That's great info for newbies and veterans - thank you Cowgirl.

I personally think in the end it will be obvious to people that I've had WLS. So when asked about how I've lost weight, I say I've had surgery and I'm using this wonderful tool along with diet and exercise to lose weight. I think my smile says it all ????. And they can see that it's working.

Tried a Zumba class for the first time today and wow! I only lasted 25 minutes but it was fun and really got my heart rate up. I think I need to lose more weight as it was hard on my knees. At least I tried and I hope to give it another go when I lose another 30 pounds. Back to the water aerobics class for now.

Went to the grocery store yesterday and was amazed at all the aisles I skipped! Went right past the chips, cookies, soda and prepackaged meal aisles. What a change in shopping habits and a much lower bill too. I feel a little guilty not buying treats for the rest of my family but they don't really need the junk food anyway.

Strange Info from NUT re: Carbs

I order a soft taco and eat the insides only, the meat, lettuce and cheese. Very satisfying! -
What's your "weight loss pet peeve?"
BestDayEver replied to Elode's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think there are many people out there that think wls is a quick fix, easy, and that weight just falls off a person. A friend that is overweight can feel insecure and uncomfortable when they see you losing weight. I had surgery 3 months ago and the reaction of friends and family has been interesting to say the least! -
I just really enjoyed the class and I think I will go back and try to last at least 35 minutes next time lol. Baby steps ????

What's your "weight loss pet peeve?"
BestDayEver replied to Elode's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My best friend not being able to handle my losing weight and distancing herself. I don't think the friendship will survive it and I realize I am okay with that????. I choose to get healthy and have no regrets. -
I returned from a two week vacation this summer thinking I had gained weight and I ended up losing over 7 lbs. I love my sleeve❤️. When I got home I got right back on track - no guilt.

Anyone else have very slow weight loss?
BestDayEver replied to Mrs. Reid's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm in the same boat but so happy with the results so far. I'm post menopausal and hypothyroid. I have yet to experience a stall but it has been a nice steady loss. My advice is to try your best not to compare your results with others. Sex, age, starting weight and other medical conditions are all factors in loss. All we can do is stay the course and enjoy the ride. ???? -
I, on the other hand, have frequent hot flashes and sweating buckets lol.

I like the Quest bars and sometimes it's just nice to have something besides a protein shake. It's on the list and I was told to look at the net carbs. Eating them on occasion has not slowed my weight loss. I've tried the brownie, s'mores, mint chocolate and strawberry cheesecake. I didn't care for the strawberry one but the others were good.

The scale is not moving much these days but....

Fierce!! ???????? -
I think people underestimate how tired they will feel after the surgery. I know I did and it worried me because I thought I would always feel that way. However, at 4 weeks I felt my energy return if not actually increased from before surgery.

Have you tried Gordons Talapia

Just bought these a couple of weeks ago and I love them. Easy to prepare and very tasty. Multiple flavors so I don't get bored. These are great and keep you on track. Big thumbs up. -
Shame in sharing WLS with friends/family?
BestDayEver replied to PChayy05's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The reactions have been interesting to say the least. In my situation, I've been surprised at the lack of support but I just put it out of my mind and go forward. Bought some new clothes in a smaller size and actually bought a few items in the regular size department. I see the difference and that is good enough for me. -
July 21 sleeve date and scared
BestDayEver replied to Phoenix924's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Stick to the food plan and you will lose. Eat mostly protein, veggies next, limit carbs and you have the recipe for success now and forever. -
It feels good to know there is a place where you can share your successes and know that the people on this board get it. Congratulations!!!

Congratulations!! And I love the name twohundredtown.????

Before surgery I asked the doctor if someone post menopausal with hypothyroid could succeed with a sleeve. Doctor said there was no specific research on it but thought I could be at a healthy weight in one year from surgery. Surgery was almost seven weeks ago and I'm very happy with the results. I eat around 600 calories a day, meet the upper end of protein goal each day, exercise 5 days a week and feel great. Pre-surgery it would have taken me 6 months to lose as much weight as I have lost in 7 weeks and let's face it, I probably would have given up before getting to 6 months!! LOL

Anyone else aggravated?
BestDayEver replied to ShrinkingPeach's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When I was in the waiting room for my pro-op appointment, two other patients were chatting with each other. The woman was saying that as she understood it you could eventually go back to eating your favorite foods and wondered how soon she could resume drinking soda. She had received the same pre-surgical info I had received but clearly she just didn't want to accept it. Most of us get it - the surgery is just a tool, a wonderful blessing of a tool! I work the program every day and see results I would not have seen without it. Bottom line, it's what you make of it and who am I to scorn others who see it differently than I do? I just appreciate this site for all the great information I have gleaned from it, and the inspiration it provides me every day!! -
4 weeks out and 5 pound gain?
BestDayEver replied to Tracan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I question the accuracy of the scale. Maybe you're retaining fluids? Whatever, do your best to ignore it and soldier on - you will lose weight. ???? -
Another "I told some people at work and some friends" thread :-)

I feel your pain. It is so disappointing when your best friend can't find it in their heart to support you no matter what, especially when you were there for them when they needed you. I just have to let it go and move on. I'm on a mission to improve my health and appearance, and if that means important relationships change, then so be it. My family has been supportive and I am so grateful for that! -
