Insure protein just delivered
lsmith715 replied to lsmith715's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just got an email another shipment is on its way. Holy moly!!! I have an awesome problem of where I'm going to store it all now till I need it all. -
Me too! 9/9 and 10/5. Then the painful waiting for the insurance approval. Good luck!
-
I was told they submit your weight when you started the process not the amount at time of the surgery. Good luck!
-
I'm curious with this too. I have UHC too and am hoping I don't have to wait that long. I'm not very patient. I still have one more month of my 6 month waiting period.
-
I'm still pre surgery. My insurance has a 6 month waiting time. So I have 1 month left. I can't wait. I live minutes from the Reading hospital but I'm going through St Luke's in Allentown. My insurance didn't cover Reading. I started wanting the sleeve but changed over now to going with the bypass. Good luck in your journey.

Looking for some local people to share this experience with. I want to find some friends who are going through the same thing I am. My current friends support me but they really don't understand the mental roller coaster that goes along with all this. Thanks.

Any 450-500 lb 2015 sleeves out there?
lsmith715 replied to MicheleL's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So far what I've lost preop has come off fairly easy. I hope post op is just as easy. You guys are doing great too. It feels better with every pound gone. They are gone forever but definitely not forgotten. -
Well. I thought it was a hoax but they just called and said a months supply of protein drinks, bariatric vitamins, and a scar cream are in its way to me. I knew they said I was approved but I really thought it was a scam. I'm shocked they got my insurance to pay for all this stuff. That's a big savings to me.

It took about 6 -8 weeks total from application to delivery. -
I only got my first months supply. They said they will auto ship every month. I was not asked to pay anything.

Insurance requiring 5 years of consecutive diagnosed obesity! Anyone else have this in their policy?
lsmith715 replied to shasha1974's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That was one of my insurance requirements. I basically just had my doctor send a list of recorded weights from past visits. -

I have united healthcare for medical and Caremark for prescriptions. I think this was covered through my prescription plan. They sent 4 cases of protein drinks. 1 months supply of bariatric vitamins, and some scar cream. They said they will send automatically for the next year. I will not have to pay anything out of pocket. From when I applied it's been about 8 weeks total till I received anything. -

I started in April at 480. I'm still pre-op. I still have a month and half of my insurance mandated 6 month dr observed diet. I'm currently at 418. My bmi is still high but I have another month to go before I get a surgery date. I'm trying to lose as much as I can till that point. Your not alone. Message me anytime. -
I was approved to. My first months supply came today. I'm so excited I shipped my box of unjury back for a refund!

I got my first call about 3 weeks or so after I applied. They said I was approved but had to send the slip over to be signed off from the dr. I got the call today which was about 3 weeks from the approval call that they were shipping. I got an email from ups with tracking for 63 pounds of stuff. I can't wait to see what all they sent me. Good luck! It doesn't hurt to apply. -
Husband having second thoughts
lsmith715 replied to larac05's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Wow!! This sounds like my life exactly! My husband goes back and forth. All I can say is just keep talking to him and give him time to get used to this. That's my plan. Good luck! -
I've been married to my husband for almost 19 years. All those years my weight has climbed. He is someone who can eat everything at any time of the day and not have any issues. In the beginning of this process he was adamantly against this. He went so far as to tell me if I went through with this he would divorce me. Since then he kind of came around and was trying to be supportive. I have 2 more months pre-op and he told me today he thinks it's ridiculous and the lazy way out. If I could lost 50 pounds in 4 months why can't I just lose it that way and not risk my life and be lazy and take the easy way out. He doesn't understand what a day in my 400+ lb life. I'm so tired of the ignorant thinking that I'm lazy. I'm not lazy. I'm a strong woman who has had to deal with a lot of negativity in my life. I don't know why I couldn't lose weight before. All I know is now I feel like there is a light at the end of this dark dark tunnel. I just want his support but I don't think that's ever going to happen. I think in reality my marriage will be another statistic. It makes me sad to think that he would be so hurtful.

Husband just doesn't understand
lsmith715 replied to lsmith715's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thank you. I really appreciated do the different point of views. Especially from a guy. I know he loves me but he can be very close minded. I hear what he says about people if we watch some of the weight loss shows and I think that if that's what he thinks about them and they are half my size sometimes how disgusted would he be with me? Im trying to be more open but it's hard when I've been so guarded for so many years. -
Husband just doesn't understand

I forgot to mention that he does not know what my weight is. I think if he knew that number he would totally flip out. I let him think it's a lot less. I'm very tall so thankfully you can't tell that it's as high as it is. But trust me. It's all there. My counselor said I shouldn't have secrets and I should tell him my number but why. I'll tell when I'm far away from it but for now in taking that number to the grave with me. -
Chocolate splendor is my favorite. The strawberry and the chicken soup are the least favorite.
