Hey Turler, Like you I am scheduled in April. April 7th. I started this process in September. Seen the Dr. in December. Had the necessary follow-up appointments in January, and was called last week with my surgery date. It has been a long process. I figure what I will do is start preparing before my surgery date so that this will not be such a total shock to my system. Already I have quite drinking sodas, I was drinking at least a 6 pack every day if not more. That took about a week and a half to get over. And now I am trying different Protein drinks. Have not found any that I like yet. I totally gag. I am a little worried about having to consume 60 to 70 grams of protein for the first two weeks, when you can only get it in liquid form. NASTY. Special K has protein Water that is not bad but it is only 5 g per bottle. I know I will have to straighten up and just down some. I have found that I can mix a little of the boost with some chocolate milk, but know I have to watch the calories. I have also decided why wait till April to start loosing. So I want to get moving on the exercise. Have not done that yet. Go figure. But am going to push myself. I wish you best of luck with your surgery. Keep us up to date on your progess. Horsegirl

Hey MOMTO3, I too am a mother of 3 and am waiting on my psyc. evaluation, ekg, and bloodwork. I go to the psyc. on the 11th and will probably get the rest scheduled for that day too. I can relate to how you are feeling. I am sure it will all be good. We have struggled and now have a tool to help us with where we want to be. I am sure you will have the support of your family plus all of us here at the forum to help you through. I know I will be looking forward to hearing how the surgery and post op is going. I do not know yet if there is a pre-op diet in store for me. I cannont stomach those liquid drinks and dont know what I am going to do. They will come up quicker than I can get them down. Best of luck to you and please keep us informed of how your surgery went and the days following.

IndioGirl55, thanks for your honesty, I am up for the challenge, but am scared of failure. I have dieted and lost LOTS of weight just to gain it back. I do not like a variety of foods and dont know how to go about eating them without gagging like a child. I started on this journey thinking I was going to do GBS and changed my mind because it seemed somewhat safer. I have a co-worker who did go with Bypass and said I was crazy for going with the LB. There is concern with maintenance but with that I still think it is better than realigning your intestines and being a permanent change. Thank you for taking time to give me a few more facts that I did not know.

With excess skin, Is there no exercises to keep this minimal or should you plan on saving BIG TIME to have it removed. From what I have seen on TV shows 1 surgery cannot remove it all and that it may take several. Have you guys had any issues with this?

Oh my, I was just reading what everyone wrote and I am a little scared. I just finished my consulation with the Dr. and decided to go with the LB instead of GBS. Someone had wrote that the only problem they were experiencing was that they were starving. I was told that the cravings go away IMMEDIATELY after the surgery. Is this not true? I always feel hungry knowing that I cant be. But, indulge anyways. I am also concerned about the puree diet. I think I can handle the liquid diet but worry about the mushed diet. I am a meat and potatoe girl and dont think I can do the baby food. Any suggestions? Really concerned here!

Hey SoCalGal3, thanks for your input and support. I know I have many changes to make and know that I can. I do love food and am a little scared of the cravings I sometimes get and wonder if they will hinder my progress. Congratulations to you, from what I can tell, you lost about 100 lbs in a year. You have to have such patience. It is hard not to want it now, but think with the slower progress of the LB I want have so much excess skin. I will be around and too will post my progress. I think support from those who are experiencing the same thing is best for your sucess.

Hey All, I have just signed up for this forum. Iam so unsure as to what to do. I went for a consult with the intention of do GBS and changed my mind to the LB because it was less invasive. I am not sure if I made the right decision but have sent my paperwork to the insurance to hopefully get approval. I am at least 100 pounds overweight and would like to lose 10 more on top of that but dont know if that is realistic. I have read many threads but have not seen any cons. Is there anyone who knows of any?
