I sort of had a similar experience today with clothes shopping with my sister, we were in the Lucky store, now keep in mind I haven't shopped in a "regular" store in years...I saw a shirt, loved it, tried on the XXL waaay to big, the XL, still too big...the large..perfect fit... a large shirt in a regular store?? stick a fork in me I am DONE lol day over! ~drops the mike~ -

Do I have to eat Broth
jeanniereenie replied to jacqulineturner's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I fell asleep no matter how i had to do it, a heating pad helps if you have pain in the incisions. my husband would prop pillows up around my back or my sides to prevent me from pulling those muscles and making more pain than i needed. (he is a nurse so i trust his ideas ) eat what your book tells you to eat, and if you cant, try something else. i havent had a sf popscicle or broth since i went to "stage 3" and i dont want one lol i didnt have a BM for about a week and a half, keep in mind you arent really eating anything. I am 13 weeks out and still only have every other day or so. if you feel any pain or bloating take a shot of miralax or drink some smooth move tea, both work nicely in a day or so. just listen to your body i was very frustrated the first month, i was sore, cranky, tired and wasnt losing weight....but remember your body is going through the shock of surgery and trying to repair itself, dont stress yourself out more, do life one day at a time! one sip at a time with your Water and Protein. congrats on your surgery, it does get better! friend me if you want a buddy to chat with -
When your spouse/significant other is still obese...
jeanniereenie replied to dhrguru's topic in The Lounge
i promised myself i wouldnt ever be that person that thought what was best for others, my husband has lost 17 lbs since my surgery simply by eating what i am cooking..he was pre diabetic before and now he isnt... weight loss is a personal thing (or it was for me) no fat shaming! no skinny shaming... people come to the conclusion of surgery on their own..i was never unhappy i was just heavy.... my husband isnt unhappy nor is he a couch potato so he will do what he needs to do when he feels the need..he is a nurse that works 12+ hours a day and then is going to school for his masters, he has more energy than me most days! -
I have so much more energy its amazing, my husband said to me that my "soul was smiling more" and that i have a great light around me that encourages others now... thats more than any loose pants can do! congrats to all of us!!!

My Pre Op Diet Was All I Needed
jeanniereenie replied to Chuckster's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
@@LipstickLady was just thinking the same thing lol -
according to the AMA i should weigh between 98-115 lbs because I am so short...i have told my friends and family if i weigh 110 lbs, call 911 something has gone horribly wrong! lol

my dr gave me a huge book and a stack of 1 oz medicine type cups to measure liquids in, then a 1/4 cup bowl and a 1/2 cup bowl, i have yet to eat all the half cup at a sitting...i do eat a lot of pickles though and i hated them before..

yes def mashed taters and gravy probably not your best choice, i havent had either of them since a few weeks before my surgery and dont even know how i would feel about them now. i have made them for my husband but havent really wanted any. and i too find foods good or bad within 5 mins of putting it in my mouth...i have spent many a nights just feeling awful , or like i had lettuce stuck in my throat..havent had lettuce since.. i did have to do a swallow study and in a few weeks you should be billed for a pathology report of the removed portion...lol so if you dont get that bill...maybe you do still have a stomach?? it will get better!

pre op diet failure cheating
jeanniereenie replied to jessicascy22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i thnk the preop was the hardest part for me, i still cooked for my husband but did lots of crying! i would assume as long as you are following the last 24-48 you should be fine, however a friend in my surgery class cheated quite a bit and her surgery lasted about 2 hours, while mine was less than an hour...so i think it does make a bit of a difference when they get in there. remember as hard as it is right now, it does get easier and right now is the time to start making your brain shut up about food! i dont physically feel hungry but i sure do get head hunger, it starts to become more of a mental thing. good luck on your surgery (all of you!) this is a changing thing in your life! take advantage of every second! and forget the hiccups...they arent going to last long. -
i got an entire book on what to eat, what not to eat and even what to eat in a pinch, i am with you @@JamieLogical i have never seen a plan where you get no guidelines. they are all def different reach out to your surgical team or the surgeons nutritionist. i wasnt allowed to switch phases until i was seen by the PA

i am 2 months and about 10 days out, its amazing how we keep count i too survived the stall, i have had two so far....and i always feel better when they are done. its because for so long that scale went up and up and never stayed the same or went down..its a great feeling... i dont do the Protein shakes anymore, my nut said not too and i honestly couldnt stomach them much anymore! i am able to get most of my protein through Snacks like turkey pepperoni and shrimp for lunch what a life... my grocery bill has gotten a lot smaller! thats always nice and i am almost out of "old" pants that used to be too small... sounds like we are both awesome..along with all the other sleevers! yay go us!

Help! Nausea and severe bloating
jeanniereenie replied to brandeett's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
i remember waking up in recovery saying my back hurt and the nurse said to me, yes honey its gas...then i passed out again..lol ask your nurse or dr for nausea meds, they can give you Zofram i think its called, tastes horrible but works... i tried the gas x and my surgeon reminded me that the air was mostly in my "third space" and that although gas x would help, it wouldnt eliminate it all so walk walk walk, stretch, fart and dance..it will come out... you will feel better soon! first week is the hardest, your body is adjusting to the shock of surgery! congrats! -

Surgery is over and working hard
jeanniereenie replied to kxylxmxrie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
congrats and know it only gets better! i was bruised up on my arm for about a week and sore like i had ran a marathon, my sides and back hurt so much from the gas i felt like i had been in a car accident, but in a few days once i got up more and stretched, i would literally just stand in my kitchen or get up and down from the office chair, it felt so much better to be standing! keep those incisions dry and enjoy your first shower once you can! its fabulous congrats again and welcome to your new journey! -
Has anyone been having sleeping problems since surgery?
jeanniereenie replied to cuchas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i honestly had a little trouble in the first 6-8 weeks, i couldnt get my brain to shut off! i sleep better now over 2 months out but i think its maybe just something where your body is trying to adjust and hormone levels get wacky..i know mine did! try the Simply Sleep , either the generic or the Nyquil (ZZZquil) brand, or maybe some melatonin, i had never had sleeping issues before so i know your frustration! disrupted sleep can make for a horrible day! good luck! -
i am about 9 weeks out and have a horrible time getting all my food in, unless i force myself i cannot eat anything , and of course i hate to feel sick, yesterday i did pretty good and hit about 600 calories, each surgeon is different i know but he says im right on target! i am still losing, and exercising, he even approves "grazing" as long as its healthy. congrats on your success!!

Insurance only cover some types WLS?
jeanniereenie replied to %#LoosingIt?!&-'s topic in Insurance & Financing
i have united health care ,and even though they cover the lap band my employer/options chooses to not cover it, because they consider it "temporary" so i think it depends on the employer sometimes. they did cover my sleeve surgery and my inpatient stay upwards of 37 thousand, so i cant complain! but then i work for the hospital system... good luck! -
congrats! welcome to the rest of your life! i took two weeks but it was because my surgeon made me, i sit at a desk all day! by the time i went back i was running to go, i was bored out of my mind! i didnt really drive for the two weeks, my hubby did most of it...hardest part honestly for me was the ride home from the hospital, i was tired, achy and nauseated!

3 weeks out and struggling - need advice
jeanniereenie replied to titan05's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
stalls, they suck and they happen i just got through another one at 6 weeks out, hide the scale, do your thing and realize that every day you have a little more energy and a are feeling a little better i am still unable to hit more than 700 calories so good you are being able to eat so much so quickly! congrats on your loss!
