I really enjoyed reading your post, thank you for sharing! Congratulations on the surgery and best wishes for a speedy recovery. It sounds as if you know what you are doing and doing it well. Keep posting so we know how you are getting on and be kind to yourself. :)

I had cottage cheese (low fat), Greek yogurt (Total Farg which is high in protein), fish and chicken, thicker Soups pureed, as well as keeping to the full liquids for a while and introducing a new food slowly. I tended to stick to what worked for me, for a number of days which worked well for me. I chose high Protein foods and made sure they were pureed well. Did you get meal plans from your bariatric team?

Hubby and I make soup at home, just basic ones like tomato, chicken and butternut squash and I freeze it in meal sized containers. Then if he fancies something I don't, I can have soup. I tend to have a lot of soup over the winter so its all okay by me

3 weeks post op - serious fatigue
_Kate_ replied to pokeyvenus's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was exhausted until week 6. Some people go back to work a few days after the op, it was enough for me to open my eyes and then I needed another nap lol. Just take it easy and listen to your body and you will be fine -
Wow.... Congratulations!! Great job

@Nomlktoday I visit National Trust Homes or English Heritage places most weekends and usually have the soup. Its really filling and makes me feel as if I have had a 'treat' as I have eaten out, rather than had soup at home. Its all about reprogramming your mind to what you want. Not easy BUT if I can do it, believe me anyone can! If you ever want to chat please feel free to message me.

I have continued to take chewables (I don't chew them, I just let them melt in my mouth). At 3 months I decided to try tablets and threw up each time I tried. Never again!!

Weight Gain 1 month post op
_Kate_ replied to Power Surge's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are lots of reasons why you might 'gain'. Have you pooped daily? Did you eat stuff with lots of sodium yesterday? Did you keep track of everything you ate? Put the scales away for a week, keep to the plan, drink lots of Water, keep to Protein first, low carbs and weigh yourself in a week. It's annoying when you gain but honestly as long as you are sticking to the plan, it will come off! Best wishes!! -
I think anyone who thinks, "I have only lost 10lbs this month" needs to carry that 10lbs round with them for a day. Certainly does put it in perspective!

Have been on cloud 9 and get a text from BFF that floored me
_Kate_ replied to nikkimapr's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There can be tons of anxiety around weight loss surgery for family and friends. If she is a real BFF and you to her, I am sure you will sort this out and she will be supportive and you with her issues. I admire the fact you faced this with her. It can't have been easy for either of you! -
How old is the sleeve surgery?
_Kate_ replied to monica36's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From Google : 'The history of the sleeve gastrectomy is more an evolution of prior procedures than a discrete timeline of development of a single procedure. The procedure has its roots in the earliest gastroplasty procedures and as an observation from prior anti-reflux procedures. It was Doug Hess, in Bowling Green, Ohio, who performed the first open sleeve gastrectomy in March of 1988 as part of what is now known as the duodenal switch procedure Lawrence L. Tretbar described weight loss associated with a fundoplication for reflux surgery. He described an extension of the fundoplication that created a tubular structure that achieves weight loss' Thanks Google!! -
It’s normal to be nervous before the surgery, I think we all go through the questioning in our heads. Is this right for me? Will it be painful? How am I going to cope with so little food in the first few months? And on and on. However we all get through it and I can honestly say that it’s been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. Believe in yourself and your inner strength, you CAN do it.

That's such a good suggestion!! We don't have insurance in England but at least if my GP suggested it, I would be legally able to have full sick pay whilst recovering!!

Post Op food and diet suggestions?
_Kate_ replied to MickeyMax95's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My pureed and mashed stages were very boring and I had some of the following. I tended to stick to meals that sat well in my sleeve and keep to those for a few days before introducing anything else. Very soft cooked scrambled egg with a little grated cheese on top. Soft plain omelette/poached egg/ soft-boiled egg Very finely minced or pureed chicken or turkey in gravy Mashed fish in a thin sauce, tuna, salmon or mackerel Chunky Soups Mashed cauliflower cheese in a low-fat cheese sauce Mashed casserole such as chicken stew of a thinnish consistency Soft Beans and peas, pureed or mashed Soft mashed avocado Small portions of home-cooked mashed/pureed main dishes like cottage pie or fish pie. But then your NUT might disagree. Youd be best getting back in touch with him/her and asking for more examples. S/he should point you in the right direction. As for the gym, when I joined at 8 weeks I explained about the surgery to them and they worked out a great exercise routine for me. I am about to change it up a notch but only after meeting the main trainer at the gym for an assessment to make sure I am okay for it. I guess we all have different areas we want to work on, apart from overall general health benefits and I would rather be safe than sorry Hope that helps! -
Sounds as if you are right on track!! Keep up the good work

Jacobs crackers.... oh how I miss you, with cheese, hummus, even jam. They have to be hidden. I did have them once and ate four. They went down so easy I knew then I'd have to stay away so if hubby buys them, he hides them lol. Out of sight, out of mind. Maybe in time I will be okay with them being in the house but I would rather not risk it right now.
