_Kate_ replied to anonmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I loved the Gasx strips, good for gas and sooooooooo lovely to freshen up your mouth too. Kate -

I stayed on the lowest dose for a year after surgery as I have a very stressful job and didnt want to stop it. I have just had plastics and being monitored in hospital showed that I didn't need them anymore. Bonus!

I had to have three shakes a day for 2 weeks (I actually did 18 days, starting early). At the time I thought it was very difficultbut it did prepare me for post op !! Good luck for tomorrow Kate -
What to bring to hospital?
_Kate_ replied to anonmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in England and went private, I could have stayed up to 7 nights if I didn't have any issues but wanted to go home sooner. Kate -
I agree with everyone else, that walking is the best thing you can do. Hope it eases soon Kate

How many sizes lost?
_Kate_ replied to triplethreat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told 10 - 14 llbs means you drop a dress size, but I think it really depends on your body structure and fat deposits etc. Congratulations on reaching GW !! Kate ps: I have lost 103 llbs and gone down 6 dress sizes. I have just had plastics and my weight might not change but my dress size may. Heres hoping -
Right now --- Plus coffee if you drink it. Get the headache's out of the way before surgery. Best of luck Kate

What to bring to hospital?
_Kate_ replied to anonmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It really depends on how long you are staying in for but the things I took and used were: Change of clothes for going home (baggy dress as I couldnt stand anything round my tummy) Toiletries/hair brush GasX strips Lip balm (dont use Vasaline if you are on oxygen after the surgery!!) Mobile and charger Ipad/kindle and charger Some magazines 3 nightdresses (I stayed in 5 nights) For the drive home, my husband brought a pillow so I could put the seat belt round it. -
3 weeks post-Op ... before and after
_Kate_ replied to pharmD_vsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you don't like/believe/insert anything here... just ignore. If you are not liked/believed/insert anything here.... just ignore. Now All PLay Nice. Kate -
Some people say the daftest things but probably don't say it in malace. Just ignore them and know that in a short time you will have the support and guidance of your sister and thats all that matters. I had one colleague say, "Can't you just diet" which I brushed off by thinking she was just concerned for me and the surgery I was having. Thinking about it from her point of view stopped me being angry with her and since surgery she has been a great deal of support. Best Wishes. Kate

_Kate_ replied to Belladonnis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cottage cheese, greek high Protein yoghurts, pureed chicken with gravey, tuna blended, poached eggs, scrambled eggs, thicker Soups, protein puddings, some fruits. I tended to try something for a few days before introducing something new. Kate -
My nerves are going crazy.
_Kate_ replied to Krisbell's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know its easier said than done but can you try some relaxation/breathing exercises which can help to calm you. Its surprising how much this can help with anxiety and stress. You can do them almost anywhere and no one will know you are doing them. If you google it you will have a lot of information on how to do this. Best wishes for the meeting with the surgeon and keep in touch to let us know how you get on Kate -
Whooot Whooot .. Congratulations! I have saved a seat for you on the losers bench Speedy recovery! Kate

Does taking Biotin before surgery reduce hair loss?
_Kate_ replied to char3672's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldnt say so. I used hair thickening shampoo and conditioner and that worked a treat. Doesn't stop the hair loss but at least I could make it look half decent. Kate -
Every day gets a little better and once you hit the puree stage you will feel in seventh heaven lol Congratulations on the surgery and speedy recovery. Kate

I had the same. Its the incision where the stomach is removed. If it carries on being painful it might be good to call your team and let them know so that they can put your mind at rest. Congratulations on the surgery and best wishes for a speedy recovery. Kate

Did your weight loss goal change?
_Kate_ replied to AB2B's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The goal set by my surgeon was 160. My personal goal was always 140. I have passed both goals but havent weighed myself for the past two weeks due to having skin surgery. Even though im very swollen my clothes are looser which seems odd lol. I will give it another 2 or 3 weeks before jumping back on the scale!!
