    Does it ever get better?

Thank you! Did you "find your stride" by finding things that you were able to eat, or were you more able to digest food in general? Thanks for the encouragement, everyone! I found it once I realized that the liquid phase...pre & post is simply temporary......the part where you figure out what, when and how to eat more solid foods is not much fun......but once I advanced past that and realized I could pre-portion my meals and eat a slow pace I could avoid discomfort and it all worked out great. Weight loss was steady and I felt great. Nothing has changed over the months following, either. Life is good. Zero complaints.
  4. You are right about taking the calories into account. Calories are calories....be them in liquid or more solid form. I am astounded at how many calories I used to drink. Crazy. The pre-op liquid diet sucks.....but at least if done correctly you'll get some great weight loss from it and lead into your surgery with excellent momentum. It'll pass quickly, too.
  5. Healthy, wealthy and wise ? Meh......how 'bout two outa three. Yeah, that's it.....that's the ticket. Healthier in every imaginable way.......and recent events have allowed glimpse of budding wisdom, dare I say. Wealth was spent on medical events and self funding the sleeve surgery last year....ouch, but oh so worth it. Looking forward to being one of the hombres that gets his checkups every so often and the proactive dental visits. Other than than....my only cash outlay for medical stuff is my gym membership. LOL. The new life sure beats the old life. Why did I wait so freaking long. Feels good to be on solid ground and looking ahead with anticipation and hope. Spring is coming and I'm READY !!!!

Thank you @BairwithMe & @heather5565 I'd better get some good crash pads for the bike rides and learn how to shift gears on one again Bought a nice mountain bike a few years ago and let's just say that it wasn't true what they say about never forgetting how to ride......and who in the hell designed the seats on those things??? Groin torture not fun.....bought the padded shorts and all.....looked mighty funny in my padded booty shorts, too. Guaranteed to make you laugh yourself silly. Thank you for your support and encouragement. There is no doubt about it.....I am better for finding this place and the amazing people here, like your highly motivated self. I see your fitbit numbers and I just shake my head in and say, "Keep Killing it !!!!". Much respect for your hard work.

  6. Regrets over my sleeve surgery? Yes. Just one....... Wish I'd done it sooner !!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Only 4 months out from sleeve surgery here, but I am very uncomfortable if I drink anything 30-34 mins after a meal. I have learned this the hard way.

  9. I didn't take a bite of ANYTHING for a lot further out than 7 days. Your new stomach is healing right now......please be very careful. What type of things are you eating now?

    Does it ever get better?

It gets better for sure. You are in the toughest part of the post-op experience........at least that I've been through thus far. I remember weeks 5-6 and on being able to find my stride and glad for the trouble-free time ever since.

    Energy!

It is very cool how it does get amped up and it's like running on some type of turbo motor !!!!
  12. I was told 3-4 Premier Protien shakes......or others from the approved list. That enabled me to get into and maintain ketosis when I checked using the test strips........just like being in a low-carb diet. For me.......40-50 grams of carbs will push the limits...,,,staying under that level virtually ensured it. YMMV. The ketosis subject never came up with my surgeon......I just was curious and decided to see. He has always provided very clear instructions on what to eat and how much......all throughout this process. He never said anything like, "clear liquids"....,he defined exactly what I could have. I really appreciate simplicity.

    pureed at 1 week?

I started off right around your weight.....actually a bit higher. Surgeon kept me on liquids post-op for the first 4 weeks. The weight loss experienced then was golden. I think I'm going to go back to that for a week or so and get that rate of loss going all over again.

    Constipation

Milk of Magnesia works wonders............ It was what my surgeon recommended when he smacked me on the arse and sent me on my way home from the hospital.

    Alcohol?

    Anyone ever tried these ????
  16. This was my 7th surgery that was done in an OR and involved anesthesia. Ankle, knees, hernias, etc were all done prior. The sleeve surgery was an absolute piece of cake. Nothing to it.

    post op work lunches

I keep a dozen or so flavored tuna packets in my desk drawer. I try to rotate around among the flavors. They make excellent lunches. So do the Protein bars and beef Jerky packs

    Post op diet

I stayed Protein shakes only for the first 4 weeks. I wanted to make sure that puppy was healed and ready. I also was enjoying the rate the scale was moving. Figured I have the rest of my life to eat.......but wanted to take my time and heal properly.

    Happy

Well done !!!!!!!!!! Rock your new happy self !!!!
  20. Atkins + cardio exercise + drink lots of Water. When doing Atkins....stay in a calorie deficit, too. Don't believe the bull that folks tell you that you don't have to count calories......because you must. Low carb calories deficit and drinking plenty of water will have that weight falling off you quickly........
  21. Temporary state........I felt the same way initially. Now....unbelievable improvement....... Up at 4:00am yesterday. Worked a 14 hour day....walking a few miles on my job....hectic day....tech issues & staffing problems....fully engaged in troubleshooting and humping it the entire time. Lifted weights on my lunch break. Went to bed at 11:30pm. Woke up at 4:00am today, voluntarily....on my only day off over a span of seven 13-14 hour workdays. Felt ready to go into battle with ogres, orcs or dire wolves......ready to rock 'n roll shortly after stretching out my sore back. No combat to be had, thusly, a proper Breakfast for the family was cooked. Have a few projects to handle and then off to the gym for more weight training and 5 miles on the treadmill. I'll get home and toss something on the grill for our dinner later on. Today will be a glorious day off.....regardless the weather.....regardless of what comes up. 5 months ago.....pre-sleeve......I would have woken up and felt like one of the zombies from The Walking Dead. Hang in there.....everything...and I mean EVERYTHING will get better. Sometimes we just have to get out of our own way.

    Sensitive subject

There are no sensitive subjects here among us......just the occasional overly sensitive, easily butthurt member. Just a dude's perspective, here.....due to prolonged back pain issues and other poor health stuff....the months leading up to my sleeve surgery were a drought of activity of any kind. Very unusual state for me. It was something that I never saw coming and when it hit......so did the near immediate motivation to get out from underneath controllable health issues once and for all....the decision to have wls was made. Abdominal hernia patch job done at time of sleeve. The desire to get busy and get my groove on was there a couple weeks after surgery....but the hernia wound kept me in check. About the time I hit the 6-8 week mark it was game-on....ready to rock 'n roll when the opportunity presented itself. For reasons other than surgery the opportunity has been a rare occasion, but I stand ready, willing and able. At 4.5 months.....I can say that it is on my mind about as much as it was when I was a teenager.
