Waist Trainer Suggestions
_Kate_ replied to PrettyThick1's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Both a 'waste' of money. -
I broke my BP medication up and popped them in whatever I was having. I was only on clear liquids for 3 days, then full liquids for a week. I would take a teaspoon of the liquid, mix it up and down it went. Not always nice but doable. Thyroid med's are tiny so should be okay (disclaimer- I'm not a Dr but that was okay for me). I had sublingual thyroid medication so I was fine anyway. As for dissoluble vitamins. I didn't care if they were caked in sugar, as long as I got them down I was happy. I have never been addicted to the dissoluble vitamins but did take them for 6 months as the normal vitamins made me puke and I have a fear of being sick. After 6 months I moved to tablets and was fine.

Has WLS Helped your autoimmune and endocrine issues?
_Kate_ replied to norcaligirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have Hashimoto's and had psoriasis. Its the only time I have been able to lose weight and keep it off. Also the psoriasis has gone. Hurrah !! -
This is my own opinion and I am not a medically qualified person, please remember that I have never waited 30-60 minutes after having fluids to eat. I wait 5-10 minutes max and then eat but always wait a minimum of an hour after eating to have any more fluids. You will have a lot of differing views from here and you should go by what your team tell you to do. Thats just what I did and it has always worked well for me. However The pyloric valve at the bottom of your stomach stays open for liquids to pass through and so as long as there is no food blocking that passage, it runs right through. Food in your stomach gets digested, which turns it into liquids which signals the pyloric valve to open and let things pass through. If you drink something and there is food in your stomach, the pyloric valve could sense that liquid and allow the food to pass through earlier than it would have otherwise. So in short, drinking Water before eating is NOT going to stretch your sleeve, nor is it going to take any space up in your stomach, it just goes straight through. Drinking fluids with a meal or too early after a meal, should be avoided if you want to feel satisfied for any amount of time. If you do, Its not going to kill you, stretch the sleeve but its one of the things I feel make people sucessful with WLS. Just my 2 cents and each to their own. Kate

Big calves-anyone lose any calf weight/inches
_Kate_ replied to Kennalb's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I went from wide fit boots to an Xsmall. I nearly cried in the shop when they had to bring me the smallest calf size !! Congrats on the surgery 👌 -
I am really happy for you to have put your anorexia/binging issues to bed (I remember your posts from way back). Do you feel that having the sleeve then gastric bypass then a third op going back to having a sleeve has contributed to the issues? I don't see it as a diet at all. I got that word out of my mind soon after surgery. I just follow an eating plan not diet. Diet to me means denying yourself things... eating plan means putting the best foods into your body to get the best health and wellbeing out of it. I don't deny myself anything but I do CHOOSE to eat healthy. Kate

Humility and the aftermath. I am left with shame.

I think that's the reality for a lot of us... life gets in the way however, nice to see you back. -
How do I minimize scars after weight loss surgery?
_Kate_ replied to VSG4Mag's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I didn't do much with the small scars and 20 months later you don't really notice them. I used bio oil but was very hit and miss with it. Congratulations on the surgery 😊 -
Should I focus on calories?
_Kate_ replied to Carol94303's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does sound quite low if you are working out for an hour every day. What does your NUT say? -
IT'S OFFICIAL I'M TIRED OF CLEAR LIQUIDS
_Kate_ replied to ThickGirl5683's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats ! I found the puree stage orgasmic lol. Never in my who life have I enjoyed food so much. -
I would only use water and like you have, make it with more than suggested. Have you tried adding ice? I have stuck to the same protein drinks before surgery and still like them although they are sweet too. Congrats on the surgery and weight loss !!

How far out are you ?
-
I watch it and so glad I did. It prompted me to research it, go to the GP about it and then fund it myself.
-
I used to take a lot of painkillers before surgery due to migraines and also the fact I had four discs in my neck which had the habit of popping out and squeezing the hell out of my nerves. I never in a million years thought that paracetomol and tramadol alone would do anything but actually they do if taken together. I know this isn't what you asked but just thought I would mention it. It's worth trying anything !! 😉

Has anyone kept it a secret?
_Kate_ replied to VSG4Mag's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
No, I ended up telling work colleagues and friends. My husband and Mum knew and I told my kids. I feel it keeps me accountable and have had nothing but support. However, each to their own. -
I am really glad you two have each other for support !!

This was interesting to do. Thanks for sharing 😊 -
Many people here have stated that they have taken tablets soon after surgery. I started one week post op with my tablets. Can you split them if they are the larger kind of tablet and did you ask when you were prescribed them? Kate

I love Nsv's. Congrats.. keep up the good work 😊
-
The dreaded froths... urgh. I had them a few times early on after eating too quickly.
-
Btw: Congratulations on the surgery !! Hope you feel better soon. Kate

It really depends on what kind of work you do and your recovery rate. I took 4 weeks off but should have really stayed off for 6, which is when I started to feel better. I have heard people here say they had surgery on the Thursday and was back in work on the Monday which I can't even imagine. I was so exhausted even 6 weeks out. Kate
