@@Veronica Page .. yes, must admit to not being someone who stays at home for long. I slipped 3 disc's in my neck in 2012 and only had 3 days off. Looking back I was silly and wouldn't be rushing back again. At least its lighter days/nights and my youngest son who's 17 will be at home (once school finishes). Thanks for the good luck ! Kate

@@dhrguru that's great ! I bet you both had a smile on your face during the bike ride. How about getting him to set goals along the way for you and that way he will be supportive and keep you on track. Bike ride now: 1 month: a new outfit for you and a treat for him. 2 months: a hike 3 months: go swimming 4 months: and so on How old is he? Kate

@@chrisredjeep do you have your date yet ? Exciting times isn't it mixed with a bit of nerves no doubt. How are you feeling about everything? @@rosieuk : What company did you go with? How are you feeling after the op? Are you taking any Protein drinks yet and if so what brand? So many questions, so little time lol. I am with the Bariatric Group and they have sent loads of info and kept in touch by phone. It's made me feel less nervous and more confident in them and what they can provide post op. Please keep in touch, it would be fantastic if we could support each other especially with stuff you can buy in the UK. Kate (from a very hot south of France!!)

I have told the 4 friends I go to lunch with... plus my boss. I didn't want to really tell her but I have a very busy job and didn't want to have it done when it would affect the team. Everyone has been supportive even reading up about it so they have a clearer idea of how they can support me which is an amazing thing for them to do. They were all supportive when I lost 85lbs in 2013 and didn't judge when I put it all back on. I'm not telling anyone else. Kids won't be told nor extended family. Hubby is supporting me. I'm very lucky. Kate

@@lex8701 : Not too long now and I guess nerves will play a part. Just make this time fly by with preparing for afterwards. Make broth, clean the house, sort out all the laundry, meet with friends and family, go shopping for something really nice for yourself, do lots you might not be able to do for a while after the op. Mine is July 23rd and I have a ton of stuff to keep me busy once July 1st hits. In Alex's book it states you should take time to prepare, cover every eventuality, boring but needed anyway... @@Genevieve L Thompson : I am just glad to be on holiday for 16 days, as time seems to really drag. I have bought a couple of books and found this site recently but there does come a time when you just want to get it done! I start my pre op liquid diet on 2/07/2015. Bring it on!! Best wishes Kate

Hello, I'm Kate from south of England and I am due to have a gastric sleeve on the 23 July 2015. I am on holiday right now, so thought this would be a good time to read, read and read some more. I researched a few places which did sleeves and decided to go with the Bariatric Group and will be having my procedure in Poole, Dorset. I am married with 4 boys, aged 53 and have been overweight since I was 32 and my thyroid not only stopped working but my body ate it, thinking it was a foreign object. For the past 3+ years I have had a fight with the NHS for private prescriptions for Natural thyroid rather then synthetic stuff. My GP (ex I might add) was very annoyed I knew more than her and finally I managed to get Natural Thyroid. This has really helped and in 2013 I lost 85llbs but since Oct 2013 to now I have put it all back on. Lose weight, put back on, lose weight put back on has been the story of my 30's 40's and 50's and I need it to stop. Anyway just thought I would stop by and say hello, hopefully get to know you all and get support/offer support! Kate

Your post came right out of my mouth Chris... Having to get out of the car so hubby can park it in a 'normal sized space' - whatever that is! I just went to a wedding and declined photos although hubby is going to take loads just before I start the 2 weeks liver reduction.. I won't mind those :-)
