    Alcoholic beverages

I would say once in a while, once maintaining would be okay (for me). Each to their own though, some give it up and some continue and have issues with it and stop and some continue and don't have issues. I love champagne but won't even try it ever again because of the bubbles. I will try a small glass of red wine on special occasions but if it causes one second of issues it will stop. I was advised by my NUT and team to give it up for good, as its using up space in the pouch and not of any nutritional value. If you do a search for this topic there are lots of posts about alcohol/carbonated drinks after surgery. Hugs Kate

    Medicine

As the others stated, it will be your regular Doctor. Just as a side note, have you thought of other things to help you relax rather than medication. Resilience training, yoga, mindful meditation, cognitive behaviour therapy? Is the stress general or specific? Would therapy help? Really hope you feel better soon! Kate

    Protein shakes

I ended up hating the ready to drink ones and love the powdered ones you make yourself. I also prefer making them with Water although in the past 2 days seeing as I am just post op, I have been making them with milk. I think its trial and error and know in the states you can get samples before buying larger amounts. Maybe that's something to think about before spending too much. Good luck in your search and hope you find something you like soon Kate
  6. I found it difficult getting Water down in the first 3 days so had half and half apple juice/water and drank that ALL day and night I know we are supposed to keep fruit juice down to 4/5 oz a day but whatever works especially in the early days. Try a few different things. Your pouch will accept what it can, then get as much Fluid in as you can and then some more. I hope you feel better soon!! Kate

    new to sleeve

Hello Bill, welcome to the forums. You have started well by joining here. There is so much information here from people who have gone through it but I would also suggest reading as many books, websites and literature as you can. I'm sure certain things will be different depending where you are reading but it will give you a basis of what to expect and how to prepare. I think preparation is so important to good recovery and starting with changing little things now will really impact when the time comes. Best wishes and hope to see you around a lot! Kate

    Accountability

How was London? I hope you managed to get the sun rather than the torrential rain we have had recently As for the gain, you are right back on track and you will get there!! Hugs Kate
  12. Carin, I really respect your answer to the comments left here. If I had a good amount of spare money to spend on clothes, shoes, handbags and accessories I'd do it!! After being married to the meanest man for 25 years (I used to have to hide money for holidays so the kids could have ice cream) I am now married to a man who encourages me to spend and I'm not ashamed of that fact. We both work hard, the 3 older kids are independent and the last one is 17 now and off to university next year so now its MY time to spend on me. In some area's of our lives we live very cheaply. However, I might treat myself to a few pieces of timeless classics which will work well in he long term. Kate
  13. Will be thinking about you @@The Candidate and send good positive vibes to you. 60oz of fluids a day, mainly Water but have added some syntax nector to get some Protein in too. I am very lucky getting the fluids in but it does hurt after a while so I have had to learn to pace myself. Sip Sip Sip .... lol Hugs for tomrorow. xxxx

    Fluids fluids fluids

I am 5 days post op and getting plenty of fluids and Protein down so I feel very lucky. I know it's very difficult for many people. It's hard work though remembering to constantly sip sip sip when you are at home and doing other stuff. Hubby made home made tomato soup for me and its delicious and doesn't have any milk in it. I have seen it on many 'allowed' liquid stage food lists. Hes making a batch of chicken soup tonight. Yum Hope it gets easier for those struggling! Hugs Kate

Surgery is over and working hard

Congratulations @kxylxmxrie. My arms are black and blue from the IV sites which kept getting blocked so my sincere sympathy. I must admit it was great getting them out so if you can have meds orally then it might be that they take it out soon. You are doing really well getting the walking in. Speedy recovery!! ~ Gentle Hugs ~ Kate
  20. Keep moving, waking, sipping, walking, moving, sipping, walking and eventually it will come out one way or the other. I found after sips of Water, I would either burp or pass wind but only if I was sipping in between walking without sitting down. It's a case of finding out what works for you, so try everything. I am at day 5 and at home but still bloated. In the big scheme of things it's not here for long. Hugs and Congratulations!! Kate
