Gallbladder- help!
Swampdoggie replied to jasminew's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been having a lot of nausea and gastro problems lately. I've been trying to eat "right" but I've also been eating no sugar pudding and it doesn't cause as much stomach turmoil. -

Hello everyone...my story!
Swampdoggie replied to gentle_breeze23's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Great job! I'm working to enjoy the journey too. -
I saw my surgeon today. Went in because I've been so nauseated - barfing -and had a crazy bellowing stomach for the last 2 weeks. Figured it was my lyme meds but was a little worried about a leak or obstruction or kidney trouble. Seems it's a little of both (lyme and bariatric). I've been losing about 2 lbs a week (averaged) and he wants me to slow down, to up the carbs. Wow, that is so hard to wrap my head around. But he said ill feel better and metabolize what I'm eating better. Well, while I thought this sounded like fun for a little minute he wants me to up the carbs with gatorade, blech. Apparently this is to have better control over the amount and to not get into bad carb habits. I feel like I have this little window and now I'm going to boof it up, and with what? Gatorade. Ugh. And start another new med at $150 for 30 days (well, go back on one I'd stopped). I hate my insurance. On the plus side we did an upper GI and everything looked good so no leak or block. Still have to have gallbladder function testing.

@@Veronica Page Iive and learn right. I had barbecue yesterday. No bread, no slaw, just the meat in sauce. Man, was so good. And almost no activity. 2 lbs up today. Gonna be a very low carb day for me today and lots of liquids.

Do you allow yourself any healthy splurges?

I mkae yonanas once in a while but only eat a little bit. I have my ginger slices. And, once in a real blue moon, I have a slice of CPK tostada pizza. Its very thin crust and one piece only. -
Hope my little bit helps. It's a devastating situation.

@@wannaBthinsoon i have days of constant hunger (today) and days of meh, nothing sounds great (last 2 days), for example. Today I ate as much as the last 2 days combined. Anyway, I think when you get on real foods it will be better. -
Ostrim, soft jerky, cheese sticks, macadamia nuts ( I know they are high fat, I count the little #$%&%s), pistachios, peanut butter packets. And ginger slices cause sometimes I get really nauseated.

I told myself so long as they didn't expect me to cook those goodies early on I'd be ok. Either they can eat what I'm eating or they can make/get it themselves. It was tough in the early days but it has gotten better for me; I think it will be easier for you too when you have more options again. Most of the time I'm perfectly happy eating this better way. Now I even cook them stuff they love that I don't eat. Good luck!

I am visiting my hometown next week. My brother and his sweetheart of a 2nd wife have been married a year but their cake was so good they ate it all instead of saving the top for their anniversary (and they are both buff!) . So they asked me to bring one out to them (they used to live here) to celebrate. I am not tempted by too many sweets, but wedding cake is a different story. Went to pick it up this morning and the bakers place smelled so dang good!! Man! I hope that thing makes it to Illinois! -

Bad news and decision
Swampdoggie replied to spiritfilled's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first time I went thru the wls (band) consults, I had a terrible infection in my foot that required 3 surgeries of its own. You could see the bones and tendons. I didn't have wls until it had healed but it took long enough that by th e time it was, I was thru with all the prep and ready to go. This time I had a picc line in (6 mo of IV) and they did the surgery anyway. I just had to wait until I was well enough. In both cases, the wls was very easy (comparatively). So yes I agree; keep going thru the consults. -

I love the food network but I can't watch it anymore. The last show I watched was the 10 best breakfasts in the U.S. and I thought I would combust with desire for a peach Dutch baby. -
