Aching knees and joints.
_Kate_ replied to Future skinny girl's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Might be easier calling the airport and asking what their procedure is. Also get to the airport early in case of hold ups getting through security but I am sure you will be fine. On a side note, I was travelling from Israel to Jordon once on holiday and there was an older guy who was taken off to hospital to be x-rayed because he had had a hip replaced and he kept setting the alarms off. We had to wait 4 hours !! Oh how we laughed Good luck for the journey. Please let us know what happens. Kate -

Brush it off as insensitive ignorance and remember how well you have done. Amazingly well Don't ever be sorry about venting!! Kate -
My dietitian has said week 4 for me, not before. Everyone seems to be told a different thing and I guess it’s also to do with the person and what they can accept at that stage too. eggs.... mmmmmmm ( sorry on pre-op liquid diet lol) Kate

I can't offer advice as I am not post op yet but just wanted to wish you well and I hope you feel better soon. ~ gentle hugs ~ Kate

@@littlebuddy213 how much fluids are you managing to get in today? I have bought protein water too (coconut) and its lovely. Hope I still like it after the op lol. It's a totally different taste to the shakes, which I also think are good. Kate @@justajackie How are you doing today? How was the op and are you home yet? Kate -

Natural Fullness vs. Learned Fullness
_Kate_ replied to BaileyBariatrics's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I was often told to finish my plate, at home and especially at school. I can vividly remember school puddings, the custard would have skin on it and if you were the unlucky one you'd get it. I was told to sit there once, missing out on playtime until I had finished all the custard. I gagged and gagged until I was sick but still had to finish it. I will never ever forget that bully of a woman, the school cook. I detested her. I know my portions have always been on the large side and would think it was okay, if it was a healthy meal. However I was still living as that kid at the school dinner table. Quite often my hubby would finish his meal as he was full but I couldn't stand seeing left over food, so I would finish his too. I know I have far to go and only on the first step of my journey. I need to 'unlearn' the learnt. I will do it though!! Kate -
Those MRI machines are tiny!! Well done for getting to the point where you felt okay going into/out of one I had an MRI a year or so ago and burnt my elbows coming out. I could have cried. Hugs Kate

I have been told by my 'team' not to drink carbonated fluids at all. I think I will stick to it as so many people state it gave them problems, however some say it didn't at all. If you are really desperate ry a small sip and see how you manage it Kate

Welcome to the forums Sophie and glad to hear you are feeling amazing. Keep up the good work !! Kate

The body is such a wonderful tease... Drink as much Water as you can, get Protein down and exercise more each week ... AND put the scales away for a bit. Try seeing how you are doing by how clothes fit rather than the scales say. I am sure you'd be surprised. Be kind to yourself too Kate

Depressed because of weight gain
_Kate_ replied to Tess White's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Do what the others here have suggested for a few weeks THEN get the scales out and weigh yourself. I know it's hard not to hop on and off the scales, but this may be one of the times that you need to. You have been through a huge operation and your body needs time to heal and 'sort itself out'. Drink, eat protein and exercise. Oh and well done !!! Hugs Kate -

I think I will need a new wardrobe of clothes, every 30 llbs and will take a trip down to the recycling with the old stuff. Cathartic cleansing - I'm looking forward to it Hugs Kate -
July 13 almost time !
_Kate_ replied to Daisy0818's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Congratulations ..... not too long now and it's great that you are excited about it all !! It's good to keep busy too and will make the time fly. I will be doing the same thing in 2 weeks. Best wishes for a straightforward op and quick recovery Hugs Kate -
@@Nyelaah I am on my first day too and having 3 shakes a day. Having fasted for 40 days before, I know it gets easier after a few days so its not forever. Like the others said, drink lots of Water and keep busy. Spend time here and read the sucess stories and involve yourself a lot. Buy some bariatric books and read, read, read. I have a couple of Alex Brecher's books and Weight Loss Surgery Cookbook for Dummies. I found each book really helpful and informative. Best of Luck!! Kate
