usually large stones. She said she would talk to him and call me back. Still deciding if I want to go back or not. If he was in such a hurry and didn't address any of my concerns than how do I know if I have any other problems it might not be like that again. My family dr said if I would have waited the six months he suggested I might have been in ER with even more problems. So I am still wondering what to do. I guess time will tell if I keep my June 2016 appt or not.

    Beef Jerky

I have ate beef jerky since I was about 3 months, great for trips and when we go camping as a snack when everyone else is having theirs. I have never had any problems. High protein and low carb!

Tell me about odd weight loss patterns

I have a weird pattern too!!! I will lose for a week, week and a half then nothing for a week. It has happened since I was about 2 months out. I think my body needs that rest period to get going. Last week I lost three and half pounds, this week I am up half a pound. I work out 6 days a week and eat almost the same thing everyday, so I know it is not my diet or that I am off track. Just my body doing its part to rest and get ready for the next week.
  21. Yes I think that doctors need to say something about the possibility of having to have your gall bladder removed. My surgeon never mentioned this and it would have been something that I would have liked to have known. I am 6 months out from surgery. So it must be around the 5-9 month mark where this happens.

    Kansas city area sleevers?

I started to have some leg cramps and I was sometime low on potassium before surgery so I started taking a supplement, my back hurt for a few weeks but I think it was because I lost enough weight that I needed to get my back adjusted. Went to chiropractor and my back sounded like a music instrument making all kinds of noise. I am pretty sure that your spine compensates for all the extra weight and when it starts coming off it needs to be adjusted. I have went a few times since surgery and after adjustment I feel better and my back doesn't hurt.

    So..........6 month check up

Ok so an update: Called my regular doctor and I am getting an ultra sound on my gallbladder tomorrow. I also asked him if he felt comfortable taking over my care, which is basically my blood work in 6 months than once a year after that, he said sure. My family doctor I have had for 18 years, I started going to him when he first started and love how he really cares for his patients!! I am going to be calling Dr. prices office manager in a bit to talk to her about what happened yesterday. We will see what is said, and go from there. But my family dr is about 5 mins from my house and dr price is about 30-45, in rush hour times it has taken me an hour to get home from his office.

    So..........6 month check up

You have to take what personal trainers, even nutritionists, say with a grain of salt. As bariatric patients we have special needs. A personal trainer has not had training in what a bariatric patient needs. He can tell you how to work out and use good form using weights, that's about it. He cannot and should not give you nutritional advice unless he's been trained to deal specifically with bariatric patients. Unless a nutritionist specializes in bariatrics, they will tell you to focus more on veggies and grains than protein. Wrong. We have a lot less room and NEED protein. Also, my weight stalls when I don't eat enough calories. Thankfully my primary doctor is smart and told me at a year out for my height I should be eating at least1,200 calories a day. I was still eating 800-1,000. I increased calories and weight started coming off again. I know your doctor was a jerk and your personal trainer sounds like he knows what he's talking about (he doesn't) but all you have to do is the basic rules we were given from day 1. Have you been tracking calories and macros? I suggest getting MyFitnessPal and seeing exactly how many calories you are eating so you can see if you need to increase them. it was the dr that told me to put down the food, I was just thinking about my dr's appt was I was working with the personal trainer. With the little amount of food I eat I have never tracked or keep record of it. I know that I get the 50-80 grams of protein in and that is what my nut was worried about. I am going to start tracking so just invade I decide to go back to dr that did surgery I can tell him look, this is what I am consuming.
