Post op diet Clueless
_Kate_ replied to Ourlifecomplete's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Geronimo... 900 calories in stage 2 liquids??? -
@@kirsteneva Did the team not give you guidelines on post op nutrition before having the surgery? Its really difficult to answer here as so many surgeons and NUT's seem to recommend different things and timescales. You should really contact your team and go by their guidelines. Sorry I can't help anymore ! Congratulations on your surgery and great weight loss

OMG Is this really happening?
_Kate_ replied to Jennifer Cunningham's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was really excited rather than scared and my only real fear was getting the cannula in without me passing out. I was concerned about drinking Water afterwards as I usually drink so much but apart from the first few days I have been able to drink lots (today I have had 72 oz and its only 7pm). I am nearly 6 weeks out. One thing I did which I found really helpful was to wear things which weren't fitted over my tummy, so nice nightdresses, summer beach dresses etc etc. It was week 3 before I really got dressed ! Make sure you walk, walk, walk and sip, sip, sip and rest in between. That will take most of your day up Jennifer, nerves are normal but you will do great. Wednesday will be the first day of the rest of your 'new' life. Please make sure you come back and let us know how you get on. Speedy recovery! -
Yes I was told that too. I guess he is over cautious but then so am I I just have a feeling I will be sat somewhere quite and away from my co workers for the rest of the week My poor hubby though... he might be moving out before then

Congratulations on the great weight loss but more than anything, coming back and apologising (even though I don't know anything about your 'flip') shows your true character. Thank you for making me smile today!

Tips for eating after WLS
_Kate_ replied to Dream4tc's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Make sure you note everything down and read over what you have had that day. Keep your cupboards stocked so things are to hand. Be part of a good support group. -
@@slvarltx I am still very tired so I can relate to what you said.

I do take HRT Patches, had to stop 8 weeks before surgery and I am due to start again on Thursday, hubby just mentioned maybe its that. Does anyone have experience of stoping before then restarting HRT after surgery?
-
I went for a long walk yesterday, about 4 hours - it rained though, typical bank holiday!

Thank you joatsaint.. Just how I am feeling. I dropped something last night, shouted like it was the end of the world then cried. I am cracking up.

I can relate to this! Most nights I am wrapped up in a thick blanket whlst everyone else is throwing the windows open and trying to switch the heating off without me noticing.

Hello @ What would you have asked or considered to the most important thing when considering a surgeon/clinic? Honestly? Gut feeling, previous records of surgery complications and if they listened to me! I paid £10,000 and I am very happy with the team I had. They are registered as an international centre of excellence for bariatric surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation, which assesses the safety and quality of bariatric centres across the world. I chose to do most of my ‘meetings’ by telephone as I had done a lot of research into having the sleeve before even picking the phone up and I couldn’t keep taking a day off work just to go for a chat. I appreciate it’s just more than a chat but I felt it was all done well by phone anyway. I called a few places before the one I chose and just liked the first lady I spoke to, Ali and the fact she had had the band and then the bypass, so she could speak from experience. Do you have any regrets about surgery? Who did you tell? Did you have any complications (this is a major worry for my husband)? I am 6 weeks out in 3 days and don’t have any regrets about the surgery. I had a bit of a wobble on day 3 when I was sat in my hospital room and for a split second thought, “OMG this is FOREVER”. Like I say, only a split second and then all was well lol. Initially I told a few friends, my boss and of course the hubster but as the date got nearer I told more work colleagues. I haven’t had any complications at all. None, Zip. Nada. Nothing. I think I had an amazing surgeon and couldn’t praise him enough. Plus I have worked hard myself and kept to the plan! I was constipated for a while but that’s just part of the package not a complication. I can understand why you want to do this. My Dad died when he was 50 and I am 54. My second son is getting married soon and they want to start a family straight away. My Dad never got to see his grandsons and it hit home that I want to be around for a long time to get to know my grandkids! It’s natural to have fear and anxiety around this decision. It’s a major change for the rest of your life but I seriously feel that if you do it for the right reasons, it’s the best thing you can do for not only yourself but your family. Really nice to meet you
