Beachsprite replied to Crash2015's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was back on my motorbikes yesterday at 2 weeks and 1 day - was totally fine, i waited until i had no pain from incisions or movements or stretches then i felt ready. and it was great - missed my time on it! -

Beachsprite replied to Violet S.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agree with Dream4tc sounds like syptoms of a possible stricture. -
My doctor is having me eat pureed foods already 3 days post op. Is that normal?
Beachsprite replied to Kaitlin89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on yogurt and apple puree 1 day out 2 weeks out i'm still on purees but more blended meat with soup I'm also having some of that soft pretend crab meat stuff which is going in fine. Sadly after surgery I am now badly lactose intolerant so all my planned shakes and Greek yogurt are off the menu. -
I'm just...so thirsty.
Beachsprite replied to theother_onefoot's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was given a straw to drink from 12 hours after surgery - medically the straw thing is a myth. I found either with a straw or without you still take in air. -
Nobody said anything
Beachsprite replied to tina0377's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From past experience i have to lose around 50lb until it's noticeable to others -
Feel like eating too much?
Beachsprite replied to wagyu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are still on liquids soup yogurt etc are all liquids. Sounds like your stomach just empties faster rather than stretching it or it's too big. Eat 3 times a day slowly stop at 20 minutes or less if u have already finished your amount of food recommend by your nut. You should feel more restriction when on more solid food. -
First time cooking after 10 days
Beachsprite replied to ylluz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your lucky i was cooking for the whole family 3 days after the op - but it was OK, I actually enjoyed it and watching them eat and enjoy it without the drive to dive in myself - it was actually refreshing not to be nibbling as I cook, serving up a big portion for myself then snarfing the left overs over the course of the evening -
while i'm still on purees but you you could just mush it less but i seem to be living on blended chicken with veg soup

How long off work did you have?
Beachsprite replied to Melbournegirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I booked 2 weeks but things are falling apart and half my team are ill so will go back tomorrow 1 week 1 day. Office work but still struggling to get in what I need to. -
Super lighheaded and exhausted
Beachsprite replied to bonniegold's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It can. I am the same. Milk is broken down by certain enzymes if u don't have much in your body it's harder to digest the stomach helps the gut by starting the breakdown process. If the stomach can no longer do this and you gut can't handle it whole it can happen. Also the enzyme production can he trummaed in to stop producing. For example I am lactose intolerant when pregnant until about 3 months after. Then production of lactese gets going again and I don't have extreme runs n gas when I have dairy in fact I'm fine. I am slightly gutted it's come back. But hopefully a few months down the track it will be OK. -
Sample day of eating
Beachsprite replied to mimorison's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can no longer at least for now eat anything milk related so Greek yogurt whey shakes ricotta etc all out for me I'm pureeing cooked chicken and veg soup and eating that 3 times a day managing about half a small tea cup at a time maybe a little less. Taking 20 mons to manage that. Also sleeve doesn't like cold plain water so living on herbal caffeine free fruity teas. Forgot to mention I'm on day 5. -
Everytime I sip on protein now
Beachsprite replied to ylluz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup I've also become lacrosse or milk Protein intolerant. Sipping a Protein shake made it sound like fireworks going off inside. I had a small Greek yogurt today and promptly had my my first dumping experience. On the upside I had not been for 6 days so it cleared me out lol. Tried a tiny bit of cheese melted in my refried Beans and again no good. So yip looks like I have to give up all things dairy for a while. Which I'm gutted about as I was relying on them to get me through! -
Hi everyone well I am four days post op. My surgeon and Nut allow thicker liquids from day one. So while I have had a few more bites each day and getting more in it turns out my new sleeve doesn't like dairy :/ I was relying on Greek yogurt and Protein shakes to get me through the next 3 weeks. Now I'm at a loss and it's the weekend here in nz. I have been able to get in some savory stage one baby food and some homemade pumkin Soup. But neither have much protein in. Just ate them so I wouldn't collapse from lack of calories. And yes they were both allowed food for first few days.

4 week check up
Beachsprite replied to emilyphoenix74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to hear about your experience and it's so true we often know our bodies better than drs. I've had similar experiences over the years. On the upside congrats on getting if the blood pressure pills!!? -
Do "lightweights" tend to hit goal?
Beachsprite replied to POSE2VSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon told me statistically that the lighter you start thus journey the more chance you have if hitting the healthy bmi range. He often operates on those heading around 60bmi in the public system and they do less well than someone around the 40 bmi mark. Of course he sees the opposite occur but typically those are the results -
Did anyone go back to work before 2 weeks ?
Beachsprite replied to shellyd67's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was planning to buy gut feeling when excuse the pun. Is I will still be too weak and working on gas pains, hydration and getting protein in. I do have z desk job so I can manage urgent emails from home but think I will limit my self to that. -
Burping... It doesn't feel right
Beachsprite replied to Gensjourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm right with you definitely the worst thing so far. Managed a few more fluid today but the gas pain just doesn't seem to be letting up much. Hopefully next week it will just be an unpleasant memory! -
Finally got my surgery date! August 17th
Beachsprite replied to Margie122's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@TXTinana I know the feeling being away from all the hospital meds and reclining beds etc is hard. And being woke up to be given pain meds etc was a pain i realize now why they did it. I slept through last night as i was so tired but woke up feeling terrible having not kept up with my drug regime. Every sip of water has been painful and have to burb. Anyway I have started to learn a few tricks- warm sugar free flavoured drink is going down much better than cold plain water. for me warm smoothy runny soup is going in better than cold Greek yogurt etc. (better mention here my nut/surgeon plan is straight onto thinker liquids that could be strained like protien shake and smooth runny soup etc)the worst thing is all my meds seem to be quite big capsules which really hurt. I'm starting to feel a little shakey on m feet and weak armed so now i've got my new tricks trying to get in as much as possible before i get more dehydrated and too low for too long on calories. I believe in a week or so so long as we all work on our own tips and tricks with in our guidelines we will start feeling more human -
5 days to go. Should I cheat?
Beachsprite replied to John Michaels's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most will say don't and you shouldn't but if u do my dietician said reach for Protein. So how about a piece or two of dry tandoori chicken with a little yogurt dip? I forgot to add cheating once can lead to more cheating. Which given you are very close now could be a very bad thing. -
Any August Sleevers?
Beachsprite replied to DrewzWife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay I'm now post op! Pain and nausea were at a 8/9 out of ten when I woke up took quite a few hours to get under control but feeling much better now nausea gone thanks to a patch they put on and pain maybe 2/3 out of ten. Able to sip Water with some discomfort, didn't get any sleep with all the check ups but managed to half doze. I'm in for one more night then home tomorrow morning. I can't believe this is real! All the best to you all on your journeys and speedy recovery! -

Any August Sleevers?
Beachsprite replied to DrewzWife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have mine Tuesday too but being in NZ it will most likely be your Monday night(assuming most of you are state side) I can't believe the years of dreaming and months of waiting are so close to being real.
