New to this whole thing!
_Kate_ replied to mo.rgan.jean.vsg's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Really spend time researching and reading about the surgery, how you need to care for yourself afterwards, what each food stage is and how to make this a long term sucess story. Prepare for coming home by having things in so you don't have to go shopping. Have support arranged for when you get home. Keep busy, the pre op diet isn't easy to do, so keep your mind and body busy. Not too long now!! Exciting times Kate -

Congrats on the 58 llbs loss so far!! That's amazing and no wonder you are excited, you SHOULD be !!!! Keep up the good work! Kate -
Thank You ! I was worried about scaring too but my skin heals really well and my surgeon is top class. My tummy tuck scar has healed really well and should be a teeny silver line when I have fully recovered. Make sure you post about the other techniques as I am sure others would benifit about knowing that there are options to consider Kate

Starting Soft foods, suggestions welcomed
_Kate_ replied to janedoe92's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Thank you, I'll definitely try some of that, I unfortunately can't have fruits and veggies yet but I love boiled eggs. Do they have to be soft boiled, or is regular boil fine? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I just noticed you had a DS rather than a sleeve, as I did. It may be best to ask your NUT what they suggest. Have they given you a list of foods allowed in this stage? -
SUCH an inspiration. You have done so well and I KNOW that will continue. Amazing !!! *hugs* Kate

Starting Soft foods, suggestions welcomed
_Kate_ replied to janedoe92's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Soft flaky fish, chopped turkey or chicken, cheese and cottage cheese, boiled eggs, thicker scrambled eggs or poached eggs, advocado, thicker Soups, greek yogurt, soft fruits (nothing with seeds in them for this stage). Very soft veg which is not fibrus. Protein drinks and things from Phase 1. I think thats what I lived on for this stage. Kate -

Drinking before and after eating
_Kate_ replied to rdy2Bsleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is my own opinion and I am not a medically qualified person, please remember that I have never waited 30-60 minutes after having fluids to eat. I wait 5-10 minutes max and then eat but always wait a minimum of an hour after eating to have any more fluids. You will have a lot of differing views from here and you should go by what your team tell you to do. Thats just what I did and it has always worked well for me. However The pyloric valve at the bottom of your stomach stays open for liquids to pass through and so as long as there is no food blocking that passage, it runs right through. Food in your stomach gets digested, which turns it into liquids which signals the pyloric valve to open and let things pass through. If you drink something and there is food in your stomach, the pyloric valve could sense that liquid and allow the food to pass through earlier than it would have otherwise. So in short, drinking Water before eating is NOT going to stretch your sleeve, nor is it going to take any space up in your stomach, it just goes straight through. Drinking fluids with a meal or too early after a meal, should be avoided if you want to feel satisfied for any amount of time. If you do, Its not going to kill you, stretch the sleeve but its one of the things I feel make people sucessful with WLS. Just my 2 cents and each to their own. Kate -
Thank you !! im going to wait a few weeks and then go and buy new lacy sexy bras with matching knickers. I have only wanted to do that for .... ermmm 30 years..... and now I can yayyy
