I had sx on the 15th and I am going great! After one week, I was doing pretty much anything I wanted. I have been going to gym for one week now and walking and doing elliptical. I feel great! I think I've lost 15 pounds since sx. Go see the nut on Tuesday. Back to work this week, too. Still struggling with all the fluids.

5 days Post op
knoxvegas replied to blessedandreborn@50's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
5 days post op and I can't stand the thought of another protein shake! I am hungry for something to eat. Boiled egg would be fabulous. I wake up with a headache daily. However, the headaches are getting better. -
Looking for Pre/ post buddies - Surgery date: 18/12/15

I had surgery on 12/15 and I'm anxious for the next week to pass by, so I can hopefully get off this liquid diet. I really didn't have any pain or nausea, but I'm very tired. I had a little gas pain day 1, but not bad. This morning was the first time that I experienced any nausea and it was bc I tried to take my powdered vitamins with 2 oz of water. That was a bad move! I threw up and felt pretty bad for about an hour. Besides that, not one episode of nausea. No pain meds since leaving hospital. I do feel hungry and wish I could eat an egg, beans, something. The sweetness of the shakes I now find disgusting. The protein soups have helped, but I'm sick of liquids. I haven't been able to get my protein in the past 2 days. I sleep a lot!! -
I liked the shakes before surgery just fine! It's the sweet flavor that my taste buds are now not fond of. It's really weird. Popsicles don't even taste the same to me. I'm going to add decaf coffee to my shake in morning and give that a try. I am def a fan of the soups.

2 days post-op and I'm feeling really blah! Protein shakes are disgusting. I got all my protein in today, but the sweet taste is very gross. I have been very tired today. Also, had some serious diarrhea this evening. I really like the protein Soups. I am def not as excited today as I was yesterday. the 15 minute timer is taxing. I never really had any pain and never any nausea. Just down today. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.

HW 223 SW 213 (day of surgery) I had the gastric sleeve yesterday and I was released from the hospital today. I was in patient less than 24 hours. Had surgery at approximately 2:30 PM and was released today at noon. My surgery lasted for approximately 20 minutes and the surgeon reported that he wished all his surgeries were as easy as mine. I was so excited to get this over with. My journey started Spring 2015. I jumped through all the hoops with the 6 months supervised diet, psych eval, sleep studies, support groups, nutrition class... and bam the day was finally here. I arrived in PACU after surgery and my only complaint was dry mouth. I had very little pain. Got to my room and after about an hour the gas pain kicked in. It was very tolerable! I was able to begin walking immediately. Throughout the evening/night I had 1.5 mg of dilaudid and 3 percocets, with my last dose being 7:00 AM this morning. I was discharged and able to walk all the way out of the hospital to the parking lot without any difficulties. I arrived home and it was nice to take a long nap in my own bed. Oh, also, I didn't experience any nausea! NONE! Now.... the clock battle! Every 15 mins you must drink! This is tiring, but this too shall pass. In the hospital this morning they gave me some protein tomato soup, which can be purchased at New Life Bariatrics. I really enjoyed the soup! It was a good break from the protein shakes. I have looked at GNC and the Vitamin Shoppe for protein soups, but couldn't find them, so I went ahead and ordered 2 boxes this evening. I started with 1 oz every 15 mins, but once I passed gas, could increase to 2 oz. However, you can only have the protein once per hour. All the other 15 mins, I have been drinking G2. I keep saying this too shall pass! 4 weeks! I am hoping that when I go to 2 week follow-up that I an progress onto phase 2. We shall see! Also, popsicles were a life saver last night after surgery. My throat was so dry! My journey has officially began and I am excited for the changes!

Day 2 Today has been a little trying. I have been so tired all day. The sweet shakes are disgusting. I have ordered some soup and I sure hope it arrives tomorrow. Even the sweet popsicles taste disgusting to me. I haven't had any pain or nausea, but I sure haven't felt good today. I know my body is trying to recover from the surgery. I had diarrhea this evening. First BM since surgery. I guess I will skip the metamucil in the AM. Hoping for a better day tomorrow.

My pre-op appointment was long, with chest x-ray, labs, ekg, and meeting with nurse practitioner. It all seemed routine. I did get a bit of a lecture from NP b/c I had gained 16 pounds since my original consultation 6 months prior.

My surgery went great! Pain is completely tolerable! Not bad at all. Walking halls easy! I will be going home at noon today. Popsicles have been my friend.

Hello everyone! I'm 39 years old and married for 18 years. I have two children, 13 and 8. I have been on every diet known to man over the past 20 years. Cookie diet, Jenny Craig, WW, diet pills, etc. You name it and I'm sure I've tried it! Tons of money down the drain. I have lost weight over the years, but could NEVER keep it off. So, I am very hopeful that this surgery will be perfect for me. Surgery scheduled for December 15. I'm 5'4" and 220lbs. I work in Oncology and reside in Knoxville, TN. My goal is to be fabulous at 40! ????

Actually my policy doesn't read 180 days. It states a minimum of 6 months, which equals 180 days. Either way it means the same thing. Still requires 7 visits on supervised diet.
-
My policy reads minimum of 6 months on the supervised diets. So going to PCP every 30 days for 6 months does not equal 180 days. First weigh-in May 25th and 6th one October 26th equals 154 days, which would require a 7th weigh-in. I would just double check with your insurance.
-
I had 7 weigh-ins.

What does your insurance require? If you meet the criteria, you will get approved.

Surgery scheduled for December 29th! I think the liquid diet length depends on your BMI and how much you weigh. I don't plan on doing a 4 week liquid diet. If you have a fatty liver, you need to decrease it... Purpose of the 4 weeks of liquids.
-
My thoughts exactly! I had originally scheduled for the 15th, but I had a change of plans...Happy New Year to me! ????
