lessons learned at 9 months out

I so needed to read this now. Thank you for sharing ☺
  3. I grazed all Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I picked at everything and had one beer each day. I really enjoyed myself for the 2 days but now I'm back on track. It only becomes a biggie when i eat more for 2 weeks or 2 months however that's not going to happen ever again. Do I feel guilty? Hell no.. I enjoyed myself but understood I had to stop. You are doing great so forget it.... a new day is a new start and one I know you can do !!

    The day has arrived!

Good luck to everyone having the surgery today and speedy recovery ☺
  5. Its good that you are able to get that in after 12 days, many people really struggle and as Dub said you will certainly feel it once you start on food! When I had the sleeve, initially I felt that my surgeon hadn’t taken enough away. Had he actually done anything??? Then I had more solids and really knew he had. Congrats on the surgery and welcome to the losers bench
  6. 149.8 Bah Humbug Christmas Holiday !! Back on Track and will update next week. Have gone past my goal for the 31/12/2015 anyway but hope to report a loss next week!

    Greeting from a "Newbie"

Sara, best of luck for tomorrow and a speedy recovery! My hubby took nude pics of me front, side and back. Then when I lost 50lbs he took them again. When I hit 90lb loss he took more. I occasionally look at then to track my progress and to keep me focused. When I look at the first ones he took, I can hardly remember that woman. I'm 55 years young and only just doing stuff I should have done years ago! Its the very best thing I have ever done (apart from the hubby and the kids of course ) and it's given me a second chance at life!

    Energy

I was exhausted for about 5 weeks after surgery. I can't believe that some sleevers go straight back to work! I slept on and off all day (in between walking and drinking fluids) and then all night for at least the first 3 weeks. Everyone is different and some have energy soon after surgery but I didn't. Listen to your body. If it's telling you to sleep then sleep! Congratulations and speedy recovery

    Telling people at work

Initially I made a decision only to tell my husband, best friend and friends/work colleagues I go for lunch with during the week. My Manager knew too. I left it like that for weeks and that's how I wanted it to stay. However the week before the surgery date, some people at work had noticed that I was marked off sick for a month on our team calendar and asked if I was having issues with my neck (I have spinal stenosis) and decided have an op and I just told them the truth. For me, at that time, It felt quite liberating!! Also I didn't care what they thought, they don't live my life. I have had nothing but support and encouragement from them all and I work in a team of 64 people. Good luck with whatever you decide. REMEMBER this is about you, not them.
  13. First one is day of surgery (23/07/2015) Second is after surgery Third is Christmas day, 5 months out and 90.2llbs down. I have gone from a UK 24 (USA 20) to a UK 14 or some 12's (USA 10/8) . I'm absolutely over the moon with happiness !! BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, WORK HARD AND REAP THE REWARDS
  14. I have a 24oz bottle of cordial (mainly water with a touch of sugar free juice) whilst driving to work. Usually after an hour or so I have a 24oz protein latte and that often sees me through to lunch. With the latte it's a double bonus of fluid and 15g of protein.
  15. Thanks for sharing. It's so important to keep to the plan no matter how far you are out.

    Advice that makes you crazy.

Probably didn't make you laugh but it did make me.
  17. It's best to follow your surgeons advice but I was told that it can increase acid in the stomach and be a contributing factor to having a higher risk of getting an ulcer
  18. Thank you Babbs... soon onto maintenance which is the part I'm really dreading! Thanks tera and muzical
