Last winter, when I was 6 months out was hell. I was SO cold all the time and I had always been the fat hot one, throwing open windows and complaining about it. A year later and not so much, although I still get cold, it doesn't seem as bad. We sleep in a bedroom that doesn't have the radiator switched on (ever) and we always have the window open a little. If I don't do this I have dreadful headaches the next day. Last winter I went to bed with socks on, sometimes wore a beanie and gloves to bed. Hubster thought it was hilarious! I have learnt to dress differently (more layers) and maybe thats helped too. Winter is coming (said in a Game of Thrones voice lol) Kate

18 days Post Op and not sure if things are normal or not... Help! :)
_Kate_ replied to Nicky6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If its so bad you should really see your GP to be medically checked. It might just be that your body isn't ready for soft foods yet but best to be checked out to stop yourself from worrying. I just wanted to say that I hope you feel better soon Kate -
It's advised not to drink fizzy drinks after surgery, however we are all told different things by different teams so go with what your surgeon tells you. If I go out, I tend to drink a slimline tonic Water, with lemon or lime in it. It looks like a gin and tonic. It usually lasts me all night and I sip it slowly. In between sips I might burp like a navvy though haha.

dizziness and shoulder/neck pain
_Kate_ replied to sk101's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to hear you feel bad... it's best to check in with your team about this. Call first thing Monday and if you feel worse tomorrow a trip to the ER might put your mind at rest. It's no good second guessing, you need to see or speak to the professionals. Really hope you feel better soon !! -

Anyone "loose weight" in the eye area?
_Kate_ replied to janedoe92's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I need upper and lower eyelid surgery... upper because there is too much fat and lower because there isn't enough/ Go figure -
The only regret I have, was thinking it was okay to have an odd glass of wine...otherwise I have stuck to everything from day one. I still weigh everything, still add it to myfitnesspal and still chew, chew, chew.

Congratulations... please make sure you come back and let us know how it went

Whoooot Whooot.... happy surgery day and speedy recovery
-
I struggled the first few days and then after a week I never had a problem with fluids. I mainly drink more than 64 oz a day which has made me very happy. as I used to drink a ton of Water before and was concerned about not being able to after the surgery. 64oz is a guideline. Congrats on the surgery

I think when you are maintaining and are a long way out on occassion it wouldn't hurt. Not often but on occassion. You are not going to die from eating and drinking at the same time but the food will just go straight through and that could cause problems with hunger. Make a decision not to do it until you are at or beyond your goal and then only rarely if its a real necessity or want. Have you had surgery and if so how far out are you?

My own choice but I stayed on some of the stages for longer than they said I could. My body told me when I was ready for the next stage. I am sure some have 'cheated' but whats the point in that? Seems a bit daft to have the surgery and then not make the best of the honeymoon period. Especially when you are healing. You will never get that first 6 weeks back and its a great time to change the mindset over food which will carry you onto long term sucess. Isn't that why we had the surgery in the first place?

3 Weeks Post Op - Are chips and Guacamole allowed?
_Kate_ replied to iam_yamii's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is much more polite, but not good advice. I'm firmly on the 'food is fuel, not treats' side of this WLS thing and you'll see me object nearly every time I come across a post, especially from someone new to this, talking about 'treating yourself' and advising people to 'try it and see if you can handle it' with known trigger foods like chips, sodas, candy, ice cream, etc. You don't stop eating your 'bad' foods until you're healed then start introducing them again...get over that mindset. To the OP, guacamole can be a good choice at 3 weeks if it's fairly smooth...I wouldn't eat big chunks of onion or jalapeno. I eat avocados with a spoon, right out of the skin, with a bit of balsamic vinegar. Very high-quality fat and a surprisingly high amount of fiber, too! Enjoy! Avocado and fiber, yeppers! I've never been able to eat avocados because of this problem. It is a crazy natural laxative for me. 30-60 minutes after eating and I'm glued to a toilet seat. Must remember this for next time i am constipated. -
Is it Hunger? 2 months post op
_Kate_ replied to Lolly1218's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you getting in your Protein? Are you getting in your Water? Are you eating enough? Do you feel hungry and crave 'good' foods or are you craving the crap stuff? If its rubbish it may be head hunger rather than real hunger. Might be good to have a chat with your NUT if you have one. Kate -
Can't help with the hair but just wanted to say congratulations on the surgery !

What are the weird and new foods you like post op?
_Kate_ replied to The New Kel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Plain greek yogurt.... Hated it before and now love it and have it at least once a day. I used to love tea... I drank buckets of it daily and hated it afterwards. Even the smell turned my stomach. I have had a couple of cups recently but its not the same. Now that IS weird seeing as I am Enlish and we are born with a cup of tea in hand lol -
When to start logging food?
_Kate_ replied to StephanieS0208's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It will always show you are not eating enough especially earlier on and it still does for me now (calorie wise). Im 15 months out and can't get 1500 (good) calories a day in. Congratulations on your surgery !!
