    What's your exercise routine

I go to the gym at least 3x a week and while I am there I go 2 miles on treadmill(about 30 mins) I also use the bike and go 4 miles(about 20 mins) then I was doing just leg strengthening(about 15-20 mins). I had my 2 month check up yesterday and finally got released to do whatever I wanted so now I will be stepping it up on my tummy and arms!! When I am not at the gym I have a treadmill and go for about 45 mins or 3 miles. I am losing about half a pound a day doing this and after about 10-15 pounds I will stall for a week or two and then I really kick my butt at the gym and do about 10 miles because I am frustrated and I break my stall.
  2. The night of my surgery and the next night. The Pain meds made me horrible sick and I threw up all night and then would sleep all day. They gave me shots for it also and I would continue to get sick. After I quite the IV pain meds I was fine and got released. Only take the pain meds if you need them. My hubby thought he was helping me by pushing the button as I slept but really that was what was making me sick. When I got home and was only taking the oil pain meds I was fine. Make sure that you get up and walk around. It will help you heal faster. I have a grandson and at time of surgery he was 1, I could pick him up and hold him fine. I also run a home daycare and had surgery on Monday and by Friday I was sitting in the chair in my living room with my back up provider and joining in on some activities. By Monday I was on the floor and enjoying the kiddos again. By the end of week 2 I was walking a mile and feeling great. By the end of week three I was going about 2 1/2 miles on treadmill at gym. Now 8 weeks out I am going 2 miles on treadmill, 4 miles on bike and doing some leg strengthen and I just got released yesterday to do what ever!! I am down 50 lbs as of today which is 2 months out. This was and is the best thing that I have ever chose to do and would recommend this for anyone struggling to lose or keep the weight off. I am so glad I did this and the first two days are a very distant memory and I would go through that all over again if needed.
  3. I am 40 years old and started out at 260, day of surgery 240, current 213.4. I was sleeved on June 15. I was sent home from hospital on purée and can now eat anything that I want. I have had some problems with certain foods and have gotten sick a few times and I have learned my lesson. I go to the gym, or walking track at least three times a week and can go 3 miles on treadmill in about 45 mins. I also use the stationary bike and some leg weights. I have not been released to pick up anything over 25 lbs. I go to dr next Wednesday and am excited to get released to start strength training. I am hoping with that I drop a few more pounds. I am kinda stuck at where I am and am getting anxiety that I am not going to be where the dr thinks I should be. I have gotten rid of all my size 24,22,20 & 18 jeans and I have a few size 16's that I am excited to wear but need to get this weight off so I can. I think that my mind is more into this than my body. I have only been taking one day off of excising a week and I feel as though there is something else I could be doing to make this happen faster. I really have only been eating meat and only about 2 oz per meal, because I feel full. I don't really snack a lot and drink plenty of water. Any advise?
  4. For the last 3 weeks I would go up and down about a pound on the scales. I got pretty bummed. I finally took it all out at the gym on my body on Monday. I walked on the treadmill at a pace of 4.0 and did two miles then I went to bikes and did another 4 miles. I was so worn out I came home and passed out. I woke up the next morning (Tuesday) and had lost a pound and half. Today I weighed myself again and had lost 0.8 lbs. I am now 10 lbs away from my first big reward of an hour massage!!! I can not wait till I hit the 199 mark!!! I have not felt this good, energetic, and happy in years. I have already gotten rid of all my fat clothes and just bought some leggings until I can get down to closer to where I want to be. As an added bonus, my hubby was rubbing my shoulders yesterday and said "you have nothing here anymore, it is all bone" which made me feel good also!!! I can finally see the changes in my body after losing 50 lbs!! BTW: surgery was on June 15 Starting weight 260 Surgery weight 245 Today 210
  5. I went to the church to the walking track tonight and my daughter wanted to go, so I said whatever. When we got there she said she had to use the restroom and I went ahead and started walking. I was on Lap 4(16 laps is a mile) and she walked with me but kept telling me to slow down I was walking to fast. She finally gave up on lap 12 and started playing on her iPhone while I finished my three mile walk. That made me feel very good!!! I am 40, current weight 214.4, I have lost 46 lbs to date. I can not Believe that my 13 yo could not hang with me, kinda makes me laugh!!
  6. I had my sleeve done on June 15, 2015, my high weight was: 260 before surgery, I currently weight 214.4, I am 5'2" and 40 years old. I meet my husband in high school and was over weight, when we got married I was 232lbs. We both went to the seminar on Jan 8, 2015. He was told his BMI was under the 40 that our insurance required to do the surgery but that I qualified. He was ok but didn't go to any of the appts. For the 4 month required time or my pre-op. Which was weird as he has always gone with me in the past of anything that required surgery. As my four month diet past and my two week pre-op diet past I never thought anything about it. We were changing the things we bought at the store and he was in a diet also. He even started taking protein shakes with me. The day of surgery he went with my to the hospital at 7:30am check in and didn't leave until I went to bed for the night. The next day he was there bright and early and found out I had a rough nite, even though I slept all day he stayed until around his bedtime and came back the next morning to find out I had another rough nite and stay until bed. The next day I got released and he was there when the nutritionist, doctors assistant, and exercise person came in and listened to all of it. He was very supportive when I came home. Helping me remember my pills/vitamins and he would warm me up some soup and bring it to me as I had to stay in the bedroom as my daughter was my backup for my daycare and the kiddos were here. My husband currently works from home also and was a big help checking on me durning his breaks and lunches. As time went on and I have joined him at the gym and my weight is going down he seems to be get more upset that he can not lose as fast and finally yesterday In causal conversation we were talking about our weight and getting ready to go to the gym. I had so much energy the two days before that the house was cleaned top to bottom and I had walked 3 miles both days. I knew the scales were going to move a lot because when I start bouncing off the walls they move. I weighed and I had lost 1 lb in those two days and as we were talking he said he lost .2, and that I had taken the "easy way out". We went to the gym and I took this out on my body, pushing myself and going 3 miles in 45 mins on the treadmill. I thought I was over it but woke up mad today and confused on what to do or say to him. I am glad that I had surgery and I was tired of the yo-yo effect the diets had on my body. I am glad to be rid of those 46 lbs forever, but now I am worried about my husband's feelings. I can not control my body and tell it to slow down to his pace and I can not tell him to stop eating to lose weight so I am at a loss! Any suggestion are welcome. Thank you!
  7. Thanks for the different point of views. It has made me think all day of how to handle this situation.

    Gastric sleeve

i completely understand!!! Everyone told me to get up and moving and the weight would come off, but it came back on just as easy. I had me surgery on June 15, and altogether I have lost 46 lbs and it feel so much easier to get moving and going. I have so much energy!!! My house is always clean(which is amazing as I run a home daycare) and I also walk about 3-4 miles a day. Before I could walk to the mailbox and be winded! So, take this step and be proud of your self for bettering you and take this time to focus on you and what your "new" you will be????????
  9. I want to take a second honeymoon on a cruise ship, but was always so nervous about wearing a bathing suit. It will be our 20 year anniversary this year and we are going to start saving and we are going on a cruise for our 25 year anniversary. Also running/jogging in a 5k. Doesn't sound like much but moving before was difficult so now I am excited to see me do this!!!
  10. Yesterday after kiddos were picked up(I run a home daycare) I cleaned both bathrooms, vacuumed living room rug, kitchen rug and my bedroom, swept kitchen, living room, hallway, filled soap and toilet paper in three bathrooms, did laundry, did dishes by hand and started dishwasher, and played and feed dog. Today after all the kiddos got picked up. Met a lady to sell an item on swap, walked 3.5 miles, picked up my daughter from work, a quick dinner at Chipotle, came home and pushed mowed the outline of the back yard and then mowed, feed and played with Sadie(our dog)started laundry, did dishes by hand and started dishwasher, gather and took out the trash, now I am just sitting down trying to relax. All these happen between 6 to 8:30-9pm. Then when I do sit down I think of something else that needs done!!! I know when my energy level is up like this and I am literally bouncing off the walls is when the scales jump down a pound of two. I am hoping that soon it will calm down because my family is says that I am wearing them out! LOL!!!!

    Very high energy level

I had my surgery on June 15,2015. I have lost a total of 46 lbs as of today. Just today I lost .5 lbs. I know when I get so much energy like this the scales more anywhere from .5-2 lbs. it is crazy to be bouncing off the walls like I do, but I try and do useful things around the house and try and walk a little farther when I walk laps.

    1 year Surgiversary!

Congrats on all your hard work!!! You look good!!!
  13. Oh my!!! What a difference!!! Congrats on all your hard work and effort!! You look good!!
  14. I have had and still do (since surgery)have problems going to sleep and staying asleep. I am 6 weeks out. I will lay in bed sometimes for 2 hours before I go to sleep and sometimes I wake up and stay up for a couple of hours. Before surgery I would have no problems falling asleep. Sometimes my hubby would have to wake me up to go to bed. I have been exercising in the late evenings to try and help this and if I push myself I use all my energy and I have a little easier time but that is the only thing I have tried that was worked.
  15. I woke up this morning after pushing myself at the gym yesterday, and I was so excited!! The scales said 215!!!! I have lost 45lbs since my journey started!!! I am so much happier and I can get around easier I also have so much more energy!!! I can't believe the difference this surgery makes in your life!!! I am Loving, loving, loving my sleeve!!!!

Roll call all who had surgery JUNE 2015

I was sleeved on June 15, I started at 257-260, I am now down to 216.7 as of today!!! So I am down 43 lbs. I am eating 2-3 ozs twice a day with a snack of something protein. I am hoping to get down to 199 before my next dr appt August 5.
  18. My story is I was over weight since I was little. I have lost and gained so many times. I finally found out our insurance paid for the surgery. I told my parents I was seeing a nutritionist, as I run a home daycare and my mom is my back up provider. I went to the seminar in January followed all the appts needed by my insurance and had surgery on June 15. I lost about 10 lbs before surgery and since I have lost 34 1/2 lbs. I am excited that I have so much energy. I walk 5-6 days a week about 3-4 miles. I am eating just about anything I want. But I can only eat about 3 ozs at a time. Drinking all the water I can. I can not stand protein shakes and have not drank a single one since surgery. I am only eating protein and getting just as much as I was before surgery. I didn't eat a lot of meat before surgery, so I think my body is used to it. I went out and bought an up Jawbone which keeps track of your steps, activity levels, and food intake. I bought my husband one too and you can compete for who can take the most steps as he is dieting too. I have gotten sick a few times from eating something that didn't set well with my new tummy. But I have been doing great! I ate lettus and tomatoes on my meat yesterday for the first time and have not had an issue. I love me some tomatoes, so I was excited! Hope everyone else is doing good!

    June 2015 sleevers

I used an ice pack on my right side/large incision for the first few weeks and also when I first started to work out. Might want to try and see if that helps:)

    June 2015 sleevers

I hit another stall from Friday to today when the scales finally moved 1.8 lbs. I walked/biked 3 1/2 miles Saturday, took Sunday off, went 3 miles Monday and the Tuesday 3 1/2 miles, took yesterday off and finally they moved. I know that they will move it is a matter of following the plans. I wish I would lose faster but my body has other plans and it seems to need to catch up a lot:)

    Back pain

I had surgery to remove part of my L5/S1 in December of 2013, had problems with sitting and standing for long periods before surgery. I have lost a total of 41 lbs and have no problems with my back at all. It is a lot easier to move and get around with the extra weight putting strain on my back:) good luck to both of you as you start your journey!!!

    June 2015 sleevers

My before surgery weight was 257-260, my day of surgery weight was 240, I am now at 219. I am 5'2", and my goal is 160. I didn't set a goal with my surgeon, but I think that might come at my next appt. on August 5. I am pretty much eating anything, but I can only eat about 5-7 bites before I get full so really I am only eating protein. I have been walking about 2 1/2-3 miles a day. I have only been released to pick up 25 lbs so no strength training yet. I can not stand the protein shakes so I have not been drinking them, but get my water in pretty easily. Here is a picture of my progress so far.
  23. I have not had a hard time with anything except drinking the Protein shakes, I have not drank them since a few days after surgery. I am eating just about anything I want(no seeds, or nuts) I just finished up my fifth workout at the gym and have so much energy!!!
