Drinking after eating
Dub replied to natarshassleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought it would be an issue for me. It really hasn't been as I hate the feeling I get if I drink too soon after eating. Waiting 30 mins has been really easy to do. I fail miserably at waiting 30 mins after drinking to eat, though. I do great on getting my Water in. I pound that stuff all day long. I love it. Staying hydrated is easy and feels great. -
Worked a long shift yesterday and stayed over to nail down a few things. It was my last workday prior to the surgery. Made a quick pitstop in the restroom on the walk out. Glanced in the mirror while washing hands and it hit me.......this is the last time you'll be here at this weight. Everything is about to change. It also registered that I was wearing a cotton polo work shirt with the company's logo. It was a 5XLT. I plan on returning to work wearing newer, smaller shirts as I'm guessing I'll be out 3-4 weeks due to related hernia repairs. The old shirt went into the trash. Awesome feeling. I walked out of there feeling like I was heading towards a great place. Even had less limp, maybe even a bit of swagger in my step. Old Sasquatch exited the job. Slim Shady will be returning. Looking for the lean living ahead.

Drinking Premier Caramel in my coffee right this second. Not too shabby. I'm done forevermore with strawberry Protein shakes. The unjury strawberry shake mix ruined me on it. Worst tasting stuff I've ever tried. One swallow and both canisters went in the trash can. Chike is the one brand that I've tried where each of their flavors really was exceptionally good. I almost don't believe their labels......the stuff tastes too good to have so few carbs.

How many pant sizes did you lose in a year?
Dub replied to Synee's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I went from a 60" to 42". More left to loose. -

The new symphony of sounds was something I noticed early on. It still occurs but not to the levels that it once did.

Lawd.....woke up this morning with ringing ears and pounding head. Too old to stay out late in loud places......but I know coffee....glorious coffee awaits each dawn.

Dumping isn't something that many sleeve patients have. Some do. I never have. I will, however, feel gross after eating anything with lots of sugar in it.....but it's not dumping so much as it is just not being accustomed to eating lots of sugar. Your sleeve will only slow your fall. You have to be in charge of not jumping off the cliff, though.

Very cool !!!!!! I imagine that has to feel good to achieve this level of loss and fitness. -
You are kicking butt and taking names !!!!! Great job. It's funny how many of us are "taking the easy way out" yet we have embraced frequent exercise into our lifestyles. Keep on kicking butt.

The only good thing about cooler weather? THE CROCK POT! What's in yours?
Dub replied to LipstickLady's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Do you Brown the beef before putting in the crock pot? Sent from my VS986 using the BariatricPal App I did.....but if you buy really lean ground chuck you can simply dump it in there raw. RAW GROUND BEEF IN THE CROCK POT???? I just threw up a little. Raw. It ain't purty, but it's how I roll. 93% lean. Cooked for 8 hours on low. -

Howdy folks. A year has passed and I'm grateful as can be for this surgery. So grateful !!!!!! Went to the doctor today for followup blood work and checkup. All is well....my prior high blood pressure was normal.....and I'm no meds for it. Good stuff.

Cooking after surgery and kids

Take a typical meal......serve everyone the full spectrum......but leave off the sides and Desserts for yourself......and cut the size of the entree in half. Start from there and see how it goes for a month. -
What can we take when we are sick?
Dub replied to ZollDoll's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been cleared to have any med, any time for any condition. One of the nice things about the sleeve. -
Do any of you vets completely ignore this rule?
Dub replied to tenseintexas's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is odd. Truly a case of each of us having to refine things to our individual preferences. I've never really noticed any problems with losing weight when I was pre-op and drinking Diet Dews and the other diet colas. It's just something now that I"m glad to set aside. I was drinking way more of them than I should. I feel better....more hydrated....with Water and coffee. I still rely on Splenda for coffee.....and likely always will. -

Had a Diet Pepsi at 11 months out. Was during a working lunch. Two minutes after finishing it off.......was my turn to address the group. Carbonation was not fun. Thought I was gonna hurl the entire time....Every time I opened my mouth to speak it felt like bubbles were gonna fly outa my mouth. Surgeon gave me the okay to have Diet Dews if I wanted them (6th month appointment). He said, "Sure...give 'em a try if you can tolerate them". I think it was a setup. Tha brotha knew I'd not be able to. I'm perfectly okay with Water & coffee. -
Do you still struggle with tiny bites post-op?
Dub replied to anonmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tiny bites.....I don't do 'em. Smaller bites......yes. Chew the heck outa each......yes. Eat a bit faster than was preached by NUT......yes. You'll find what works for you. -
7 months......tremendous achievements. Could you ever see yourself in a 5K race.......or a 15K race when you were contemplating the future pre-op ? It is my opinion that you've already won the race. The health and emotional benefits you've tapped into through the training and ramp up to this event have to be leaving you feeling 10 feet tall and bulletproof.

Wow......unreal. First episode opened up bigtime. The aftermath of those developments is going to be impossible to recover from for the group.....and yet...they always do...somehow. I was grateful that I didn't know who it was going to be. I had my guesses. Further demonstration that the real horrors they face are other people and not the zombies.

Your NUT allows caffeine? I've been off the stuff since March. My NUT doesn't allow much in life but a breath of fresh air. My surgeon was cool with my coffee.

Iced Water is my mainstay. I love it. I drink it all day long. I feel great from being hydrated and staying that way. I also LOVE my coffee. Favorite is a venti hot dark roast from Starbucks....5 Splenda and cream. I can't freaking wait until my next morning off work when I can go to Starbucks after leaving the gym.....getting my cup of java and calling my best friend and catching up on what I've been missing.
