I've been at goal for about 9 months and did aerobics several times a week until I was hit with Lyme earlier this summer. I was barely able to function and had no appetite at all which helped me stay at goal and even lose about 7 more pounds. After hospitalization and antibiotics, I've slowly started back with only walking. Lyme is complicated and exercising can raise your body temp causing a reaction so I'm afraid to go back to heavy aerobics. Has anyone had long term success with walking as their only form of exercise? Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Also - fiber can make you more constipated since it binds your stool. Learned this the "hard" way. -
9 Months out With Severe Constipation

Oh wow, can I identify! That's been singularly my biggest challenge. Here's the regimen I follow, but lots and lots of water is critical. AM: 1 Magnesium pill,2 stool softeners. PM: another Magnesium pill. Miralax as needed. Took Amitiza for a few months but couldn't afford the $200 a month price tag. Water, water, water. Finally "on track". -
Slowly increasing your calorie intake by adding in healthy foods like Olives, Greek Yogurt or Peanut Butter (just a few suggestions). The difference between losing and maintaining for me is only about 200 calories. I've been at goal for a year!

Anyone else uncomfortable with weight comments?
bbrown527 replied to bbrown527's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
What the heck is it with in laws? I wrote the original post with my MIL in mind. At my heaviest, she told me I looked "normal" from the waist down but was heavy on top. I told her I knew exactly what I was. My husband was stunned and later beat himself up for not coming to my defense. Now, after my weight loss, she's the one that asked me what size I wore. A vendor at work asked me how much I weigh. My MIL informed me I should not lose any more weight. Aside from family and a few friends, I told no one about surgery. -

Anyone else uncomfortable with weight comments?
bbrown527 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't get me wrong, I'm very proud of myself for having the guts to be sleeved, but I always hated any kind of comments about anyone's weight. I'm at goal. And after a long summer contracting Lyme, I'm actually in a position where I need to gain a few pounds (don't recommend this as a weight loss tool;) but have found that comments about my weight or anyone else's weight still makes me incredibly uncomfortable. Why would anyone think it's okay to ask what size I am, or how much I weigh? Just feels incredibly inappropriate and a total invasion of privacy. -
How long till you hit GOAL Weight?

Hi there! HW 270, surgery 12/16/15, current weight 126. I completely stuck to a very strict regimen until I hit my goal of 140. I've definitely loosened up but I really don't eat too differently to maintain than I did while losing. Everyone's journey is different! -
December 2015 or January 2016 sleevers ?
bbrown527 replied to neequa25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! I will be in December, tentatively the 28th, I have some time off at Christmas and am hoping to be able to slide in on my vacation and not tell my coworkers. In in Pittsburgh, PA -
Hello! Went to my first info session yesterday and have my first official appointment at the end of the month. While I'm excited about the chance for a "new beginning" I'm also really scared. I'm the kind of person who will have second thoughts up until the procedure, then once it's done I'll be fully committed to the changes required. I will be looking at 6 months from 1st appointment based on insurance requirements and am looking for tips on how to manage the nervousness. I've been through many surgeries before so it's not really the surgery aspect. I can't quite put my finger on it - just feel incredibly nervous. Anyone else? BB

Hello! I'm in the beginning stages and have my first informational session next Monday, 6/15. I'm curious if there is anything you wish you had been told prior to surgery but weren't? Just a sort of "I wish they had told me........(fill in the blank)". BB

Hi all! I'm considering surgery and will attend my first informational session on 6/15. I'm glad to have found this forum and have gotten alot from reading your successes and struggles. Here's my question: Who did you tell about your surgery? If I opt to move forward with the surgery, I don't want to tell coworkers. I'm relatively new at this job and don't feel a real sense of connection with my thin coworkers. I guess what I'm asking is if it's possible to take a week or two of vacation, come back and resume normal work life without having to disclose. I understand that some will draw conclusions from a noticeable weight loss, but am curious to hear the experience of others. Thanks in advance! BB
