Stapled, Stitched, or Glued???
Ann D replied to Poopsie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Internal Dissolving strips. Nothing to be taken out or pull on. -
Hey all, the pain in the center of your chest that goes around ot the back or straight through or if it sits just to the left of the breast bone...needs to be checked by a doctor. I had it in may before my surgery. It sent me to the emergency room. If you still have your gall bladder to could b a gall bladder attack. What a lot fo people do not know; your gall bladder is your fat and cholesterol filter. When you are losing weight quickly it can't keep up and creates gall stones. A simple ultrasound can determine if you have them or not. I totally forgot about that the other day when I posted. Sorry.

How long on average did mos tof you wait for your first fill? I did pretty good today the cafeteria had grilled Salmon, so I got a small piece about 4oz and could not finish it. I guess that is a good sign. But for example last night I ate spareribs.

Hi all, I am in St. Louis (downtown area to be precise) I had the band done Dec. 13th by Dr. Wagner. Doing pretty good down 15lbs 1 week after surgery but have gained 3 lbs since coming off the all liquid diet. No fills yet I get my first fill Jan 23. I want one sooner because I feel i am eating too much for having the lapband? I may be wrong.

I had a TT 5 years ago and was banded Dec 13. My surgeon had no problems with the surgery he did not even go near my BB. Incision for the gas was just under my breast bone. So my tt sacr were not affected at all. After my TT the weight I gained was in my upper stomach right under my boobs, my back and hips and thighs. So I still have a flat lower stomach. Good luck and PM me if you have any other questions.

OMG! I've had the squirts too. I thought I was the only one. trust me it does go away, when you get back to real food. -
I amsupose to be on a very strict diet, but have been hungry. I ahve talked to several people who had surgery by the same doctor as mine. Well, I have not stuck tot he strick diet. I should be in teh soft food stage, well last night I cooked Spare ribs and green Beans. I only had one small piec of rib and about a 1/4 cup of green beans but. I am no were near the diet the doctor spelled out. I just take very small bites and chew. My husband took me out to dinner Saturday to an Italian rest. I knew the waitress and told her about the band. i got chicken so she made sure I got a small piece and my diet says absolutely no salad. well I ahd a few bites of my husbands and again I chewed and chewed. Now the only thing I stayed away from is the bread (Which is killing me) I love bread, it's my downfall. but I tried a piece christmas eve and it got stuck so no more bread for me. Anyway I've ranted on long enough. I really think it is up to the individual. The only problem i am having is during the 2 week liquid phase prior to surgery I lost 15lbs. I think I have gained a few of those back. :phanvan Good luck everyone.

Everyone looks liek they are doing great. Lisa, Dr. Wagner said it wasnt so important to get protien in right now. He said its just better to heal and be comfortable. The time for protien will come. Stick with what you can tolerate and keep down. Everything else will come with time. The biggest thing is to stay hydrated. De-hydration can cause nausea. Stick with it. If it gets too bad call your doctors office I'm sure they can give you other suggestions. At my worst I kept telling myself that I have to do this if I want to be skinny. Also when you get cleared for soft foods, Mac & cheese the noodles a little overcooked, is great with a little protien powder added. Also remember you are not alone in this, we are all right there with you.

I got a patch behind my ear they said it was for motion sickness and also helped with nausea. They said like you would use on a cruise. But the wrist band thing sounds neat. Does it help??

My daughter and I had the same pain my was not as severe; hers sent her to the hospital. The ER doc said it was a spasm, caused by the puncturing of the diaphragm. It is a remedial nerve impulse, (I believe that is what he said). She was given codiene to take and it worked wonderfully. I had some Tylenol 3's at home and crushed them they seemed to help relax the muscles and stop the spasms. I know the pain. It had nothing to do with overeating, vomiting or anything like that, because when mine occured I was still on Clear liquids. Good Luck I hope you fine something that works.

Find out what kind of sterile prep they used on you. there is a newone called Chloroprep that numerous people have had an allergic reaction too. I had it after a biopsy. It occured several days after surgery. I had to wash real good and clean with alcohol, and they gave me a cortisone to put on it. It went away right away.

ross07, Welcome to a new life. I'm in St. Louis and had my surgery Dec 13, by Dr. Wagner at the Webster Surgery Center. Have you been banded yet?
-
Don't worry, mine were all liquid what did come out but I had my first normal one today. 13 days post-op. I feel a whole lot better, but the doctor told me it was no big deal. I used to go a couple of times a day. now I'm lucky to go twice a week.

Just a bunch of random whininess and complaints
Ann D replied to jewelee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jewlee, It will get better. Your pants are tight because fo the swelling. Trust me it will go down and sooner then you think. I too lost 15lbs in week one, and the other day right at week two my husband walked into the bedroom where I was getting dress and he could notice the loss. Now I have my good days and bad days, some days bloated others not. Just keep it up. I also promise the days of Protien shakes are going to end soon as well. food is just over the horizon. When you get to the soft food phase remember Eze Mac. If you liek it it will taste even better after allthis time. And a little protien powder mixed with the cheese doesn't really change the flavor. Good luck and keep it up. -
I make a great spinach dip, I made it for Christmas, its actually healthy and kind of makes people want to eat veggies. I alos have a great fruit dip that is fat free. Spinach dip 1 Pint Miracle Whip (Lite or any variation) 1/4 cup frozen spinach (thawed and drained very well) 1/2 cup minced onion 1/2 cup parsley flakes juice of a lemon Salt and pepper to taste First combine Miracle Whip and spinach in food processor or blender and blend very well. Then in mixing bowl combine all the ingrediants and mix well by hand, place in the refridgerator overnight and enjoy the next day. The longer it sits the better it gets. Fruit Dip 8 oz Fat Free Cool Whip 8 oz Lemon Yogart 8 oz Marshmallow Cream Whip all three ingrediants together and enjoy with your favorite fruit. If there are left overs the next day whip before eating in case seperation has occurred.

Hi all, My name is Ann I am 38 years old and married for 1 year. However Iahve been with my DH for over 17 years. Better late then never I must say. My DH has 5 children I have none. I work in Law AEnforcemtn in the St. Louis, MO area. I had LapBand surgery on Dec 13th. The main reasons were Health. I have (had) very High Blood Pressure (However, have already come off my meds.) and my mother recently became insulin dependant diabetic. I knew it was just a matter of time for me. I also need to be more active for work and the excess weight has given me a lot of problems. My DH and I love to travel and the extra weight doesn't help there either. I want to be healthier and more active. I'm glad I did it and I'm happy I found this site.

Hi all, I think I did good, I overdid it a little. food tasted sooooo good yesterday. I stuck to the soft stuff, except for carrots, I ate a few raw carrots, I just chewed the heck out of them. One bite of my nephews cookie. That was it. So no sweets for me.

Hi Steph, You are not a wimp, I have the same pain. I thinks its gas. I usually have on resticted clothing or tight jeans, If I take them off and relax it usually eases or goes away. Also if I walk more it helps. It also occurs if I over eat. I also have a dislocated rib on the right side of my chest and it causes similar pain when it pops out.

I have all the typical symptoms of PCOS, excessive hair, weight gain, little if any menstrual cycles. BCP have really helps but I have steady packed on the pounds. I also have HBP, and was taking two different medications until last week when my blood pressure stabilized and am not not taking anything now. I had LapBand surgery 12/13/07 and am down 15lbs. I am elated. Now if I can just not over do it.

Jillybean, I am right there with you. My husband has noticed it and even my 3 year old niece. She likes to lay on my stomache and listen to it. It's annoying to me but she just laughs. I am 3 weeks out from surgery, and am still getting very gassie after all meals.

5 days left and I haven't been a good boy...
Ann D replied to Justin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Be careful, my doctor is known for opening someone up and if the liver was too big closing them up and canceling surgery. It's not to late to fast, you still have 4 days. Clear liquids and very low calorie liquids. All I kept telling myself was "I have to do this if I want the surgery." Good luck and hang in there. -
Hi all, My Dr. had me do a clear liquid diet a week (5-7 days) prior to surgery to shrink my liver. Be careful with broths, if you use boullion it can give you bad craps and diareaha (SP? ) . Sorry for my spelling. I coudl drink any low/no claorie liquids. I could also have saltines if I got too bad. Good luck.
