  1. Turn it round and if he was having the surgery to be healthy would you support him? I bet you would. Also remember its 6 weeks and not forever. I know its hard as I was alone a long time before I married my second husband so I know exactly where you are coming from and no it isn't easy. Have you discussed your feelings with your partner? Does he know how you feel and what was his response?

    Soft food

I stuck to scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, greek high Protein yogurts as well as Protein drinks initially, in the soft food phase and introduced other foods slowly. That way I could log down all the protein, carbs etc I had that day rather than making a meal and not really knowing the nutritional value of what I was able to eat. It's boring I know but I added foods one at a time so I knew what was working for me and what wasn't. It was only when I was near goal that I relaxed about eating meals that I couldn't track as much. Congrats on the surgery
  3. *disclaimer* this post is not defending those who have pizza, fried chicken, bread, alcohol days and weeks post op! Haha! That made me chuckle !! lol

    Drinking after eating

If you do it all the time it will become such and ingrained habit that you won't really think about it anymore (apart from looking at the clock). I don't wait 30 minutes before eating anymore (im 15 months out) but I am really strict regarding drinking afterwards and usually wait 45 - 60 minutes. I want to feel full for longer. It's hard but its worth it in my opinion and yes... forever. Kate

    Back to work

I had four weeks off after the VSG and was sorry to go back to work so early.. it was exhausting. However some people go back very early and are fine. I am having skin removal surgery in January 2017 and I will take the whole 6 weeks off and more if needed. Congratulations and speedy recovery. Please take it easy

    Weight Gain

Are you due on your monthly? Are you constipated? I know I tend to gain when I don't go to the loo for a while. Are you logging everything you eat down? Are you drinking enough fluids (and the right ones) If you are sticking to your teams advice you are doing good. Put the scale away for a while and keep on track. Congrats re the surgery btw

    Chewing chewing chewing

I still chew a lot and I am 15 months out. Personal choice really as I seem to get more in if I do so and I am more comfortable after a meal. I also find that chewing a lot focuses my mind on what I am eating and why, Protein first blah blah. I seem to enjoy my food more when being mindful of it. I have on occasion wolfed food down, without chewing much and only ended up bringing it back up and feeling full after 2 bites. Funnily enough my husband recently had to be rushed to hospital as an emergency. He had been eating chicken and some got suck in his throat. It was a dreadful time and he had to go to theatre whilst they fished it all out. The consultant told my husband, "You have teeth, use them, chew chew chew". So now we both do lol.

I ordered Centrum Advantage chewable for the first few months and my bloods have always been prefect. I go them from a supermarket in the UK but i think they sell them on Amazon too. Calcium with D3, i get from the GP.

    Flu Season is Coming

I had the flu jab once, about 8 years ago and it was the only year I had 'real' flu. Never Ever Again
  17. Having done this for about 14 months now its just a habit. I don't even think about it anymore.. Tablets when I get up, 3 CalciumD3 throughout the day and tablets in the evening. It is daunting at the beginning as you have so much to remember. Just keep to your teams guidelines

I am 14 months out and still have the rumbles on occasion Never when Im alone or just with the family, just when lots of people are around lol
  22. LOL Babbs, I can see you stomping your feet on the floor with each word. Now I know why I left for a few months.
  23. You haven't named anyone, so we would never know who it was and I think its good that you are asking on behalf of a friend, especially here where lots of different advice around weight issues can be asked. I'd be very happy for you to be a friend and she should count herself lucky! Has her thyroid been checked at all?
