Same for me on the hair loss. I wasn't expecting a second round, but it's not lasting as long as the super heavy losses months 5 thru 8.

I only access BP from my iPad and since the last update, all of a sudden, there are ads everywhere. Too, too many. I don't mind a few and they should be obviously marked so easily passed by as none hold any interest for me. Can you find a happy balance? Must they appear in EVERY thread? At one time I used a great water tracking app and then they made it burdensome to use with too many ads, so I deleted it and track my water in my LoseIt app. I've found myself spending less time with BP since the app was updated and it will be even less if overwhelmed with ads in every thread.

My iPad app shows the topics on the left and responses on the right. The day I wrote about this issue, ads were appearing on both sides and appearing mixed in with topics and responses. Now they're gone. Odd.

Anyone from the AZ?

Dr. Swain has a great reputation. Dr. Blackstone did my sleeve and not one complication. Make sure you have an excellent surgeon. -
I'm ten months out and I still battle constipation. I'm not sure it will ever be the same again. I keep it in check with miralax. Just keep in mind that miralax can take a few days to work. I eat limited fruit, but lots of veggies daily. I use a probiotic and I tried benefiber, fiber gummies but none of that seemed to make a difference. It used to really get me down but I've just learned to manage it so it doesn't get too far out of hand.

First Colonoscopy next week - tips?
BestDayEver replied to Baconville's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
My prep has been nothing like the one you've been prescribed. The day before I had to take 4 dulcolax and drink an entire bottle of miralax mixed with 64 oz of water. Needless to say I was completely cleared out. Yuck! -
I bought two boxes of the thin mints and ate six cookies. The family ate the rest and I won't buy any more boxes. Previous years I would have purchased 12 boxes and could easily eat half a box of cookies on one sitting. I call this progress!!!!

How did you deal with changes to your hair during regrowth
BestDayEver replied to Djmohr's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I'm just going to jump into this thread and say I hate my hair. It was thinning before surgery then heavy losses months four thru seven, then losses slowed and some regrowth and the losing hair picked up again in month ten! Bummer. But oh well, I'll take the hair loss over weighing 100+ pounds more than I do now. -
Stomach stretching and food consumption post-surgery
BestDayEver replied to perforce's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is a great video. It just underscores the great gift that the surgery gives us to change the way we eat and exercise for the rest of our lives. If there's one thing I've learned from this website it's that you have to change or you will regain. That's partly why I keep coming back here to keep motivated! -
I think the key to eating nuts is portion control. I measure and track them. I try not to eat them every day and only allow for one serving a day. Nuts don't call my name so I find it pretty easy to control eating them. Chocolate is my bugaboo so I keep it out of the house altogether.

Weight Redistribution: Hormones or Sleeve settlement
BestDayEver replied to windycitymom's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I lost a significant amount of weight 25 years ago when I was around 30 years old and my body looks different with this weight loss now that I'm post menopause. I definitely have less muscle mass and more loose skin. The weight is distributed differently. Perimenopause and menopause make a difference in your physical shape and muscle mass. Hormones - a blessing and a curse! -
First real moment of weakness ????
BestDayEver replied to AlanaRN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I completely understand! It happens but you just get back on the horse so to speak and move on. I've found that if I indulge every now and then, a rare occurrence, I still lose weight. Maintenance is scary just trying to figure out what works best. And I think we all fear regain since few of us ever succeeded in the past pre op to maintain weight loss. Huge head game that's exhausting sometimes. -
Wow! Congratulations. You look fantastic.

Did anyone's spouse lose attractiveness when they got close to goal?
BestDayEver replied to Chrystee's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
This past weekend I went out with my husband. I had some great fitting jeans on and thought he would say SOMETHING upon seeing me . . . no reaction whatsoever. I was bummed and it showed on my face. Once we got in the car I told him I was sad he didn't say anything and he said my losing weight makes him feel fat. I think he is handling the change well, but he feels insecure about it too. I think he just needs time to get used to it. We've been married for many years and this won't change our commitment to each other, but I don't really know how to help him feel better about himself. He has to decide if he wants to lose weight and I would never nag or make him feel bad about himself. I guess this is really not much help to you, but I hope it all works out in the end. Only time will tell. -

Veterans - What Size are You After Weight Loss?
BestDayEver replied to careya123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sizing of clothes is strange business. I have very wide shoulders and a bit chesty so I need a size 12/14 in a dress, M/L in tops, and then I can wear size 8 jeans (not curvy ones, just normal). I think they call this figure an inverted triangle. Crazy. Some day I'm going to have an arm lift and that will help with the sleeves but I'm too self conscious about the loose skin on my upper arms to go sleeveless. -
Next thing you know, he's going to bring home the evil Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies. I could eat half a box in one sitting in a previous life! Lol

I'm 9 months out and I can eat anything without any issues. I eat mostly chicken or turkey. I love taco seasoned ground turkey on a salad and make that a lot for lunch. I like salmon, tilapia , and the occasional burger or pork loin. I use the barbecue often to prepare my food.

Hmmmm - that looks like a Village Inn French Silk pie, I know it well!

How do you stop small treats from turning into daily bad habits?
BestDayEver replied to VSGAnn2014's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm a rules person. I decided there are ten days a year when I can eat whatever I want. If I start to crave something (usually something chocolate), I remind myself there will be an opportunity to indulge in that treat at a later date and this just helps me set aside the craving. I keep my trigger foods out of the house. If I get hungry and tempted between meals/snacks, I will drink a cup of tea or chew some gum. Mint gum always kills my appetite. If I go off the rails unexpectedly, I just dust myself off and get back on track. These behaviors are not at all what I used to do in my obese life. If I slipped, I gave up and returned to bad habits because I felt like a failure and there was just no hope of succeeding. I try not to see things in such black and white terms anymore. As Scarlet said "tomorrow is another day". We can do this! -
Transfer Addiction: Fashion
BestDayEver replied to careya123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm totally hung up on buying pretty new dresses. I would love to head to Nordstroms this very minute but I think I'll head over to the gym instead. Oh, if only I was given an extra $3,000 just to spend on clothes, purses, shoes, etc. -
How was goal weight determined?
BestDayEver replied to Freckles70's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Neither my surgeon or NUT ever stated a goal weight. I looked at the bmi chart and picked one for myself. I'm targeting a weight at the mid point of the range. I'm getting close and I will just have to see how low my body wants to go. -
It happened to me too early on, I would say this is a normal occurrence.
