Thank you, sexy mama. Be careful if you get out there in that crazy weather you are experiencing. Huge respect for your motivation to get gym bound so soon after your surgery. Huge respect. My lazy arse took 10+ weeks to finally do so. Lazy old dude. I was glad I went, though......as I was surrounded by non-laziness.....folks on the move and doing work. I need to be around that. Had to leave my peeps from the pizza buffet in the dust........ Yes, on this very day.....I actually posted a pic of some huge wood. Wasn't my wood.......but representative of the lumber that I've seen conjured up lately.

Don't worry, bro. Soon.................... Soon...................

Thank you all. You are all awesome and have helped me see the way of the new life. So grateful, I don't even know where to begin. The relief is almost overwhelming. Gonna be careful in the gym.....no freaking injuries......old dude lifting the pink weights. @jenn1 thanks for the tunes. @winklie I concur with the gym bunnies running around everywhere. I am completely blown away at the extreme fitness level I seen in many older gym patrons...50+ year olds who look to be 1/2 that age. Proud of them and want to join their ranks. @Babbs , @Elode and @OKCPirate thank you for lighting the way to the path that led to the loser's bench. @Blairwithme we've got this thing, woman....time to rock it hard in 2016 !!!!!!

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?
Dub replied to Jenaenae84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Absolutely amazing results right there. You've gotta be feeling good. October 13th 2015 surgery date for me. I was 478 in June 2015 when starting the pre-op diet and 422 on the date of surgery. I am 363 now. Sure was hoping to make it to 350 before New Years Day.....but I know I'll be there soon. Heading out to the gym for the first time today. Feeling really good with my sleeve and grateful for everything. -
Love pickles, too. I resumed eating them after I was cleared for solid foods. Pickle juice (the non-sugary type) is a wonderful remedy for muscle soreness from workouts. Famous Dave's & Wickle's are my favorites, but I have to limit these to very infrequent eating due to the sugar content. The basic dill spear is what I normally have.

Things are continuing in the right direction. There is nothing about my sleeve experience that I'd change......other than wishing I'd done so sooner. Back in September I hit my 47th birthday and my sleeve surgery was a month away. I saw a t-shirt online that I wanted. At the time I was wearing 5xl-6xl shirts. The new t-shirt was only made in 3XL or smaller. Bought it anyway thinking that I'd maybe be wearing it next Summer. I was able to get a really good night's sleep last night for the first time in weeks. Crazy long days at work on 4hrs sleep each day. I said I'd not do that anymore, either. Was a huge point of discussion during my pre-op psyche eval....good rest is critical to weight loss. I've got to work on this aspect. Woke up....had coffee and decided that today would be my first day back to the gym. Found some gym shorts that I'd also bought with the Summer in mind. Seeing as how it's gonna hit 75 degrees today....figured I'd just try them on to see how far away I was from being able to wear them............ Been grinning like a goofy kid ever since. I never envisioned being able to feel this good so soon, coming from where I was just a few months ago.....a broke down limping grumpy bastard. As Mr Rourke used to say on Fantasy Island....."Smiles......smiles everyone!". Gonna bear hug my surgeon at next months appointment. He's a freaking wizard. Hoping he'll pronounce my hernia "all good" and release me to the rock pile......... Until then it's treadmill & elliptical machines ,but I'm so dang grateful for them, too.

3 Month Post-Op and feel good, but slow losing

What are your work outs ? Cardio...weight training.......combination of both? How is your Water intake ? Maybe drop all fruits if you can stand it. Sounds like you are getting things done well. Keep after it. -
CPAP - before and after surgery?
Dub replied to RollingRing's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm down almost 120 lbs since June. I still need it just as bad as ever. Others have had better luck. -
My goal was to lose weight.......before/after surgery was of zero concern....simply to lose the weight. At the begining stages I of the 6+ month program I followed my NUT's calorie restricted diet. After deciding to self fund the surgery date was moved up quickly. At that point I no longer saw the original NUT and did a low calorie & low carb diet that transitioned into the final 2 week pre-op liquid diet (Protein shakes only). The result was I lost 58 pounds prior to surgery......and then 58 more pounds so far since my Oct 13th surgery. Trust me when I say this.......get off every pound you can right now......don't wait for the surgery to do it. I wish that I'd have lost more before the surgery......for a number of reasons.

3 Month Post-Op and feel good, but slow losing
Dub replied to SunnyPiper's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Find a way to get more Water in. How is the excercise routine ? Are you able to step up the frequency or intensity of excercise ? Looks like you are doing great on Protein intake. -
Tick, tock.. surgery in the morning
Dub replied to MNSkolGal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll do great.......I know this because I spy a Schnauzer in your avi pic. Schnauzers bring good luck with surgeries. My oldest has now been at a my side as I recovered from 4 different post-op healings. Great breed. Surgery is going to go great. Just like Inner Surfer Girl said.....get up and walk every 3-4 hours at least. You'll profit from doing so in a big way. -
Survived a Cruise 1 month post op
Dub replied to Angry Banana's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
No way I'd have done that cruise so soon after surgery. Cruises are great. Going on another in a few months....roughly 5.5 months post-op. Didn't want to book it until I knew I was on solid ground with all aspects of recovery. Glad you survived. -
I bought a bunch of the Gas-X strips everyone said to bring.......it's still in the cabinet unused. Never needed it. Get your pain meds filled ahead of time. You'll want a dose for the ride home. Also take an extra pillow. Hold it against your abdomen for the ride home. Trust me on this. It'll keep things from jostling around when you go over bumpy road sections. Worked wonders after 3 hernia repairs.
-
It's gonna go great !!!! I'd not do the beer thing during the liquid diet, though. You are going to feel much, much better in a day or two and life gets easy.
-
Thank you very much. I wanted to update this thread because I wanted to emphasize how easy things get in just a short time after the surgery. I'm 2.5 months out and living with the sleeve is really easy. Even with the hernia repair I'd do the surgery again in a skinny minute. Nothing to it.

Advice on how to get all your water in
Dub replied to tink401's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Of all the struggles that may or may not come with losing weight. Getting the recommended water is the easiest thing. Simply always have my water bottle with me when I'm walking around....or my Yeti 30oz cup loaded with ice water when I'm at my desk, car or at home. Easy to get in 2-3 times the recommended 64 oz if you try. -
Honestly......my best advice is to buy Cookies, brownies and such from a bakery. Have them for the guests and then send the leftovers home with them.

I lost 93 pounds in 4 months but I dont feel much different.
Dub replied to leighannnn1791's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 414 pounds your starting BMI was 57 (classed as Super Morbidly Obese) After losing another 93 pounds your BMI is going to be 44. (Morbidly Obese) After losing another 93 pounds your BMI is going to be 31.(Obese) Losing more will get you into the Overweight category. I share very similar numbers and classifications. They are harsh places to find ourselves. I sometimes think the 114 lbs I've lost is not really noticeable, too. I've got that much and more left to lose. It simply is evidence of how far out of shape I was. I'd allowed myself to fall off to the point where I was in a weight classification like you were. Most all of us have dieted in the past and lost this much weight on our own, enough to get to the next lower BMI level...........and then backslid. You had the surgery.....and will do the gym work needed......and maintain the discipline to do better than this. You did it to reach and maintain a level of NORMAL BMI. 93 pounds in 4 months is a start.....that is all. It's just a point in time on the way to your real goal. Don't hang up on....keep working hard to get where you want to be. You'll get there. Your old clothes will be long gone and you'll be strutting around nekkid all the time. Keep working and you'll get there. -
Morning tummy is smaller?
Dub replied to Emilie.Lancaster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's just the texture and moisture level of your food that is allowing more or less.
