hi queenie! my surgery total was $8000 for the allergan band but the johnson & johnson band is $7,250 i was told the allergan is a higher pressured band so you may need less fills then the johnson&johnson...joanne was my patient facilitator also and she herself has the allergan band and had given me very positive feedback about that specific band! the $8000 includes all xrays...the band..the anesthsia.. everything you can imagine comes with the surgery there are no hidden costs at all...the only thing is you have to fly or drive yourself there! but i assure you i had a great experience with dr. rod and the belite team!

does everyone that has fills experience this being to tight? i cant have my first fill for another 4 weeks and now i am absolutely frightened to have one! i dont want to pb or slime or feel miserable...

i was banded on 1/23 and wasnt hungry for a few days but once i was out of the hospital and back at home i found myself very hungry...i was on broth also but also on jello which is what the hospital was feeding me i found that jello helped ALOT the 3.5oz cup of jello really hit the spot...they say jello is considered to be a liquid even though its not actually in liquid form...however now that i am 11 days out i find myself being more hungry everyday i am able to eat pureed soups and mashed potatoes so that helps alot but last night i felt that i was still very hungry after having my soup so i decided to eat some pudding and boy i never should have because my stomach hurt pretty bad after that and i found everytime i tried to take a deep breath it also hurt! most people dont have restriction after being banded therefore you think your starving until you start getting fills....

i had my surgery done in juarez mexico by dr. rodriguez and all my expenses were a total of $8000 because of the band i chose and they also do free fills but i will be going to a doctor closer to me for them so i dont have to fly anywhere! i have found a few doctors within a 2 hour distance from me that take mexico patients..however i do have to pay another $900 for one of the dr.s for 2 combined appointments and then $187 a fill after that or i can go with weightwise for another $2000 for the first year and then $100 a fill from then on....it does add up but it all depends on where you really want to go to have your fills! if you dont want to pay anymore out of pocket cost then you can always go back to mexico for your fills but unless you live really close to the doctor you had you surgery with then you have to include plane tickets or gas money while going back to mexico!

i was told that if you just cant stand not being able to drink anything at all while eating then get just a glass of ice and sip on whatever melts that way you know your not drinking to much!

oh i feel very hungry but i know its on the initial stages because i cant have anything but full liquids right now..im sure when i get to eat regular foods it will get ALOT better but i know i will also have to really control what i eat before my first fill! the band is only a tool to help you lose weight you cant expect to get the band and it do all the work for you...it doesnt work that way and its all really comes down to mind over matter if you let your mind think you are going to fail then more then likely you will...however if you are determined to lose the weight and really set your mind to it you will succeed...its will power! i am VERY hungry but i am not going to mess this up i consider this my 2nd chance at life so im going to use it to my advantage! hang in there!!

i beg to differ...i asked that i not have dr. corvalla and they assured me it would be dr. rod and it was he did have another surgeon there named dr. calderone but they were BOTH great surgeons and i wouldnt have done it any other way! i felt very comfortable after having my surgery and became very good friends with most of the staff i couldnt have asked for anything more i felt i was taken care of in an excellent manner! as for belite i have absolutley no problems with them either! they did a wonderful job scheduling my surgery and they were VERY helpful with any and all questions i had before and so far after my surgery! i have been banded for 10 days now and i honeslty believe that the belite team and all the staff and surgeons at hospital Angeles in juarez were excellent! everyone has their own opinions and experiences!

ok call me crazy but i am VERY new to all of this i am 1 week out of surgery as of today but i am so confused about the whole slippage thing! i know vomiting can cause slippage but i would also think that burping or hiccuping would also cause slippage....what does everyone think about this and what have you been told? and can someone please tell me how to edit my ticker? as od today i have lost 14 pounds in 7 days so im super excited at losing 2 pounds a day!

that sounds like a really good deal especially in oklahoma which happens to be where i am from but i am newly banded on 1-23-08 and i have contacted weightwise to see about my aftercare for the fills and they want $2000 that is pretty expensive if you ask me! i have found another doctor in okc who wants $900 for 2 appointments combined and then $187 a fill after that! it still sounds expensive but alot cheaper the weightwise!

im curious as to why on your first fill they did a large fill? could this be a possible reason for the band erosion? sorry i am brand new to the band and i am very scared that something is going to happen to mine! i was banded 1/23/08 and am down 11 lbs so far! but there is this constant worrying that my band could slip-erode-or something else happen!

not true!!! they will not start the passports until the summer of 08 so all is good until then! they had plans on making it for the end of jan 08 but it has been pushed back once again! just a drivers license and birth certificate is required right now!
