    QUESTION

It depends on what I eat. If I eat chicken breast, I might eat a few bites and be full. If I am eating soup I can eat a small bowl and be happy. I run a home daycare, and if lunch gets crazy I forget to eat, and sometimes for dinner I might just have a string cheese and be full. I have to make myself eat a spoonful of peanut butter before bed because I haven't got enough calories for the day. I am almost 8 months out and I still have days where I only get 700-800 calories in because I simply forget to eat or am not hungry.
  2. I came home from the hospital on soft foods like refried beans and mashed potatoes. But my dr had a plan and that was what it was.

    Gall bladder surgery

My gallbladder was taken out Dec 29,2015. I started having pains and would also feel sick after I ate. I went to my six month check up and my WL surgeon said if it got worse to call. I called my family dr and got a sonogram the next day and the general surgeon said it needed to come out now. This was Tuesday before Christmas and I asked if we could put it off until after Christmas since it was my grand babies first Christmas and I ended up in bed most of Christmas wishing I would have just had the surgery. I had surgery on the 29 and since I had meet my out of pocket I didn't pay anything and I have been fine since then. The pain for gallbladder surgery is nothing like my sleeve surgery, I run a home daycare and was back to work the next day:) good luck and don't wait, it can/will cause further issues!!!

    Left scapula pain

Your gallbladder is on the right and would hurt on right under your ribs and maybe around to your back. I had to have it removed 6 months after my sleeve surgery.

    Any Missouri people

i had Atena-seminar on Jan. 8, 2015-Surgery June 15, 2015, only required to do 4 visits with Nut, blood work, EKG, chest X-Ray. Went pretty fast and I actually put surgery off for two weeks because of my vacation. Kansas City area.
  6. I have been to the gym everyday, one day I do: 20 mins on tread mill, leg machines, 20 mins on bike, arm machines. Next day 30 mins on treadmill, and 30 mins on bike. I am happy and worn out by the time I am done. Sleeping well and drinking over 60oz of water a day. Getting in my protein but the scales have not moved in a while. Surgery was June 15(weighed in at 240) I weigh 190 now but haven't loss in two weeks and started going to gym everyday November 28 and that stupid scale is not moving!!! I am frustrated to say the least!!! I am not going to stop weighing everyday, because before when I stop (on several diet attempts before) that is when I start gaining. I know that probably isn't going to happen now but I feel better knowing I am staying the same than I would not knowing the number. Any ideas or tips, for what else to add?
  7. I do not have experience with the procedure you are having, but I have done my surgery and didn't even tell my husband. He went to Chili the week after I had my surgery and he still hasn't figured out what is going on in my world. I told a couple of people at work but that is it. I have been able to keep things at a minimum by telling people I had my gall bladder removed, just a minor omissioin as I did have my gall bladder removed. Most people think this is why I have given up bread, rice, Pasta, fat...etc and then I just tell them that the liquid diet I did right after surgery must have made my stomach smaller and that's why I don't hardly eat anything any more. I eat a lot of soup at lunch when we go out and take my lunch if we don't have vendors in. Now, that said. I didn't have any complications and was back at work three days later. I went out and walked the dogs and was getting around with no issues. If you have any issues it may not be easy to keep things a secret. I can tell you that I went out to lunch with some co-workers at three weeks out and ate something that didn't agree with me - while I don't think it was super obvious, I had to high tail it to the bathroom!!!! You need to be prepared for situations like that if you keep this a secret. what will you do if later on you have any problems or other medical issues and they need to know you had sleeve?

    Gall bladder?

You get an ultra sound of your abdominal area and they can see the stones. Not to bad unless they push really hard and then it's a little tender. Hang in there!!! It is a breeze compared to the sleeve surgery:)

Was it worth it Pro's and Cons

I just posted my journey from start to today, you can look it up if you want. I can say I love this "new" life this surgery has given me:)
  14. I have posted several time but thought I would put my whole journey in one post for those beginning. I started my journey by calling insurance company in Dec of 2014 to see what they covered as far as weight loss. I was told a couple of dr's names and did a little research on dr's. I called one office and set up my seminar for Jan 8, 2015. As I waited for my appt I did even more research and when I went to seminar, I had already decided if I qualified I was wanting to get the sleeve surgery. Seminar came and when it was over you could set up a consultant with dr, so I chose the first time that would fit with my schedule, which was in February. I went in February and they told me what my insurance expected of me, which was 4 appts with a Nut and exercise therapist and 3 month diet plan. So I scheduled my appts and started the journey and told myself I could change my mine at anytime. I lost about 5-10 pounds on my supervised diet plan and finished all four appts faster than I thought I would, at the end of May at my last class they handed me a paper stating I had done everything I needed to do and had turned in all background paper and was ready to summit to insurance. I said great and left thinking it would be awhile. The next week I was on vacation and they called to schedule surgery!!! I set up my pre-op for the following week and surgery for June 15. Looking back it happened so fast. I went to my pre op appt and since it was close to surgery they asked if I had started my pre op diet(which I had not). I got my blood work, cheat X-Ray, and an EKG while I was there. I came home and started the pre op diet the next day as told. I lost about 10-12 pounds on pre op diet and day of surgery weighed in at 240. Had surgery at 11 and was in room by 3. My dr required a min of 2 days stay. All was going good until that night. I was up all night long getting sick which made me even more uncomfortable. I slept all the next day and got sick again that night. I told them I thought it was from the morphine and sure enough as soon as they took my IV out I was fine. Came home on Wednesday and slept all day, which caught me up on my sleep. Got up Thursday and was sore by kinda laid me bed all day as I run a home daycare and didn't want the kiddos to hurt me. Friday I came out to the living room and played with kiddos and moved around a lot. By the end of the next week I was going to the church and walking the indoor track(about half a mile). At the end of the third week I was going to gym and walking a mile in about 30 mins. Fast forward to December I started having really bad pains in my right side and went to have an ultrasound done on my Gallbladder were they found a huge stone. I had to stop going to gym while I waited 6 days for surgery(over Christmas). I had my gallbladder removed on Dec 29, 2015 at a surgery center and was home within 4 hours of arriving. I did awesome and I told them how sick I was after my sleeve surgery and they gave me everything they could to help that and I didn't even feel as though I was going to get sick. I was told no gym until my check up a week later. I went for check up on Tuesday and started back at the gym Wednesday. I am now able to do the treadmill for 30-35 mins which I am at an incline of 5.5 and speed 3.8 and go about 2 miles and I do the stationary bike for 30 mins and I go 6 miles. Then this week I am adding in weights as my surgeon said give it a few weeks. I weighed today and am at 179.6!!! I have not been that weight since middle school(now 40). I am wearing a size med yoga pants or a size 13 jeans and shirts I am wearing a large, but I haven't went shopping for any large so I am mostly swimming in my extra large shirts. After my gallbladder surgery I went back to protein shake for breakfast, ham and cheese roll up for lunch and a small dinner of chicken and some veggie or fruit. Then I normally have to eat a cheese stick and peanut butter at night to get my calories up to 900-1000. I am still wanting to lose about 20 pounds and then I will try maintenance, but I am going to be watching what my body does and will be happy with what every it decides to do. NSV this week was seeing someone I haven't seen in about 3 years and them going on about how good I look. Of course my hubby and parents tell me that all the time, but it is nice when it comes from someone you haven't seen in a long time and at the gym no less!!!!! Hope everyone else is doing well and loving the "new" you!!!

    Allergic reaction

Yes I have had 4 different surgeries and I have had allergic reactions to the glue and the strips. I have always taken the strips off after about 4 days. I also use a antibiotic ointment on it as soon as the last strip is off. I had my first surgery in 2006 and found this out the hard way after a severe car accident that caused both bones in my arm to brake. Then I had a very large incision and it took a while for it to heal. I also had a breast biopsy, my sleeve and then gall bladder surgery 3 weeks ago. It only last about 2 weeks and if you put cream on maybe less. Hope this helps.

    Sleeve Newbie

I turned 40 in April and had my surgery on June 15, 2015. I only had four NUT appointments as a insurance requirement for my surgery, everyone else in the class had six. It went so fast that I was on vacation when they called to schedule surgery and when I went for my pre-op, only a week later I should have already started my pre-op diet, so I came home from my pre-op and started the diet the next day. That night we went out for Mexican, that is my favorite!! Good Luck and enjoy the ride:)

    Addicted to weighing

I weigh everyday to, but I know it is just a number and if it goes up that just tells me I have to watch what makes it to my plate. It really doesn't bother me that much. If it helps put the scale away for a while. I always weigh in the mornings and sometimes I will weigh in the evenings but I now know about how much the scale will go up durning the day and it doesn't make a difference in how I feel about myself. But if it bothers you, you need to get rid of it for a while as stress can/does cause weight gain!!

Love my Fitbit charge HR...but it causes rashes!

I am allergic to Latex and have broken out in a rash. I just take it off at night or losses it and move it up my wrist and put some Neosporin on the rash it goes away. I don't know if that could be the cause or not. But it has helped me stay on track so I just deal with it.

    Almost 9 months out

At the six month mark my dr said that the weight loss would slow. I had my surgery on June 15 and I have lose 86 pounds. Since Thanksgiving I have only lost about 10 pounds. I am actually going to be on a liquid diet today to "reset" my pouch and get all the cravings out of my system. I have not been eating bad until yesterday. I have a couple of Oreo cookies and I made the kids take them to school with them today so they were out of the house and I couldn't eat them:). But I have been still eating protein grist and getting about 60+, which is what my dr requires. I have been drinking 60+ ozs of water, and have been getting in about 900-1000 calories a day. I have also been going to the gym at least 4-6 times a week and burning around 400-450 calories when I go. I am beyond frustrated and that is why I am going to be on a liquid diet today to see if it helps or not. Good luck!
