    How Dod Your Marriage Improve?

Just as your hubby is so is mine. I used to really struggle walking, especially up hills and along the coastline but now I am usually ahead of him. One disadvantage is that I can now continually chat (I was always too out of breath before) as we walk along lol (He jokes I make his ears bleed and that I just like 'filling' silence). We start yoga in the summer and then in September we are going to samba classes. I would have never have done that before. We have just booked 4 week holiday in August in Canada, travelling around, ON A MOTORBIKE! Imagine the conversaion: Me: Please can I have bariatric surgery and then 18 months after extensive plastic surgery? Him: Whatever makes you happy love but would you do something for me ? Me: Sure, anything. Him: Lets go on a bike ride across Canada Me: Of course, im fine with that (I will be able to get out of it, easy peasy) :o :o :o :o Me last week: Ermm, you werent serious were you (I hate bikes) Him: Lets book the flights and rental bike today Me Yayyyy (sob) I love my hubster very much and our relationship is the same now as it was before.

I am sure they will be able to give you medical advice pertaining to his specific type of gout as gout can affect people in so many different ways. I know its very painful so best wishes for a speedy recovery. Kate

    Holy Carbs Batman!

To keep my carbs low (which works for me) I tend to have fish for one meal and meat for another meal each day. I do carb cycling so can have a blow out when I am on a higher carbs day whoot whoot I like living life on the edge lol Kate

    Holy Carbs Batman!

You cant delete it but you can hide it. The hide button is to the left of the quote bxes at the bottom of your post. Kate
  6. I was quite shocked about my eyes, I have never had bags before and was always told I didn't look my age. Each day they feel less 'tight' but they are still swollen a little. My daughter in law is 31 and she still gets asked for ID !! lol @@fatontheinside When is the big day? Kate
  7. Who has decided to keep a journal of their pre and post surgery journey (for want of a better word)? I didn't but wish I had now as I have the memory of a flea. I never bothered writing down how much I lost in each month or dates as to when I hit goals because at that time I felt it didn't matter. My focus was on reaching my goal, not how fast or slow I did it. Do you note everything down? Do you write it in a book or do you keep it online? Why is it important to you ? Is it for your eyes only or do you share it with anyone else? Kate
  8. Sip, sip, sip, walk, walk, sleep. Rinse and repeat Congratulations, best wishes for a speedy recovery too! Kate

    Congratulations and speedy recovery Kate
  10. Everyone's recovery is so different. It took me a good 6 weeks to feel back to normal and yet some are back to work a few days after surgery. It depends on so many things. Water/drinks: within a few days No pain: after a week Less tired: after 6 weeks I went back to work at 4 weeks which was a mistake as I have a very stressful busy job. If I had my time again I would stay off for the 6 weeks.

    VSG on Monday

You have read everything you need to, joined this group for support and you will be fine!! Most people are nervous about the surgery but as you say in your post .. You are 'Ready to Fly'. Speedy recovery wishes sent your way. Make sure you come and let us all know how you are when you feel up to it. Hugs Kate
  12. Please don't do it, it's really not worth it. Have a non alcaholic cocktail instead

    Eat or drink....

Also remember that Protein drinks are classed as Fluid ( I always buy the powder protein and mix with Water, not milk) and you can drink around them without a time restriction. Hope this helps ! Kate

    Eat or drink....

This is my own opinion and I am not a medically qualified person, please remember that Fluids go straight through the stomach and so I have never waited 30-60 minutes after having fluids to eat. I wait 5-10 minutes max and then eat but always wait a minimum of an hour after eating to have any more fluids. You will have a lot of differing views from here and you should go by what your team tell you to do. Thats just what I did and it has always worked well for me. Kate
  15. I was so glad I was able to drink a lot after the first few days. I loved drinking lots of Water pre op and was worried I wouldn't be able to afterwards. You are very lucky, as was I, to be able to get all your fluids in without issues so early on. Congraulations on the surgery ! Kate

    Ugh....6 months?!?!

Six months is time to plan, read, research and prepare yourself for the change. It will fly by !!
  17. I have days when I have an appitite and days when I don't (even at 18 months out) and have to make sure I plan to eat. The good thing is, even though I have an appitite at times, I am satisfied with much smaller amounts (3oz fish/meat and small amount of veg) and I enjoy my food more. I eat clean and I am very mindful as to what I am eating. I stay away from slider foods as I know I probably wouldn't stop lol. I enjoy food now whereas before it was just a means to an end. I am in love with my VSG. Congratulations on the surgery and enjoy the honeymoon period. Just remember when its over, thats when the real hard work starts but if I can do it, anyone can!! Kate

    Keeping a journal

The only thing I have done is photos along the way. I intend to carry on until I am 6 months out from plastics. I feel as if I now want to write about the skin surgery before I forget. Maybe that should be a goal for me this week.

    Keeping a journal

I can see a book out in the near future ???? I am envious of you, I wish I had done that too.

  23. Hold a pillow over your tummy when you feel a coughing fit come on. Coughing, sneezing and hiccups all hurt so early on. I have a great deal of sympathy and respect you for giving up the cigarettes! I have never smoked but I know it's hard to stop. Hope it stops soon Kate
