Last night I made baked ricotta and I thought it was the most delicious thing I have ever tasted in my life.

    Surgery and Work

I got sleeved on Thursday, flew back from Mexico on Sunday and was at work Monday morning at 8:30. The first week was tiring, but I just sit at a desk so it was totally doable. I missed literally two days of work.

I had my surgery Thursday and today is Sunday and am flying home. I'm glad to report that I feel great and am not worried about the flights at all. The first couple days were terrible. I had very bad pain in my shoulder and chest when I awoke. The nurses kept telling me that it was normal, but I had read enough of these posts that I knew it was not normal to be in so much pain. On Friday I was crying from the pain, then in agony from the nausea when they gave me more pain medicine. Finally, the doctor surmised that mydrain was pinching a nerve and agreed to remove my drain a day early. Wow! It was like night and day. Since then, I have had a pretty easy time. Drinking is fine, I have had no nausea or pain, and I feel like this is already a great decision. So happy to be going home and feeling great! Mary

Am flying out this afternoon to San Diego. I am so nervous that I may actually throw up. I was not anywhere this nervous on my wedding day.

Mine is just very low carb until the last three days, which are liquid only. I feel lucky about that. Low carb is a breeze by comparison.
  6. I have read that a few people have recommended wearing some sort of binder after surgery. Can any of you veterans speak to whether that is helpful and whether someone should bring one with them? And also, any recommendations as to kind? Thanks!
  7. I'm scheduled to fly to Mexico next Wednesday and have the surgery on Thursday. I am worried about everything! My current worry is about the pre op testing. I'm worried that, since the testing has not been done in advance, I will get to Mexico, have the testing, and have them tell me there is some reason I cannot get the surgery done. I have no reason in particular to think this will happen, but I'm worried that I'm about to spend a bunch of money, fly to Mexico, get my hopes up and then it won't happen. Does anyone know people who have been turned down once they arrived? I did fill out my health questionnaire but have not had blood work, etc. done. I am a worrier and I want this so much. Please advise!
  8. Why couldn't she get the surgery?
  9. I am scheduled to be sleeved July 9 in Mexico. Three weeks later I am scheduled to go on a two week vacation with my husband and kids to the Dominican republic. I considered canceling but I think it is the kind of vacation where I can sleep all day or just sit on a beach chair if I feel bad, or do more if I feel up to it, and the kids are excited about going. I'm planning to bring lots of Protein shakes. Am I crazy? What should I think about that I have not considered? Am very nervous about the surgery. I considered doing surgery after the vacation, but I'd have to put it off a few months because of work commitments. I am so ready to do this! Advice welcome.
  10. Am scheduled July 9 with Dr. Altamirano in Tijuana. Is anyone else going in that timeframe? Mary
