_Kate_ replied to shelby18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was exhausted until about week 5 then everything changed. You need to speak to your team and follow what they say. Best of luck -
Do you find that vomiting has become part of your post VSG life?
_Kate_ replied to FamilyGuyNJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been sick a few times due to not chewing enough, eating too fast or too much. I also learnt fried food doesn't agree with me no matter how small it is. I never saw it as being an issue with the sleeve, rather it was an issue with me. Kate -
It's normal and I still have it every now and again! Kate

Another step closer
_Kate_ replied to AGreenEyedWolf's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@AGreenEyedWolf ..... I kept thinking things like, will I ever enjoy eating again? (Yes) Will I ever be able to have lunch out with friends again? (Yes) Will I be so miserable I regret the surgery? (Maybe but its worth the risk) Am I a failure because I have to resort to surgery to lose weight? (no - you are a sucess for doing something about it!!) How will my husband and son (and my pets) handle a couple days without me while I'm hospitalized? (They have a couple of days in the house breaking all the rules and having man to man time lol) Am I going to have complications? (Focus on being positive) Is this all worth it? (Yes) Do I really want to give up sweets, Snacks, steaks, sodas, etc... FOREVER?? (It will be a shock how your taste buds change after surgery and some of those mentioned might not interest you anymore. I have a new appreciation for good food and can't stand some of the junk I used to eat. Physically just cant eat it. Im 17 months now and if I am at a birthday party, I will have maybe a bite or two of the cake rather than wanting to eat the whole cake !) You got this!! Let us know how everything goes and Congratulations Kate -
Scared or Doubting? I was too.

Scared & Anxious the Day Before Sleeve
_Kate_ replied to curlyinthecity's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@JamieLogical Classic and exactly how I feel. I never really understood people being afraid of anesthesia. It's the best! It's like magic! One moment you are pre-op, the next you are post-op. It's like time travel! @curlyinthecity Keep busy, see friends, chat on here, clean the house, go internet shopping and look at clothes/shoes imagining wearing them in a year! This has been the best thing I have ever done (apart from plastics a week ago) and my only regret is that I didnt have it years ago. Will be thniking of you tomorrow Kate -
Ahhh surgery is tomorrow!
_Kate_ replied to Stephanie840910's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations, best wishes for the surgery tomorrow and a speedy recovery!! Nerves are normal but you will be fine. Please let us know how it went and that you are okay Kate -
meat and fish yes, other foods such as cottage cheese, Soup, Protein puddings and yoghurts, I could eat more of. You can keep on top of your protein goals by sticking with the shakes until your surgery is a few more weeks out. Even now at 17 months I still have a couple of shakes a day, most days, especially if I am busy with work Congratulations on the surgery !! Kate

Crying on the bathroom floor
_Kate_ replied to White Sale's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stalls are normal, happen to most of us but the way we react to them depends with everything else that is going on in life. Your hormones are on a crusade to screw your head up. I know I had a dreadful few weeks and put everyone in the family through hell. How you feel now wont be the same as say, when you stall at 10 months. You have just had a massive operation so be kind to yourself, rant and rave and have a good old shout at the scales, then put them away for a month and for company, put the measuring tape with it. Keep on track, stick to your goals. Try on some clothes and pick something which is snug and hang it on show in your bedroom, look at it every night and know that you will be wearing it soon. Four weeks later try it on. You'd be surprised. Four weeks is a long time, especially as initially we are all focused on the weight coming off but if you can manage it, it will be amazing! I wish you the very best. Kate -
I haven't done the reset but I have heard from others that if you really stick to the basics of Protein first, 64oz Water (at least), no drinks with meals etc etc etc it really does give you back the restriction you may have felt in the very beginning. To reset or not is really up to you isn't it. What are you going to lose if you follow it... oh hang on. Your gain Best of luck with your decision and make sure you keep posting so we can support you. Kate

In less than 12 hours I will be in hospital having my skin surgery. I am having quite a bit done and will be in theatre for over 6 hours. Bags are packed, Dog has gone to stay with friends for a couple of weeks, house is clean from top to bottom. Hubster has a list of things to do during the week 1) Tell me I look great even when I don't lol 2) Repeat number 1. I am dreading it. Wish me luck!!

How are you doing after your skin surgery? I may be heading that way in the future and would love to read updates.

There sure are a lot of beaches on this board here
_Kate_ replied to LittleBill's topic in The Lounge
Ohhhhhh Holidays 2017... A cottage in England for a week in March - post skin surgery. Three weeks in Canada on a motorbike travelling around Alberta and BC in June and then Africa in November. Bring it on I say ! Now you have me daydreaming Bill !! -
I buy cream in bulk when they are on offer which keeps the price down. I am 18 months out and still need to apply cream every day, especially on my face and hands. I drink tons of water, did before surgery and do now and my skin is still dry. I ask my hubster to scratch my back when we get into bed every night as it gets so dry and itchy. . The neighbours must hear the moaning and purring and think we are bonking all the time lol. Try out small samples, get them free if you can and see what works for you. Good luck!!

CAN you eat vs SHOULD you eat
_Kate_ replied to ShelterDog64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was self pay in the uk and didnt go through all the hoops that others seem to have had to do. I did a lot of research before having the surgery. I thought I was prepared, I am intelligent and have a lot of common sense. My NUT was lovely but I was discuraged when she suggested Pasta at week three so never asked her for help again. I read books, came here and googled the hell out of the world wide web. I asked what I consider a silly question now but at the time I was flummoxed. I messaged someone who appeared to be really helpful on the boards. Never had an answer back. I am so glad I didnt ask on the forums. We go through a lot of crap pre op, then surgery, then getting through post op. Hormones and moods up and down, head games with hunger and the last thing you want is be spoken to like some child whos done something bad. I remember reading a post from someone whos team told him to eat tuna after a few days so even being here is confusing. No question is stupid. We need to encourage others to come here and ask anything even if it makes us eye roll. As I have said before, its not whats said its HOW its said. Just my 2 cents worth. -
I tried lots but Dulcolax was the only thing that worked for me. Drink as much as you can as that will really help too. Congrats on the surgery !!

Im having mine on Monday and funding it myself. @livvsmum I am dreading the recovery, however I will be staying in Hospital for a week so will have everyone to hand to assist me when needed. I have bought a lot of equipment and feel prepared for coming home. What did you find really helped you. To the OP: my tummy is disgusting, my arms/legs are slim and no issue. I guess it affects everyone in different way and age/fitness/how much you lose will depend on losts of things.

All sounds very promising Jessy. I am in hospital this time next week having plastics and getting quite anxious myself. Happy NEW year to you too

@@mamabear87 Wow you are lucky getting it through the NHS. I was told I would have to wait a mininum of 3 years and even then it would be possible it would change to a longer wait. So I went private. @@SalesGirl711 Thank you for sharing your story and best wishes for the future. Please keep posting on how you are doing. x Kate
