    NHS or Self Funded

@@pippinleicester Nice to meet you too! We are such a welcoming bunch us UK ladies and gents . My surgeon said lots of people are having WLS in the UK and increasing a lot year by year. Its a great site here but nothing beats talking to people who know whats what in the UK. It's nice to meet someone who's a few months out!! @@tia92 I think everywhere is different and it might be best to ask the team you are working with. They will know the time frame for their own surgeons either NHS or private, Waiting can be the annoying thing can't it however it will give you the time to really prepare yourself. I wish you all the best and a speedy surgery Kate

    Surgery time 8pm

Only one before me and it wasn't WLS but a gall bladder removal. He had clinic all morning so was only in the theater from after 2pm. He was lovely, but he looked about 15 lol. I guess that's just me getting older. I was the only bariatric patient on the ward, they had five rooms and I saw so many surgeons wandering round I think every patient was having something different. I went private in the UK. I'm sure you will be fine but if you are really worried discuss it with them
  4. Much better Thanks! Still have gas though so going for my first walk out of the house tomorrow in the hope the exercise helps move it The GasX strips were great in hospital but don't seem to do anything now. You will feel so much better once you are home, in your own bed. Don't overdo it!!

    Today is My DAY! YAY!

Best wishes for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery!! Kate
  9. I was told 2 1/2 years to 3 and then couldn't be guaranteed to have my place taken by someone more 'deserving'. I felt it was such a long time and due to my age and health decided to go private. Best wishes in your journey!
  10. I had my first BO post op on Tuesday this week and I swear to god after 45 minutes of straining, sweating and feeling faint, I thought I was going to pass out or throw up. I was so uncomfortable afterwards that I had to go to bed and take pain killers. Seven days out I'm drinking about 80oz of fluids a day, 60oz of which is Water. I am taking stool softeners morning and night. My DR has just said to up the water but I really don't think I can at this stage. I would appreciate any help!! APOLOGIES: Just realised that this isn't about pooping, more about stalls, weight loss and pooping. That will teach me for being on the phone, watching the telly and reading here!! Please ignore the post lol

    July sleevers?

@@doubledinfla Walk walk walk sip sip sip then walk walk walk....... then rest! For most it works. Did for me, I would walk up and down the ward 4 or 5 times, sip some water then burp lol. And repeat! Well done, congratulations to the start of a new you and speedy recovery
  14. Look at all he did for you during and after the surgery, which shows how much he loves and supports you. Hes maybe feeling a ton of conflicting feelings and said something on the spur of the moment. Haven't we all done that in our lives, then wished we hadn't because it was the emotion of the moment, rather than really how we felt. It's probably about himself rather than you. I can only read into what you have said in the OP and maybe I am wrong but he sounds like a very loving and supportive husband who may need a bit of support right now himself. I hope you get to talk soonest and work things out xxx P.S: Great weight loss!!
  15. They look really nice and sell in the UK too whohoooo. Well done with the NSV!!! Kate
  16. Really glad to hear that it all went swimmingly and you are recovering well. sleep as much as you want, in between walk walk walk, sip sip sip of course I am smiling like mad here, such a new start for you!! Congratulations !!!!
  17. I stayed 3 nights but could have stayed 4 or 5 if I wanted. I can't imagine being a day patient, you are all so very strong!!
  18. No one, not the Surgeon, NUT or my general practitioner (Dr) have given me a goal to meet. They have told me about all the statistics re the band, sleeve and bypass and how they can differ. I made my goal, I set it on my previous weight loss and how I felt then, how I wanted to feel now health wise. I started at 238 and my goal is 140. Kate
  19. I count them meticulously!!! I have zero carb protein powder I mix with almond milk with has 1/2 a carb in 8 oz. and for my meals I eat chicken, eggs, tuna, pork loin, ground chicken etc all that have very little to no carbs. The carbs I do get come from green veggies but I'm usually full from my 2-3 oz of lean meats so my carb intake is low. To which I contribute loosing 30lbs in 5 weeks Oh and there are a few carbs also in my fiber gummies also but I have to have my fiber lol @@alindsey What make of fiber gummies do you get and do you rate the sugar free ones?
  20. Congratulations, not long to go!! Well done as well for sticking to the pre op diet too. I thought I would be sick of Protein shakes but still like them lol. Hugs and best wishes for a safe op and speedy recovery. Kate

    I'm Alive!

I did miss you posting but can now understand why you haven't been !! Wow you have had a ton of stuff on your plate. I really do hope things calm down soon and you get some 'you' time. It's amazing that you took your sister and kid's in. I know family is family but still such a selfless thing to do. Be kind to yourself Hugs Kate

    Group meet up?

How about Nov/Dec/Jan then it will give us all time to have recovered... even if it was just the three of us it would be really nice I overdid it yesterday soodoo so have spent time in bed today in between walking up and down the stairs. I feel tons better. How are you two doing? I called you today Chris - hope all is well. Kate
  23. I only started back with Protein drinks on day 5/6 post op. Today I managed to drink 12 oz of milk and Protein powder, in 2 and a half hours for Breakfast, yesterday it was 4. I don't care it took that long, I am more concerned with getting the protein in. Along with yogurt at late lunch, I had and pea and ham Soup for dinner, my protein was 77 and for day 5 I am very happy with that. From the more knowledgeable here, am I doing anything wrong by not sticking to the 20 minute rule of eating at this stage? Kate
  24. I am soooooooooo happy for you, at long last it's here!!! I will be thinking about you and saying a little prayer today for one of the nicest people I have met here who deserves to be the woman she wants to be. You are really well prepared and know that this will be the best thing you have ever done in your life. Be kind to yourself, walk as much as you can, smile when you fart and burp and sip sip sip I'm sending a virtual Hug, wishing you a successful surgery and speedy recovery Kate xxx
  25. I'm 42DD and it would be amazing to be 36-38 D!!
