Bucket list of things to do after weight loss...
_Kate_ replied to whisper43's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'd like to be able to bend over to pick something off the floor, without having to open my legs so my belly doesn't get in the way! Small things can sometimes mean the world -
Hit my 3rd goal today, of 4 stone lost ( 56lbs or 25.45kg). Next goal 60lbs ! Only 4 more lbs but makes me feel good when I reach goals lol

No pasta no rice and no bread
_Kate_ replied to vickylg's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
They won't be on my list of 'to have foods' no matter what. My NUT said I can have Pasta now (7weeks out). No thanks! -
5 weeks post opp still can't tolerate food.
_Kate_ replied to Annie Smith's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I really feel for you!! What has the Dr said about it? Hugs -
I did 18 days of just drinks and it was hard but once you are past day 5/6, it gets so much easier. I really do believe that doing the liver reduction diet prepares you for after surgery. It's not such a shock to your system as well as dealing with the aftermath of major surgery!! Keep your eye on the prize

I'm tired, this is hard, waaaaaaaaaa
_Kate_ replied to bellabloom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can't really offer any advice bella but just wanted to say try to not to get hooked up on liking how restricted you feel. You are probably feel tired because you aren't getting the nutriants from food, that you need to be getting. I really hope you and your Dr can resolve this so you can start feeling better and have more energy. Perhaps some therapy would help? Best of luck ~~Hugs~~ -
Struggling day 7 post op
_Kate_ replied to Lopez1628's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have noticed that at times the forums can be a place when bitchiness rules, snarkyness is cool for the gang and words can cut deep. I know for a fact that I have driven my family insane with my behaviour the past 2 weeks and feel as if I am now out 'on the other side' thank goodness, with apologies given. People sometimes post without thinking, or the words dont always convey what they really meant. That doesn't excuse rudeness but lets remember we all have **** days and feel like screaming at others here, even when we feel we are here to support Serioulsy when I read another topic along the lines of, "Help I ate a slice of pizza and I am only 3 days out, will I hurt my sleeve", I feel like phoning the person up, reaching down the line and slapping them. Do I say it, no. Do I think it, yes. Sometimes tough love can be a wake up call and at times, we all need that. -
This would be totally up to your surgeon. You need to let them know as soon as possible in case they want to change your operation date or at least put your mind at rest for it going ahead. What others have done has no reflection on what your surgeon wanted you to do. They are all different. Hope it all goes well !

@@James Marusek I will be making the chilli tomorrow! Thank you for sharing

@rustbel4ti Love it! lol My latest NSV was when I had to take in the band on my shoes (two holes smaller round my toe area and three holes smaller on the instep). These are shoes I wear every day for work and it was only when my hubby said I was wearing them like lose flip flops, that I tightened them. I was VERY shocked. How can you lose so much on your feet in the space of a few short weeks??!!

Date set! One excited Aussie!
_Kate_ replied to whisper43's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations on getting a date for surgery and best of luck on the Optifast diet!! -
I started with just BP tablets and Vitamin D tablets (which are tiny) at week 7. I am still on either chewable or liquids for the rest of the medication for the next few weeks. Some people here have been told 7 days. As with everything within Bariatric surgery, go with what your team say or how you feel yourself. For example, f they say 7 days and you aren't comfortable with that stick to other ways until you feel confident yourself.

You are very early on. work on your fluids and rest as much as you can or want. Don't worry too much about getting everything in, you'd be surprised how it will all fall into place, in time. Each day, it gets easier!! Hope you feel better soon

How often is it okay to eat?
_Kate_ replied to theother_onefoot's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you still having Protein drinks at this stage? I was very happy having them early on as its both protein and fluid! Double whammy -

@@Pinkgirl1234 "Listen this is not a marriage counseling site. You are on your own weight loss journey and that what we are here to support you on...all this other nonsense about the fact that your husband doesn't compliment you is a waste of time.I am right there with VSGAnn....don't care about the woes and approval of your significant other compared to his comments about your son.No one can walk in your shoes". If you don't care why bother commenting? Why waste your time commenting on how you’re not bothered? It would be laughable if it wasn't so pathetic. @@dhrguru If you want to talk about how you're weight loss has impacted on your relationship, or how it’s made you feel in your relationship feel free to do so. Some people just feel the need to add another tag on their snarky bitchy jacket, so their gang can preen and agree.

@@nomilktoday I have always loved the powder Protein mixed with Water and after surgery I had three a day, Soup with added protein, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt etc etc. Once I was on pureed foods, I still had the Protein drinks every day. Now I am on 2 a day, one for Breakfast and one before bed. That’s 50g in itself. Otherwise I eat, for lunch and for dinner plus 2 Snacks, a mix of the following (weights can vary depending on what I have had or plan to have the rest of the day): Roasted chicken breast 3oz: 24g protein 2 poached eggs: 15g protein 0% cottage cheese 100g: 10.2g protein Tuna Steak 2.5 oz.: 21g protein Fat free Greek yogurt 100g: 10.3g protein Coconut protein drink: 19g protein Salmon 3 oz.: 16g protein Homemade Beef meatballs 100 g.: (no bread) 33g protein Medium skinny latte: 11g protein Mini light baby bel: 5g protein Grilled pork chop 2oz.: 12g protein Syntrax nectar drinks: 23g protein King Prawns 100g: 15g protein I still use unflavoured protein mix as well and as soon as I can a more varied diet ill ditch it. At your stage post op I would drink Syntrax Nectar, the protein drinks and add unflavoured protein to Soups. Plus cottage cheese and farg greek yogurt. I added unflavoured protein to yogurt once and it was disgusting lol. Hope this helps and congratlations on the surgery

7weeks out and I'm not prepared...HELP
_Kate_ replied to Jenyp8409's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
http://www.bariatricfoodie.com/ http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.co.uk/ or Google bariatric cookery sites I have looked at and bookmarked some recipes but I feel I am best with the slow approach, so I am just adding a few things myself to foods I know go down well. I did go out last week and have Thai fishcakes (appitiser size and I could only eat 1 and a half but the tasty chili sauce kept my taste buds alive for a few days!) Then I had payback from the sodium:angry: I also bought Weight Loss Surgery Cookbook For Dummies pre surgery which is good and Both of Alex's books. I hope some who are further out can offer some good recipes Best of luck ! -

Not getting enough protein or liquids...
_Kate_ replied to Savannah Lee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just sip sip sip and do the best you can at day 3! It will come, believe me -
I have been obsessed by watching cookery programs when I have dieted before. Like you I am not sure why I did this and I also cooked a lot too, baked cakes, made huge meals, had people over for dinner etc. Haven't done it since having the sleeve but its early days!

3 Days post-op, dealing with the swelling and gas
_Kate_ replied to dragonfly78's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sorry to burst your bubble but I looked pregnant until about week three I have a feeling having to inject myself in the belly twice a day for over two weeks didn't help. For others I am sure it went down on day two! What I am saying is, there is no rule to it. You sound as if you are doing great! Congrats on the surgery and speedy recovery.
