7 Months Post-Op: Everything going great
Shamroxx replied to JPacella's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
How inspiring!! Thank you!!!!!! I'm 3 months out and down about 50 pounds - I hope to model after you and do another 50 in the next 3 months!!! Thanks for motivating me to work out. I haven't worked out at all since surgery in July! Shame on me!!! -
My issue is that I've shopped at Torrid and the Avenue which are not inexpensive. A pair of pants can easily cost $50.00. I'm considering getting as much tailored as I can. But things that weren't incredibly expensive I'll either donate or sell to a consignment shop. Maybe throwing out your old clothes will force you to work harder to NOT go back to the larger sizes ever again!!

can someone please explain the dreaded stall?
Shamroxx replied to Bean80128's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm stalled too. I wish I understood it and knew why it was happening to be able to combat it! Hang in there!! We'll get through it! -
I definitely experienced buyer's remorse from the day of surgery until about the beginning of my second week out of surgery. I was lucky to not feel sick or vomit or anything like that. My issue were my stomach muscles. The only way that I was comfortable and in no pain or discomfort was if I was lying completely flat on my back. For awhile I thought that I would bedridden for the rest of my life! That made me regret the surgery. Then I started feeling better and saw the weight melting off and became grateful for this tool. I've been stalled for a few weeks so it's been somewhat challenging to stay motivated and upbeat but I just keep telling myself that it can't last forever and that I just have to keep doing what I know is right. You're not alone girlfriend!! Go look at some before and after photos - that may pep you up a bit! It sure got me out of my funk! We're here for you! We're all in this together!

Leggings are so freakin' comfortable I refuse NOT to wear them! I have all kinds of designs too - from plain black ones to those with flowers or skulls on them!! I have at least 30 pair or maybe even more! Until I'm much smaller they are my go to! I get the thicker ones though so they don't necessarily look like tights. I even have a few pair of jeggings (leggings that look like jeans)!! Sooooo comfy!!! Rock on with your leggings girlfriend! I totally support this movement! :)

I've been stuck too. I just decided to lay off the scale for a while and keep doing what I know it right knowing that eventually the stall will end! I'm trying to stick to no-scale-September. We'll see how that goes! I keep telling myself over and over again that stalls CAN'T last forever. Weighing every day will drive you nuts when you're not losing lbs. Hey maybe you're losing inches and not lbs right now?? I'll take that as well. Good luck to you on your journey! Hope your stall (and mine) break soon!

Pregnant 4 months post op.
Shamroxx replied to kaninag's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Congratulations!! You're the third one that I read about getting preggo today! Makes me nervous I won't lie. I want to wait at least a year and a half before getting pregnant. Better restock my birth control huh?? Were you on birth control? -
Congratulations!! I'm so scared of getting pregnant too soon! I think I'll continue my birth control just in case.

It's been a long, long while...
Shamroxx replied to makemyownluck's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That is my biggest fear - besides loose skin. I'm so afraid to get pregnant right after losing a ton of weight. Were you on birth control? -
I'm at a stall too but I'm only 6 weeks out. I hope it passes soon!

I had my surgery 7.13. I stayed in the hospital 2 days. I'm not nauseous, gas pains are minimal and pass very quickly and I'm able to hold down my liquids just fine but my stomach muscles are kicking my butt. Before yesterday I was only comfortable laying flat on my back - now I'm able to sit up at a slight recline but still can't sit up straight. It is a struggle to get up and I can't really sit up for very long, or stand long enough to shower so my mom and sister has to wash me up. It's been rough. I was prescribed Norco and later Percocet but neither eased the pain that I feel when engaging my stomach muscles. I was just wondering if anyone else had this experience? I went to the ER, and back to my surgeon and they don't seem to think anything is wrong but I thought with being almost 2 weeks I would be able to be a bit more mobile than I am. I don't know if having a hernia repaired or removed (whatever they did) would add to my down time but I thought I would mention that as well. Thanks in advance for your input!

Pureed foods, really?
Shamroxx replied to Jim in Utah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you have an easy recipe that you could share for ricotta bake? That sounds really yummy!!! -
By slider do you all mean that they slide down the sleeve easily or slide out of your bowel??? I've never heard of this.

I haven't had my surgery yet (it's actually Monday ) but from what I've seen on different forums it's very normal to stall somewhere around 2 - 3 weeks! Keep doing what you know is right to do and the weight will come off. I've already conditioned my mind to expect this so I won't freak out when it happens. Good luck on your journey!
-
Congrats on your success!! My surgery is Monday!! I can't wait! It's so strange (and sad) that some women have great difficulty being supportive and complimentary to other women. I, on the other hand, go out of my way to compliment women. There is a girl at my church that over heard me talking about my upcoming surgery to someone else and immediately started saying negative things about the process and telling me that I'm fine the way that I am. Really??? Or do you just NOT want me to have the surgery because you know what it will do for my confidence and self esteem?? I think that sometimes your awesomeness (my made up word lol) magnifies the insecurities of others! I hate that it's that way but I'm finding that more often than not - it is that way. Anyway! Yooooouuu, my dear, look amazing! I'm so happy for you!!!!!

Thank you

Soooo just curious for all those on the losers bench - did your feet shrink along with the rest of your body? I have my surgery on Monday ( emotions all over the place lol) and while talking to one of my girlfriends she asked if she could have all of my shoes (I'm a collector ) once I'm at my goal weight. I thought that was weird and asked her why would I give away my shoes - she said that her cousin had lost about 75 pounds and her shoe size went from an 8.5 to a 7. I was totally shocked! Has this happened to anyone else out there??? I knew that my clothes would no longer fit and I was prepared to make monthly donations to the Salvation Army or my local homeless shelter but my shoes??? How true it this?????

Glad to hear that you got your stripes!!! I'll definitely check out your blog. Monday is my big day!!

I hope that you feel better!!
