same thing happened to me, milk of magnesia makes me gag! i had a hard time getting it down, miralax works well but it takes a few days. i did teas and coffee in the morning that def helped me. there is one called Smooth Move, look for it in your organic/health section of the store. it works wonders!

just to chime in, in my head i was celebrating normal food again only because i felt so left out of everything , picnics, parties etc. we as a society associate food with fun and friends and family (at least my society in my head) once i got food i didnt want it anymore, my tummy wasnt ready and I learned quickly. my nutritionist told me i could do thin crust veggie pizza with no cheese, tried it out at 6 weeks and had one piece and was full and satsfied, the next day i had another piece and my husband killed off the rest my point i guess is one piece of pizza didnt ruin my loss or my energy, actually made me feel "normal" again. so yes i had pizza and yes in my head i celebrated it, even though i had the burps all night the 248 lb me would have eaten a whole pepperoni pizza WITH breadsticks...so Celebrate if it makes you smile

2 questions...Dr. Trace Curry...my nerves
jeanniereenie replied to mlsuarez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
congrats on your date of surgery! i cant talk about Dr Curry but i can talk about nerves! i was so anxious the day of surgery i cried for hours before! i couldnt sleep and i couldnt do anything. i was physically shaking...my sweet husband held my hand and let me cry and then the anestiologist made all my worries go away with one shot and before i knew it , it was over! just take it a minute at a time! -
congrats!

i was cleared for workouts after two weeks but they told me to stick to walking and light jogging, no boxing or kickboxing stuff that I used to enjoy...you don't want to hurt yourself...and I also realized that I wasn't eating a lot of food, my energy levels were so much lower than they used to be. I got mad at myself for wanting to do more, but once I realized that just moving around was good enough then I was happy and calmed down good luck and congrats on your surgery!

Anyone else having a lot of hiccups?
jeanniereenie replied to meggriffin12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes...all the time... i do nothing but take a few deep breaths, i get them if i drink too fast i think -
I slept sort of on my side the first few days, sitting up on a pile of pillows, we have a temper-pedic and it was extremely hard for me to move around comfortably. by day 5 or so i could lay on my own bed with no problem, getting up quickly was another issue! i would imagine its ok to sleep however you are comfy, i was told by my nurses to just be comfy and not to try to twist a lot in the bed...it wasnt a problem because i kept getting stuck in the middle of the bed lmao

I want more sleeved friends!
jeanniereenie replied to kjs1995's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@ i agree! the forums are always full of people with questions from pre-op folks, and maybe fill out your profile so people can see your loss! i tend to seek advice from those who have lost hundreds and are maintaining it! good luck ! you can add me if you like , even though I am post op -

Is this normal?
jeanniereenie replied to Dallyup2me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
soup didnt sit well with me at all, and i was told by my nutristionist not to even do it again, its a waste of calories because it slips right through a small stomach, they remind me my stomach is a funnel ..., but i know its different for everyone i am over 6 weeks out and just now hitting 4 oz of food and can barely make that, if you are overly concerned ask your surgical team and see what they think. congrats on healing! -
congrats on your decision! it was the best thing i have ever done for myself! and i agree, ask lots of questions, i actually starting writing them down as soon as i started my 6 months, my poor surgeon answered every one though

Medical followup after the sleeve: PCP or surgeon?
jeanniereenie replied to byebyedarkpassenger's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
i see both , my pcp and my surgery team. my pcp handles my everyday meds (which i am off of) and any non sleeve related stuff, like strep throat... and my surgery team handles blood work and weigh ins and any complications i have that i think may be related to the sleeve, heartburn, pain etc. you will learn more about that once you get there.... congrats! -
congrats to both of you! enjoy every second of it! your journey has just begun!!!
