I never order them out, but make them at home. Bake some skinless wings in over and toss lightly with sauce when they are done. I can eat one to one and a half.

I don't do buffets. They are an absolute waste of money. I've had Chinese food since surgery, but was 9 months out and at goal weight. I ordered a small meal and ate on it for a week. As a rule of thumb when dining out, my husband and I share a meal. We always have leftovers. I refuse to waste food. If I can't re-heat it, I won't order it.

No real difference right after. I mean, I had a baby six weeks before I had surgery. I am now 15 months out. At my 12 month check up my Iron was still really low. I've always had low iron, but supplements weren't helping. I went to a hematologist and ended up having an infusion. At the infusion they asked me, well, don't you feel tired with iron this low. I said, "ma'am, I work full time, have a one year old, am in graduate school, and training for a half-marathon. Who knows if it is life or low iron?" 3 months after the infusion, I am not nearly as tired. I feel great. I have even upped my running. I do have to eat enough though.

How many calories after goal weight achieved?
AnA92212 replied to AnA92212's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That helps. Sometimes my surgeon and NUT are so far off from each other. Well, they were in the beginning. I see such ranges. Like some people are only eating 600 a day even a year post op. I average about 1200 to 1300 a day. I don't want to gain weight, but I don't want to lose either. -
Weight lost has slowed..just hit 4 weeks..Is this normal?
AnA92212 replied to Trulyabeautifulbeing's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yep, we usually call it the 3 week stall. Sounds like you got an extra week! Stalls are just part of it. You will hit many. Hopefully, it won't be as many as I did. Just keep doing what you are supposed to be doing and it will come off. -
Unfortunately, stalls are the name of the game. I hit MANY during my journey. Some were a month or 2 long. I just kept at it though. As long as you are following the guidelines, the weight will come off. It does get frustrating. Hang in there.

I'm so sorry. I can't even imagine the frustration. Hoping that playing the game will pay off.

No regrets. I have lost 170 pounds, found a love of running, and get to share my story with others. My life doesn't revolve around food. I don't feel sorry for myself. I like what I see in the mirror. I am not ashamed of myself. I like going to the doctor now and hearing, "You are in great physical health". I eat pizza as well, but not usually the crust. In fact, I eat whatever I want now. I choose to eat healthy, but occasionally will indulge.

Not behaving myself...
AnA92212 replied to judy vsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, talking to a trained therapist regarding food disorders is needed, and don't delay. Eating so quickly that you vomit is not safe (which you know) and can cause so many other issues. I wasn't hungry for almost a month after surgery so it was difficult just to get food down. Then, when I was actually hungry I could eat so little. Now 15 months out, I eat often (3 meals, and 3 Snacks a day) but I know when I am full and I stop. I sometimes want to eat more, but I don't dare. The good thing is that you recognize that this is not healthy and are seeking help. -
I have been lying on my drivers license, but not anymore

I was in an accident in November. I had lost like 150 pounds. The officer told me I needed to get that updated. LOL. It just expired, so I renewed. She asked, "Do we need to update anything?" I said, "Yes, that weight! Get that overweight girl off there!" -
This feels like forever

It is a process, but it is a good thing. This journey is more mental than physical. -
The only way to lose weight is I have to exercise

I never had this so-called honeymoon phase. I started working out 3 weeks after surgery and haven't stopped since. -
Question for veterans - hardest part for you?
AnA92212 replied to WitchySar's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I am almost 14 months out. I have been at/below goal since January. My goal weight set by the doctor was 135-145. I am now at 126. During the "losing" process, the hardest part was not getting frustrated during the stalls. I had MANY! Now, it is just trying to find the balance. -
My surgery was April 27 of last year. About 3 months out I had some hair loss. However, I have PCOS and lost ALOT more when I was at my heaviest on a daily basis. Now that I am over a year out, I don't have the hair loss. Make sure you are eating right and getting your Protein.

For some, they will not be able to eat one cookie. I can personally eat half a cookie and I am fine. We keep sweets in our home all the time. I am not even tempted. I know how hard I have worked this year to get off all this weight (163 pounds) A cookie, or pie, or cake, just isn't worth it. I definitely eat in moderation now though. I track 5 days a week and then don't track during the weekends. I still get approximately the same calories. I say, you can eat whatever you want, but plan for it. Then don't feel guilty about it. Last Saturday, I had a doughnut. It was super yummy. But, I also ran a 5K that day and then walked around all day. It's about balance for me. I couldn't go through the rest of my life and not eat a cupcake. Just like I can't skip my workouts.

Those who drink diet pop post-op {Only nice comments PLEASE}
AnA92212 replied to Beck90's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
My surgeon and NUT said NO!! I am saying NO as well. I used to drink 3-4 diet sodas a day before surgery. My surgeon said nothing carbonated ever again. I do not even drink carbonated Water. I also have PCOS and there are studies that show artificial sweeteners create excess insulin (which I don't need). Personally, it's a decision that you have to be OK with. Some folks eat cake and Cookies and carbs all the time. Some people can safely eat in moderation. I have personally given up artificial sweeteners in general because I think they are bad and cause other health side effects. You know your body and only time will tell if your stomach stretches. -
I get similar comments all the time. In my experience they haven't been rude, they just want there to be a magic pill. I admit, I have lost 162 pounds in a year, and that is extreme. So, people have questions. I don't keep my surgery a secret but I am quick to give them a run down of my exercise and eating habits. I work for this body and I will have to work to KEEP this body.

My mom was not very supportive but my husband's family has been. This is a great place for advice and support. Good luck on your journey.

I am still losing after my one year mark. My goal range was 135 to 145 and I am currently at 131. Agreed, good discussion for your NUT and/or surgeon.
-
I am below goal and I eat about 1200 to 1400 calories a day. Still staying hydrated and in my Protein range. My husband usually gets between 1500 and 1900 a day. We both run 3-4 days a week. I also do zumba once a week, body pump 2x a week, and walk twice a week.

There are risks to every surgery. You have to weigh that against the risks of being overweight. For me, I was 38, had high blood pressure, insulin resistant, and morbidly obese. I have 3 family members DIE before the age of 49 due to obesity and heart issues. I did not want that to be me. To me, it was worth the risk. Also, I had just given birth to a child 6 weeks before. Nothing is scarier than that (LOL). More people die of factors due to obesity than die from surgery. Yes, you could gain it back, but the success rate of those that meet their goal weight is MUCH higher than those who just try to lose on their own. Ultimately, only you can make the decision, but I have NEVER regretted the surgery. Wished I would have done it years ago!

So now that I'm maintaining a healthy size, I have an issue.
AnA92212 replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
After losing right at 160 pounds, I had to buy a completely new wardrobe. I no longer want big and baggy. I want to show my hard work. What's even better is that I get to give my too big size S and M and size 6 or 8 clothes to my mom. She weighs 30 pounds less than I do, but I have better muscle mass so I wear an XS or S and size 4. I have work clothes and some casual clothes. I also have to buy new shoes because I guess I lost weight in my feet too. I love to look at clothes but will only buy if it is a need or if it is a great deal. I do still have a family budget to maintain. -
Yay. I started running in December and doing a half later this year. I am running a 10.2 mile race in June just to get my bearings in for the half. So awesome! Love seeing us bari-athletes!

Today was my one year check up with my surgeon. I have lost 95% of my excess body weight. He is super proud of my accomplishments. He said I am in the top 10% of surgery patients for weight loss in 1 year. I also got the speech about maintaining and keeping up my good habits ! I have never regretted my surgery. I have not had any complications and have had a great amount of support during the process. My stats: Weight: 294 Now: 135 Size: 4x/28 Now xs-s/4 I literally couldn't run to my mailbox this time last year and now I am training for a half marathon and compete at least once a month in a 5K or 10K. I do zumba, lift weights, and have energy to play with my daughter. Life is good!
