Apologies. Not returning. Mea Culpa. Breast beaten.
Swampdoggie replied to KateP's topic in Rants & Raves
I read the mud flaps exchange to my husband too and we both laughed hard enough to bring the teenage son in to find out what was going on. Of course we couldn't explain so that made us laugh all the harder. -

Slightly off topic, my son used to sing "I like big butts and a kangaroooooo!" And well, who doesn't, really?

I would have to disagree that this website is all about women, but I agree that women post a LOT more. I'm guessing there are a lot more female members than there are male (I wonder what the surgery statistics are), but I think a forum website like this is what people make of it. So, question, do you think more men would join and/or that men would post more if they felt they had true mancave where they could scratch things that itch in private? I do make an effort to stay out of the men's room (at least to respond but I gotta say I completely relish some of the discussions) but I agree it helps when there's something the title that lets us know when the poster is looking for male responses. I enjoy seeing the male perspective and sense of humor. -
Did anyone loose weight on their pre-op diet
Swampdoggie replied to jabez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did 2 weeks of protein shakes plus 1 healthy meal per day and then 2 weeks of just protein shakes (I waited until I had my surgery date to start). I lost 23 pounds. It was a nice jump start, particularly since I gained in the hospital from all the fluids and then hit the 3 week stall. Since then have been at about 10 lbs per mo average. had hoped for more but its all good. All good. -

My NUT said no gummies because those vitamins are not as high quality and the gummies have a lot of carbs for what you get. Boo. But I changed over to the nasty bariatric advantage chewables and I haven't died yet but I do screw up my face every day when I chew them.

Buena suerte!

5 weeks post op. Diarrhea since surgery. HELP!
Swampdoggie replied to Kristy Haugen Oliver's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Kristy Haugen Oliver I was ok for a while (I'm 4 months out) but over the last month have had a lot of nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. I wasn't sure it it was the antibiotics I'm on for my lyme or the surgery or what. My gall bladder function was tested and it is just over the wrong side of the line so we're trying to decide what to do. Did you have your gall bladder out with your bariatric surgery or was it something else that precipitated removal? So has this been the case for you since surgery or or was there a time when you didn't have the gastro problems? Has your dr tested to see if there's a leak or an obstruction? Where in Europe are you going? I am totally jelly. -
Weight loss rate after sleeve
Swampdoggie replied to Skywalker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm with you guys. Slow and steady. I was 4 months out this week and have lost 40 pounds since the day of surgery. I gained a bit this week struggling with new meds that nauseate the hell out of me and ate of lot of Cereal and pudding until I felt better. Now I do and need to get back in the game, but I'm not beating myself up over it. -
BE HONEST SLEEVERS, did anyone think okay they are going to cut half of my stomach off and the weight will just fall off?
Swampdoggie replied to tamelntre's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was revised to sleeve from a band so I thought i had no illusiions about the effort it would take to lose. That said, I am surprised by how little it takes to go wrong. More than 50 carbs and I gain. More than 1000 calories and I gain. That has been a surprise. (It shouldnt have been i know): However I continue to learn and adjust and am very pleased with how the sleeve and I are turning out. Its not fast, but its going along. -

What is one guilty pleasure you cannot give up
Swampdoggie replied to AussieSam's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I do believe that the scale can sense guilt. So either I try not to do things that make me feel guilty or I work not to feel guilty about the things I do, I haven't decided which yet. Maybe I should throw out that blasted guilt sensing scale. -
Feeling a Bit.....well....Unwelcome?
Swampdoggie replied to livvsmum's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm so grateful there are old-bies who have remained active and can help us new-bies as we walk this uncharted territory. I understand wanting a vets or maintenance forum for the struggles unique to maintenance and I look forward to the time I can offer some sage advice from a been there perspective, but I really appreciate that so many of the vets are willing to mentor us. You guys are inspirational. Ignore the snarks. Your experience matter to me. (My brother always says, I may not be much, but I'm all I think about.) -

A single slice of California Pizza Kitchen's Tostada Pizza on crispy thin crust with extra salsa. But when I do this I know I'll see a slow down in loss and will be more hungry the next day so its pretty infrequent. -
